Our family had a great time today at the Ogunquit Beach. It was not overly crowded and since the beach is so big you really don't feel like you're surrounded by anyone. Amazing beach. long stretch of sand, good waves

Best beach in Maine. Lots of space and always has a low tide for young children. Highly recommend visiting if you have small children!

Just wonderful. Clean beach, clean sand. The water is cool and refreshing. Rated one of the Top 25 beaches in the country and for good reason(s). There are rocks in the back and when we went they didn't want people sitting there in case of falling rocks so they put up yellow caution tape to prevent people from sitting too close to the rocks. This happened both days we were there, no idea if this happens all the time or not. Also, the birds are pretty bold and will come right up to your chairs/towels/etc. looking for food. If you don't want to sit on the actual beach, there is a shaded area up on shore (close to the shops) where people were sitting watching the waves. There is a restaurant there, a chair/umbrella rental place and several small shops along the strip. There are also public restrooms close to where you pull in. They aren't great, but then again these are public restrooms at the beach, you aren't going to get pristine bathrooms. Just a heads-up: If you park in the lot right at the beach, prices vary according to the weather. We went Saturday and the temperature never got above 75 degrees so parking was only $20 a day because they didn't think it would be too busy there (they were right - the crowds were sparse for a summer beach Saturday in August). The next day it was forecast to be in the 90s and when we went the price went up to $30 for parking (this time the beach was a LOT busier). So you can either pay the parking there or look around for a cheaper place to park (which will require walking). read more

Nice beach and family friendly. A little more crowded than I prefer but decided to check out one day for something new. Great for kids if you have them and plenty of parking nearby but was kind of expensive at $30 for the day. read more

I just left this beach after wasting an hour here. I came on vacation from the city to have a relaxing time at the beach- not be cramped in with a swarm of people on the beach. Unfortunately, you cannot are this beach from the road so you cannot decide if it is too crowded or not before you pay for parking.... I heard it was beautiful though so my mom and I paid 30 dollars to park and as we got out to go to the beach, it was high tide and there was about ten feet of space from the rocks to the water.... there was NOWHERE to sit.. we went back to the car and asked for a refund and they said it shows "no refund" on the ticket, which it does. However, we told them there was no space at their beach and we could not see this until AFTER. Paying for the ticket.. they said we could walk "a little" and there was "plenty" of space on the left... well walking "a little" meant walking a mile - which, sorry, is not why I paid to park. I'm not camping- I'm going to the beach, I'm not lugging my stuff... perhaps if the beach is this crowded they should have people who work there in golf carts to carry visitors beach items if you won't give refunds..... so once again I went back to the window to point out there was in fact NO ROOM to the left either and I did not come from NYC to sit on a cramped beach. I had at this point already wasted a half hour trying to find space and another half hour eating our lunch in the car so we didn't have to carry the cooler when we were looking for the "space" on the left side of the beach. The woman SIMPLY REFUSED a refund even though we had asked fifteen mi Utes after we got there and again fifty minutes after and explained all of this to her. As an out of state visitor this was an awful experience, and after looking at the beach it was not even that nice so very upsetting to pay 30... please put up a sign saying it is high tide or that there is NO ROOM on the beach so people can decide if they would like to actually pay to go to the beach or not ... or maybe allow a refund within a 15 minute time frame seeing as you cannot see this beach from far away... that was if once a customer gets to the beach and realizes it is the complete opposite of serene they can be issued a refund... read more

After driving down from Brunswick on our way to Boston we decided to stop for a dip in the beach. Ogunquit was a twenty minute drive from the hi-way so was good location for a quick stop. The amount of people however meant arriving and parking at the beach took a considerable amount of time. I am from the west coast and was not used to the crowded east coast beach scene. read more

Ogunquit is by far the nicest beach I have been to in New England. It is clean and extremely scenic. We went when the tide was going out, so the beach was enormous with plenty of room for the Labor Day crowd. I can see how it would be an issue when the tide is in, so plan accordingly. The water was cold, but not so much that you wouldn't want to go in. It was also clear and the waves were a decent size. I plan to return many times in the future. It should also be noted that there are free bathroom facilities. The beach is walking distance to several restaurants and shops in the downtown area. The parking lot adjacent to the beach is on the small side and $25. Another parking lot that is walking distance to the beach is $20. read more

We drove up from Boston to head to your wonderful beach! Arriving early morning, I headed into the women's room. The toilets were not flushed or cleaned, the floors were filthy, and the bathroom clearly had not been cleaned in a while. To be honest, I did not want to bring my grandchildren into the place. We travel to many beaches from the Cape to New Hampshire, and to Maine. There should be a protocol for the bathrooms to reflect the beauty of the dunes of Ogunquit. Take the time to make them clean and welcoming. Maybe a sheet recording the time/date of the cleaning process? Outdoor rinsing showers would also be a good addition as visitors head home. Otherwise, the beach is just perfect! read more

Ogunquit Beach is still one of the most beautiful beaches found anywhere expecially at low tide. We prefer the little beach located along the Marginal Way by the lighthouse. The best time to go to this beach is at low tide becuse at high tide there is not tha much sand. If the tide is very low you can actually cross the river, but you have to be careful as the tide can be swift. I you have small children they should be carried across. There is also a few parking spots near this beach if you arive early. The scenery is breathtaking with the big beach in the distance and the rocky coastline to either side read more

Been coming here since I was a toddler from NH. It's truly one of the best beaches I've ever been to. There's so much sand that you never have a problem finding a place to sit, even at high tide during high season. The scenery is beautiful too. My only con revolves around the price and bathrooms. The price for parking has always been between 10 and 20 dollars, which I think is a bit high, but still worth it. The bathrooms are also quite small. Other than for that, though, it's well worth it! Lots to do in downtown Ogunquit as well. read more

The best beach in the entire world. I will drive up 3 1/2 hours to spend all day here and go home for the night. Bring inflatables for the lazy river. Cute town and lots of cute shops read more

I like Ogunquit Beach because the sand is great for making sand sculptures, it has a river that you can float on with a tube and it has warm tidal pools. read more

This is hands down the best beach option in the area if you're willing to shell out $30 for the beach parking lot or walk a little ways from the many other (and slightly cheaper) lots in town. The beach is a couple miles long stretching north to Wells. On a nice day, it will be packed within a quarter to half mile from the main lot. But if you're willing to walk, you can usually find some space of your own. The sand is beautiful, the waves are frisky, and the water is cold. Pay attention to the tide chart. If you're there when the tide is coming in, you're going to want to sit well back! It's not like Long Sands, which essentially disappears at high tide, but depending on what part of the beach you're on, you might not have tons of room. If you parked for the day, Ogunquit is full of nice spots to eat that you can walk to when your beach time is over. There are bathrooms and outdoor showers at the main lot. read more

The beach was gorgeous, I mean it was absolutely stunning. The shore appeared so smooth, the waves weren't too rough, and the skyline was equally beautiful (save for the gray and gloominess that is standard in Maine). I wish I could have done more than just look at the beach, but it was freezing! Unless you were being really active, your body succumbed to the sub-60° temperature and you shivered uncontrollably. No doubt the water was like ice, and we couldn't even bring ourselves to go on the beach. The town is cute and quaint, so it's still an enjoyable experience, and it's apparent everyone takes pride in the beach, it's just unfortunate it can't read be utilized. There are strict rules on dogs- I believe it was $100 fine if dogs were present at the beach, so be aware of that (although who's to say that they enforce that rule). read more

The sand was soft like a pillow, the waves where huge during high tide. The only complaints where is that the water was freezing and it coast us $30 to park. We only stayed for 3 hours and it was worth it. read more

First time in Maine and coworker recommended Ogunquit beach... I grew up on an island and always thought beaches in the NE would be coastline of rocks but this spot certainly surprised me. Quaint small town with everything you need for a short stay. We traveled with our kids and they really enjoyed the beach and ice cream shops. read more

Definitely earned its spot in the top beaches of the US by TripAdvisor. Soft, clean, white sand beach with clear waters. Even on the most crowded July 4th, there was room to play and build and dip your toes (into frigid waters, if that's how you roll). Family friendly, with wave-free water play at the mouth of the river just around the rocky bend from the ocean-facing beach. Walkable to the busy and vibrant town center and connected by trolleys if that's more your speed. BYOS (bring your own shade). Highly recommend! read more
