The biggest selections are paperback collections/graphic novels and back issues. However, they had an ample supply of $1 comics and new issues along the walls. I really enjoyed showing my son how to flip through boxes of back issues to look for stuff. The downside was that there were more than a few comics with no marked prices (and took a lot of time to find the prices) and the staff, while friendly, didn't seem to know much about comics. I asked about some DC comics and characters and they simply didn't know the answers. I feel if you run a comic, you should have employees who can answer questions. Overall a really nice experience. Again, the staff was friendly and the back issue and graphic novel selection in particular was fantastic.

The other one was cool but didn't take us all day so we grabbed a bite and decided to see if there was anything else around. We found this little place 20 minutes out of the way. Google said they had classic Beast Wars toys. That's our jam. This place was everything we wanted the first one to be. Great selection of classic toys. Especially 90's X-men. Totally reasonable pricing and most were brand new. Even G1 Transformers still boxed up. So we decided to ask if the owners had anything in the back that wasn't out yet and BAM! G1 Dinobots in the box came from the back! They also showed us a lot they just picked up but won't be on the shelf for a few weeks. :( The owners were so awesome. They are super passionate about collecting and helping others collect. That's why they don't have their prices like most places. I mean where ya gonna get unopened classic X-Men for $5?!? ARE YOU CRAZY?!? Batman the animated series. Large wrestling section. Ninja turtles(not in boxes but bagged). I honestly had stopped collecting action figures for a lot time and liquidated my collection but this place makes me want back in. Anyway even if you aren't near this joint take a road trip. They had a large store with clearly labeled although crowded, aisles of comic, anime, cartoon, manga, clothing, and other items. This store is clearly a comic book lovers dream with a library of new and vintage ones that were for sale. They even had a basement area filled with comic books to purchase in bulk and video games to play. All in all, if you are looking for a specific comic book, manga merch, anime merch, Funko Pops and the like to add to your collection, this store is a must visit.

And initially they stuck by that, but in the last week. They've gone in the complete opposite direction at least in terms of Pokémon cards. I got one Shining Fates ETB for the normal price of $55. While other customers received 2-3 at a time. Darkness ablaze booster box for the usual $144. I am a frequent customer and spend a good amount of money in there. This week, everything got bumped up, not a little but significantly. $6 a piece for a darkness ablaze pack, $200 for a booster box. Tins for $45-$50, and good luck finding any shining fates because they are held for others. It's just sad. Everyone is scalping and getting top dollar elsewhere and they decided to follow suit. I'll be avoiding them until they return to their normal practice.

I found some obscure tabletop RPGs including a Goblin Slayer RPG and an OSR adventure called The Seven Deadly Skills of Sir Amoral the Misbegotten. My favorite finds are cheap weird stuff from publishers I've never heard of. It looks like 2nd and Charles is adding clearance sections to many areas -- I found them in horror, mystery and science fiction -- and this is a welcome improvement. Going here was a nice morning break from driving that conveniently had a popular food truck in the parking lot selling coffee.

Sometimes, you also just need to pop in to get away from the crowd outside. I was walking for a while and came upon the storefront. The windows drew me in, plus I was in need of a good, new book to read. I came in and had no idea how large this place really was from the outside. I wandered around inside until I found the sections I wanted to be in. I browsed for a bit, jumping from section to section. I had one book in mind and was out to find it. Unfortunately, the book was not yet released. I had to ask where it was. That's when the staff were super nice and told me the date. I thanked them for the information, and was about to leave. That is until I saw an amazing tote behind the counter that had a print from the my favorite book when I was little. 'The Monster at the End of the Book' I thought the tote was just one sided, having Grover saying 'You turned the page.' Only to come and discover that when you turned it to the other side it has him saying 'You turned ANOTHER page.' Quickly became my new favorite tote to take with me.
