Found SeaSide Hobbies in Ocean View, DE on a simple iPhone search for hobby shops. The directions were a bit odd...takes you off the main highway into a residential area through a narrow street lined with older houses. Surprising to find this location sitting here by itself and still in business so far away from city and commercial areas! Turns out this is a 90-year old ex-bait & tackle shop; this owner has been here since 2000 selling train items. The shop is jam-packed with new and antique collectors items - which makes it a real gem for the small gauge hobbyist. A must see for 'railers' who pass thru. They don't have much else other than small selection of magazines & hobby supplies. The owner is super-friendly, enthusiastic, and easy to talk with. Remember Delaware has no state sales tax! In a time when hobby shops are completely dying out - - get here while it lasts!!! Recommended. read more

This store is a hidden gem. i stop in every summer when on National Guard duty at Bethany Beach. The owner runs a great customer friendly shop and his prices are very competitive, and remember, no sales tax. From the first time I walked in this shop almost 20 years ago, Craig, the owner goes out of his way to help me and is just an overall nice, good hearted person. This place is AMAZING....def worth a stop on the way to, or from the beach (if you're driving out that way). My boyfriend insisted that we stop to look at kids toys...I was reluctant and tired, but as soon as I pulled up and walked inside, I did NOT regret this decision. Remember in the movie BIG when Tom Hanks is so excited to just jump around and step on a giant keyboard? That's how I felt when I saw all my childhood toys displayed before my eyes. What's the best part about this amazing establishment you ask?....for me, it was the giant Nintendo game collection in the back, in alphabetical order you could find every and any game you'd ever played growing up in the 80's....this was it for me. Then you make one turn and another and it's like you're playing with boats in the bathtub all over again while being washed. The best nostalgia one girl could ask for. What an awesome little shop! This place is off the beaten path but well worth investigating. They have trains all over the shop, many set up and many to purchase. There was an older gentleman who showed my boys the trains they have running and made the horns blow. They had lots of old toys to purchase and look at. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The guy even let my husband take an item to see if it will work for him and trusted us to come back tomorrow to pay! We will, of course, but you don't see that type of trust often these days! read more

Great people and great train store. Good inventory at good prices. They are helpful and friendly. I have N Gauge trains and they have a good selection of supplies and trains. Lots of HO and O gauge as well. I have had several engines which they repaired. Bought several engines and other cars there including HO for my grandson. They treat you fairly on pricing and are helpful and sharing in advice overall I rate them as a 10+ better then any other Hobby shop I have ever felt with. read more

This shop has an excellent selection of both new and used trains with great prices. And the staff is always so willing to run the trains for young train enthusiasts to see. If you are purchasing a used train, they will run it on the track to make sure it is in good working order. My son could spend hours just looking at the impressive inventory.
