Me and the hubby absolutely love The Beer Nut! They're so close to our house, we're probably here…read moreabout once a week at this point. They have certainly rescued us from boredom during the past year of limited travel and socialization. We've capitalized on this time by brewing like fiends! and The Beer Nut has been there every step of the way by providing all the necessary supplies! We've appreciated that they've had very responsible business practices during the pandemic. They require masks and only allow a handful of customers in at a time. If the door is locked during business hours, this is why. Just wait outside for a customer or two to leave, and you should be welcome to come in! They have very competitive pricing on most items. We have our own grain mill so we've been buying their 50lb bags of bulk grain and grinding it at home. They have the full range of supplies. Everyone from beginner to advanced homebrewers will find everything they need to make a batch of beer. In addition to beer supplies, they have wine and cider making supplies. The best thing they have is the rentable fruit press. So if you have more fruit than you know what to do with, you don't need to own a bunch of fancy equipment to turn it into a delicious fermented beverage. The only criticism I have is that sometimes they are out of things but considering how popular homebrewing has gotten in the past year, this is probably unavoidable. I've been impressed by the variety of the hop selection throughout the entire pandemic. Thank you for staying open! and keeping us entertained during this pandemic!

From the second i bit into the probably-should-have-let-that-cool-down fried pickle to the last…read moreswig of my beer flight, Utog brewing was everything i wanted and more. Parked for free streetside nearby and walked over, got on the waitlist and was texted to return after just 15 mins. Seated and we already knew the food we wanted, but took a moment to go through the beers to choose 4 each for our flights. I was so excited to try out the place and their homebrewed drinks! My salad was massive, with charred grilled chicken and a delicious buffalo sauce. The appetizers were amazing as well, you HAVE to try their fried pickles!! It was super hot outside so the beers were extra refreshing, I really loved their IPA but their stout fell flat for me. I can be picky! Their Porter also shone, delicious and unique! Service was friendly and super fast. I asked for some modifications on my salad and they did not mind a bit. Grabbed a pint glass on the way out. Would love to come back here and watch a game from the back patio, which is shaded and has misters (and a kid area!).

This is a fun, and loud place, and the place has character! We got toasted ravioli in red pepper…read moresauce (which was basically the red pepper bisque). Delicious! I could easily eat the bisque alone. We ago got the garlic cheese curds, and the Mac n cheese which was phenomenal! Last time we came, the weekly appetizer was spinach artichoke dip, that was so good, I got a second serving as "dessert" (another day). Their regular menu is great, but I also love the rotation, to add a little more variety. It was very busy, and we mentioned we were trying to make a show later, and they took care of us, and we made it on time.

For those familiar with the PNW chain, Squatters feels like the Utah equivalent of McMenamins, in a…read morecertain way: certainly not in quirkiness, style or ambiance (of which they could not be further apart), but in their ubiquity - it seems like they're everywhere, even though there are only four(?) of them. We visited at least two, during our four days in SLC. This one was the first: a cathedral-style brewpub with a sports bar aesthetic, with decent food, decent drinks, decent service, and decent prices. Everything was decent. You're not likely to be disappointed by anything you order, but you're not likely to be blown away by anything, either (another thing Squatters has in common with McMenamins, I'd say). During our second visit (to another location, but I'm sure the same rule applies), our party was only interested in ordering drinks (one per person, mind you), but we were informed that we *had* to order some sort of food to accompany them (I'm sure this is more of a Utah thing, rather than a Squatter's thing, but still annoying), so bear that in mind if you're looking for a place to just chill with a beverage and watch a game. Still, the vibe here is lively and friendly; assuming your server is as well, which was a coin flip, in our experience. For a fast, casual chain of brewpubs, Squatters has a lot going for it, and I can see why they are popular, as clearly as I can see ways in which they can improve. A little more focus, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence, and Squatters could absolutely dominate in SLC, and beyond.

We had a big group of people so they split us up which was ok. We had 2 long tables with 2 waiters…read more I did feel the other table waiter was more personable than the one I had. I ordered a salad and it was huge and fresh. We also had lots of apps that were good. Some were good sharing sizes some def need to order a few. Others seem to like their food too, but this is your classic American fare and pub food hard to get wrong.
