We ended up at Offshore after a brief visit to another spot on Kennebec with a "full bar" had no rum. We were seated outside without a reservation and waited on by an energetic young girl we'll call "H." I started with a Lazy Frog IPA and Lisa had a cosmo (2 stars). The IPA was hoppy and a bit bitter just how I like them. We ordered a bottle of wine but our meal came so quickly (brought by a nameless waiter), "H" hadn't even brought our wine for tasting. I had the pub salad which was pretty good, a nice vinaigrette over some endive and other greens with pears, candied walnuts and bleu cheese (a personal weakness of mine) with chicken for protein add and avocado for my keto religion. This review would've been better if the service was better. H loved to talk, had all the outdoor tables (4-5) and spent to much time talking about her second job and selling those wares to other folks. BLUF: A nice tiny restaurant offshore on Martha's vineyard that will cure any ails that you have from walking around! We were just walking around at Martha's Vineyard looking for a place to eat and we stumbled upon this place! It was the perfect restaurant for a nice beer on a summer day with some local eats and seafood. Also a plus - the place is dog friendly which was perfect. I loved the decor with New England wood, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We were seated quickly upon talking with the host and sat outside with my friend's dogs. The waitress was quick to get our order of drinks and water as it was a little toasty outside, which we appreciated. Being offshore and in Massachusetts, I had to order their lobster roll. I had no regrets because it was so rich and full of lobster! They definitely did not hold back on the lobster and the bun was buttery and flavorful. They have a good selection of brews and other food that is very affordable. If you're in the area, I recommend coming here for a stop or a brew in the garden. My husband had a fish sandwich and said it was good. I shared his truffle fries because they were too perfect not to steal. I had the BBQ Chicken wood fired brick oven pizza and it was fantastic. Having worked summers in OB back in the late 90s, I decided to visit the island since I haven't been in over 20 years. Tons has changed but offshore ale still remains. I became friends back then with brewmaster Mike Andrews who is no longer with the brewery. Beer is still great but a particular server who was training another server, accused me of having a "staring problem." I was taking in the building and all the new staff etc. I've never been so insulted which is disappointing considering the high regard I had for this brewery. Without question, management should immediately terminate this employee as I am positive she has done same in past to other customers and will continue to do so. read more

My family and I enjoyed this place in the summertime while the weather was beautiful. The food was average and we would not necessarily come back. The service, however, was very good and our waitress was polite and wonderful with our two girls (7 and 9). We ordered a thin crust pizza and our daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla which she did not really like. My husband got wings that were only OK. The set up outside is OK but if you want outdoor seating I would sit at another restaurant overlooking the water instead of this small outdoor arrangement. read more

We loved this find on Martha's Vineyard and you can tell it's popular because it was packed on a Friday evening with locals and tourists alike. It was a bit loud, but not so loud that I couldn't near my husband talk. I like my bars a bit on the loud side. For me, it adds to the fun of being out. I had one of the lighter beers and it was really good. (I downed it all and should have had another.) Pretty tasty! For dinner I had the steak skewer and it was delicious. It was a bit fatty for me in spots, and yes, I know, that's where the flavor is. Believe me, I ate it all! This is odd, but my favorite part was the peanuts. I love peanuts but because they pack a caloric punch I refrain, except when I'm on vacay, do I dug in and I swear I ate half the bowl! It's so fun to throw the shells on the floor. The dude at the next table couldn't believe I just tossed them there. He looked as his girlfriend with a shocked face. I smiled and told him that it was totally ok. He joined in and tossed away. You can't see the ocean, but it's just a few blocks away! Now I would give this place 5 stars, but the service was sub-par. Other than that it was great. The hummus appetizer is great, and the detox salad filled with quinoa, edamame, and pumpkin seeds was so delicious and filling! The blueberry beer they had was really good, and my family also got a lighter ale made in house and it was really good too! Offshore is good for vegans, meat-eaters, and vegetarians alike. On an island where there are a lot of breathtakingly expensive restaurants and very few places that truly impress the palate, the Offshore Ale Co. is the place you go when you want a genuinely tasty, unpretentious meal with a reasonable price tag! ALLERGY WARNING: If you are allergic to peanuts, DO NOT GO HERE!!! They serve bowls of in-the-shell peanuts on each table to munch while waiting for your order, and people are encouraged to just toss the empty shells on the ground. Obviously, if you are deathly allergic, there is no way to guarantee that your food from this restaurant wouldn't be contaminated by peanuts. This restaurant is WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE, at least in order to get into the entrance of the restaurant and to a table. I didn't use the restroom while there, so I can't attest to that degree of accessibility. If you're planning to go on a busy night, either call ahead and warn them that you need an accessible table or give yourself ample time to get seated, because almost half of their seating is in booths. As you might imagine, the FISH'N'CHIPS here is superb, the way you imagine it should be, given that you're on an island, less than half a mile from the water! Given that this is New England, of COURSE they have vinegar and tartar for your fish and chips...and the helping is hefty, so you won't walk away hungry! At $16.95, it's a very reasonable price for a delicious dish!! One night, I ordered the Shrimp Pasta off the specials menu, and boy, am I happy I did!!! It was delicious, buttery, with tomatoes, onions, and basil tossed in...DEEELISH!!!! I would go so far as to say that I've never had a bad meal here. And this is a family-friendly restaurant, too, which is nice. We brought my baby niece here when she was just 1 year old, and the staff treated her nicely. She was well-behaved, too, considering the late hour, but what helped keep her attention was that there were other families here, too, with small children, and the kids all seemed to enjoy staring at each other, smiling, interacting. Oh, and accordingly to my dad and my partner, the beer here is awesome, too! The latter likes to buy a growler to bring home and nurse in his spare time :) I like that there is a restaurant on the Island that is open all year round, where you can get a hearty, home-cooked-style meal, and when your bill comes, you won't choke on how expensive it is! Step-by-Step Plan to having a great afternoon: 1. Start with a blueberry ale 2. Take a brewery tour and sample multiple brews 3. Have another beer with lunch whose name included "frog" This place is the whole package. Service was superb during our pre-tour beer, the tour, and lunch. We lucked out and had the same super helpful and awesome waitress at the beginning and end. She helped us figure out the tour (go up to the bar, and sign up ahead of time FYI), had great insight about the different drafts, and was the perfect amount of attentive. The tour was just the right length of time, not too short and not too long. Our guide was the assistant brewer I believe, and incredibly knowledgeable not only about their process but about different brews in general. For food we started with the calamari, which was perfect. I could have eaten it all day. I then had the pulled pork sandwich, which I almost always eat strangely (I prefer to avoid the bun and eat the pork with my french fries, don't ask me why). Here, however, I ate it just as the chef intended, delicious bun and all. It was fantastic. The pork itself was perfectly tender and seasoned to perfection. The fries were completely scrumptious. I cannot for the life of me remember what dining companion had but I remember that he loved it (He's much more adventurous than I, so I don't always try his meals). By the time we finished, we couldn't possibly imagine eating dessert, although we wanted to. To finish it off, they had bottles of beer available to take home! I believe my 22oz bottle of East Chop Lighthouse was $3.99. Um. Yeah. That's incredible. Needless to say I was thrilled with the entire experience from start to finish. read more

We were walking around and stumbled upon this place during our adventure. If you are looking for drinks, then look no further. They have a lot of different kind of beers to choose from. I was a little confused when I saw the sign about peanut allergy. When I walked in, I realized why there was a warning sign. They give out peanuts and after you finish eating one, you can throw the shell onto the ground. It was interesting seeing the whole ground covered in peanuts. I've gone to Offshore many, many times and can't believe I've never reviewed them before! Offshore is ALWAYS my final stop at the Vineyard after I bike around all day. It represents my "award" after a hard day of exercise. Why? Because Offshore has some of the best food and beer in the area - and is, in my opinion, the best brewery on the Vineyard and on the Cape in general. Highlights to the beer menu include (in my opinion) their seasonals (always outstanding), their Hop Goddess Imperial, and their Stouts. As for the food, HANDS DOWN their mussels are the best I've ever had. Ever. And I've had a lot of mussels. However, all their food is very good. I typically get their hummus plate, their mussels, their truffle fries, and oftentimes their pizzas, which are all very good. As for the atmosphere, it's always fun to go to Offshore! The space seems huge, but technically isn't - it's just because most of the space is taken up by the brewery itself. This is a great place to watch games and hang out with friends. read more
