As you can see from my profile, I rarely leave negative reviews. I'm generally a friendly and happy person and give people the benefit of the doubt. However the service last night was beyond disappointing. It was unhelpful and rude. I went in to OfficeMax to drop off a Fed Ex shipment. This is something I have done in the past at this store with various levels of success. Last night was the worst. I will clarify that the kid in the front (not the printing dept) was extremely friendly and helpful so this is not directed to him at all. I approached the printing dept with my an image of the QR code to drop off my Fed Ex package. This is something I have done numerous times at various other places esp the UPS in Carefree. They scan the QR and take your package. Usually a Two second interaction. You drop off and leave. I'm greeted by the worker and when I show my QR code, she holds up a sign that says they don't do QR codes. She then (rudely and unhelpful) tells me to drive 25 minutes away to another Fed Ex store to drop off my package bc nothing can be done by her. She gives me a map of this distant location. Now it's not her fault that they don't do QR codes but her attitude is inexplicably hostile and disinterested. I'm generally a nice and friendly looking person so I'm a bit taken aback by this because people aren't usually rude to me. So I'm kind of surprised. Anyway, back to the QR reader. First, it's 2025. How does this store not have a QR reader or a solution for customers who were given a QR code for their package. It's basic technology since at least 2015. So this place is ridiculously outdated. Second, since I'm under the age of 100, I realize there must be other solutions other than driving for another 25 minutes (with a printed map!) to find a store with a QR reader. Notably the associate doesn't ask me if I have the original email which may provide a link to the physical label. I didn't bc it was my husbands package, but this could have helped another person. However this associate was not interested in being helpful and was actively rude. Within a few minutes of considering my options, I realize I can print the label myself if only I could use the QR reader on my phone (every phone has this) to scan it. However I can't scan my own phone with my phone. I ask the associate if there is somewhere I can forward the QR code like a store email, another phone, etc so I can use my own phone scanner to scan. She says no even though I know the store has an email address bc I have emailed items to be printed before. There's just no solution according to her. Her only suggestion other than leaving the store: call another person I know who has a phone to come to the store with their phone and then scan from them. (How Office Max hasn't trained any of their associates to deal with this is the worst part of this whole scenario). At this point, i was considering asking the nice kid up front or just a random customer to help with a QR scanner bc the print desk person was so rude. It literally would have taken one second to scan and email the label to the store from ANY other phone. Anyway, I end up realizing I can pay to print the QR code and then scan the printed version. However, in the lengthy time this was happening, my husband ends up emailing the label and I just pay to print that instead. I finally bring the printed label back to the associate. She's completely rude and unhelpful yet again. I guess she was having a bad day. It was so strange. I end up putting my package in the outside drop box just bc im not sure if she's going to do something to the package. (This was the level of hostility I was getting.) In the end, what is normally a ten second interaction at any other store took 20+ minutes with a lot of angst and frustration. Office Max gets a zero for not having basic technology at a supposed print and ship center. And the associate gets a zero for being absurdly and almost villainously rude and unhelpful. Lol. I will not be returning to this store. By the way it seems customer service is the number one complaint about this store so maybe the store should learn from that and do some training. read more

OfficeMax is located in the Summit shopping area. I needed a ream of copy paper. Lucky for me they were having a sale on paper. I was able to get what I needed on sale. Always a good thing. Shared parking lot. read more

I visit this Officemax a few times a year to use their self-serve printers. It's the easiest thing. I email the document(s) to the printing email and it gives me a code which makes the documents magically appear at the printer. I make my paper size and color selections and I'm out the door faster than I can say "do you have a paper clip?" Always a great and seamless experience. read more

I came to this office Max years ago and didn't have a great experience but can I just tell you that James and the printing department is absolutely a GEM!! he goes above and beyond and is super kind way to go office max for shifting the atmosphere and hiring incredible team members read more

Their in-house branded products are poor quality. For instance, how can you screw up scotch tape? Their cheap tape rolls don't cut off evenly, and after taking the tape off something, there often is a sticky substance left on the item taped. Not sure why a big company would risk their reputation by selling junkie products. read more

I had just left a Best Buy where no one helped me so I thought trying a smaller store would be a better bet for getting some actual customer service but again disappointed! I really want/need to buy a new computer but again had the experience of absolutely no one helping me! I really prefer to avoid buying off Amazon to see products like a computer in store but it's been completely frustrating and useless even trying to get any help. I won't go here again when I'm in need of other office supplies based on this experience. I get they don't even care about reviews anymore and the whole situation is just disheartening. read more

Put in an order online to print some large poster prints. They were completed same day and was able to pick up inside. Employees were friendly. Prints were perfect. Didn't see the curbside pickup even though they said it was an option. Didn't have time to look around the rest of the store but it look well organized at a glance. read more

This is the closest OfficeMax to me (I have no idea why it says I'm from SF) and I regularly print documents and purchase ink toner. Today I had a very unpleasant experience and felt compelled to review the store at the Summit. I order ink online and drove to pick it up. Now, EVERY SINGLE TIME that I do that I am required to go to the front register to pick it up rather than on the rack or printing section. I did that. There was no one at the front desk. I called out; nothing. I walked over to the print center where two customers were being helped. One of the employees glanced at me and all I said was that I needed to pick up my order at the front register. She said they were "helping other customers" and someone would be right there. I went back to the front and waited and a few moments later that same employee finished with her other customer and came over. She couldn't find my order then she noticed that it had been put on the rack. She pointed at it rather than picking it up and handing it to me. I tried to explain to her why I went to the front desk (not trying to jump the line) and she said customers had to wait their turn. She said it in a snotty way with a big grin on her face then wished me a nice day. ONE, according to protocol since I've been there the ink shouldn't be put on the rack. TWO, there was no need for her to be implicitly chastising me in a snotbag manner. I didn't need to start out my day like this. Shame on her. read more

I came in today 2/21/19 looking for a legal sized three ring binder. Unfortunately the store was out of stock. James helped me to get my binder ordered and even discounted the shipping as a courtesy for not having stock. Very nice. I picked up a ream of paper and some pens for the office while I was there. Went to Office Depot on 90th St in Scottsdale. Bought $100 for printer ink. Had an event the next day for over 1000 people and needed handouts. One of the cartridges didn't work. Handouts were a bust. Went to return today and Bruce the manager refused. Said I had to bring back all the cartridges which had been used in the printer, not just the one. The front line staff were amazing and compassionate. Management, learn from your employees. They've lost a huge customer and thousands of dollars in income. Sad. Disappointed. read more

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Tried to print papers out for work, and the printer was no loading even after multiple attempts. During my time there I was the only one in the store; and three workers stood idly, and did not ask a single time if I needed assistance. They instead were talking, laughing, and sharing stories. Excellent service from the Manager, James, in addition to the cashier. I had an issue with an old printer, and James clearly explained the features of the in-stock and ones that could be ordered, and guided me though the replacement decision. My experience to counter the previous customer's experience was exceptional. I just moved I the area a couple months ago and use their printing services pretty frequently as my printer hasn't been set up yet. The guys who help me have always been great. Was looking for printer cartridges and thought of checking out printers as mine is really old. Was approached by sales associate Chief who was extremely helpful in explaining the different kinds of printers & their advantages/disadvantages over what i have. i really need a new printer but he was not pushy & gave me excellent advice. decided to buy the cartridges instead to see if printer will work again and it did (at least for awhile i hope!). will definitely be back to buy a printer at this store and ask for "Chief" :) read more

Service here needs some serious help. Employees couldn't be less enthusiastic about being at work if they tried. That being said I can get past it so long as you have what I need. On more than one occasion they've unfortunately failed this test too and been out of the toner cartridge I needed. For these reasons I give them 2 stars. read more

Went to this Office Max to drop off a FedEx package, buy copy paper and have a 8 copies of a 30 page report printed and bound. I know good help is hard to find but I found snippy employees who wouldn't even make eye contact when they talked to me. Thank god for Amazon. read more

We came to OfficeMax to get a print on 06/27/19. Andrew helped us immediately. He was polite, professional and extremely helpful. While I hate spending the money on printer ink, at least when you look for your ink cartridge, chances are that Office Max will have it. Oh yea, it seems they sell paper, computers and even office furniture. read more

Small store located next to the target at the summit shopping center. We have stopped in a few times for one or two things. The layout is pretty standard with the selection of electronics in the middle and supplies on either side of the store. They also have a computer center with tech support and printing services. read more

Nice staff. They took a lot of time out to help us with office chairs. We had coupons that wouldn't scan and the cashier made sure we were still able to use them. Everyone seemed knowledgable about the electronics and other products they sell. They also took our items out to the car for us. We will shop there again. read more

I am a long time customer of this store and have been generally pleased. However, I recently had a large picture printed, and, rather stupidly it turned out, forgot my large capacity, high speed, $50 thumb drive upon leaving the store. It was a couple of days before I could get back, and when I asked for it, I was informed that forgotten thumb drives are destroyed after 48 hours, per store policy! I cannot fathom how such an asinine policy could benefit the company, its employees, the shareholders, or, most especially, its customers. They have lost a loyal customer. If you must print items here, for God's sake remember your thumb drive. EDIT: The manager of the store reached out to me. The policy is handed down from corporate, so there is nothing he can do about it. He was most courteous and professional, and now I will continue to shop there. Just don't forget your flash drive! read more
