After several days, hours of combined phone calls, and less than helpful customer service. I've made the decision to add OfficeMax to my small list of blacklisted companies. What started out with a simple online printer purchase (apparently) lost in transit (understandable, resolvable), turned into an interesting expose of the inner-workings of OfficeMax. Could it just be my unlucky experience? Sure - but when you call daily, spend hours repeating yourself, are told conflicting stories by multiple representatives, "promised" and "guaranteed" things will happen that don't, all along the continuum of their supply chain, a strong pattern of ineptness becomes very apparent. read more

I had the police called on me for theft that neither I nor my friend was doing there. He had seen some items in their printers and such that I was looking into. One of the ladies in there (soon to lose her job as I was going to the police station to get the information of the incident) was going in to buy a printer and ended up buying a 2 dollar marker just to get out of there. I will stay with Staples now and will tell everyone I meet and go to school with not to ever shop there ever. You just need to let all your staff members go and shut that store down. My first trip here was not the greatest, I needed help understanding the cost of a print job That I needed same day and the two gals that helped were just very bland and slow and unhelpful. Upon returning later there was a employee named Maisen who listened to what I needed, explained all the costs easily and said she could do it for me right then. We had to troubleshoot what I needed a few times but she was sooo patient and continued to try different things until I was satisfied with the end result. It was such a relief to work with Maisen and I left very happy thanks to her- so glad I went back to try again. read more

Some advice is NEVER to use their online ordering. This place charged me four times for a $400 chair that they did not stock or have available. They would not honor discounts and prices reduced with online codes or commitments from their Very Poor Customer Relations (as others have said). You will be on hold for 30 minutes, can't understand them, can't speak or communicate in English - the worst. Ended up I declined all their bogus charges. The chair would not recline, and was defective. Took it back piece of crap. It was a Shauquille O'Neal 4582120. Recommend you don't buy this, and don't go there. They should close this store - personal opinion. Also the same type of experience at the 2100 S. Store in SLC. So this seems to be just how they do business. read more

I asked their printing services if they could print on tab dividers. They said yes, and they told me it would take 30 mins. I patiently waited in the store, and finally after 2 hours I approached the desk. The supervisor said that she couldn't do it anymore because their software was out of date which made it impossible. She said they could hand write them if needed. I couldn't believe it especially after waiting so long. The rest of the store staff was quite helpful and nice... but I find the printing service unacceptable. read more

Horrible customer service and incredibly LAZY employees at this location. I ordered a printer from OfficeMax.com for pick up the next day SPECIFICALLY because it was in stock locally and I needed it right away. It was on sale $50 off until midnight that night so i ordered it ahead so I could get the sale price. Even though the website let me order it for pick up, it was not actually in stock at that store. When I went in to get it she said "We didn't have one in stock so we cancelled your order". Instead of calling me to see what I wanted to do, getting one from another store, or finding out if I wanted to pick it up in Riverdale instead they just cancelled my order, meaning I missed out on the $50 off sale. When I pointed this out, the employee acted like she couldn't care less and offered no solutions. I went home and talked to an Office Max customer service person online. They told me my order wasn't cancelled, just the pick up had been cancelled and the printer was actually still on backorder for me. I told her I needed it very soon and couldn't wait. She actually did her job, found one for me in Riverdale, cancelled my first order and gave me the $50 discount off my new order from Riverdale. HOW HARD WAS THAT?! read more
