We go here every year for school supplies and also come for our printer ink and other office / school supplies. The store is never busy, which is great, but honestly, they have so much great stuff, wish more people would shop here. They do a decent amount of online orders and print sales so that is good, but we hope this place doesn't get shut down. The building desperately needs repairs and work done and please please update the POS system. Your poor employees have to do so much extra work because of how outdated the POS system is. Riley has been there every time we have shopped here, he is a great employee. We had dealt with the other employees when been there and they all are helpful and knowledgably. The prices are the same if not better than other stores but I rather pay more and not have a busy overcrowded and picked thru items and shop here even if paying a few cents more. We always find what we need and if there is something they dont have we have ordered it to ship to us directly. Riley recently got us signed up for the business membership program and glad we did, we saved over $80 on our recent purchase. Here from out of town and initially skipped this store because of dodgy reviews on Yelp. Nevertheless Swung by to get supplies because of location and was pleasantly surprised to find a clean well stocked store with friendly helpful staff. I guess it's a lesson for me to be cautious about "old" reviews. I'd recommend this store and come back. read more

I come here about once a week. The young lady was always helpful to me. This time the older women on the chair was extremely rude and would not help me. She told me to use the self served machine because she was busy. Sitting on a chair doing nothing. I continue to try and she still would not help me. After that I left and called the store manager. He said sorry and seemed careless as to what happen. Costumer services is important. If you don't like your job then don't work there. Now I am on my way to the west store because of lack of help. read more

I'm a huge fan of supporting small businesses, but after calling all the ones who would carry this item, and finding none, I ended up calling Office Depot. I saw online that they had the calendar that I wanted, after forgetting to buy one earlier in the season. The man who answered the phone was friendly and was happy to hold one at the register for me to pick up that evening. When I arrived, the store was clean, pleasant music playing, and mostly empty, which during a pandemic is a very good thing. Not so good for them probably but good for me. Everyone was masked, there was plentiful signage about masking and sanitizing. The cashier greeted me and asked if she could help right away.I explained what I had come for and she had it right there for me. Not the usual experience at a big box store! Because I had some time to kill I wandered the aisles, and found a couple more things I could use. I really appreciated their efforts to get me just what I wanted very easily and pleasantly. read more

I only needed one thing (brochure/flyer paper), had researched it online to find their brand, and had planned on just running in and out. The paper set up is really spread out, and it took me several circles to figure out that the brochure paper was on a side shelf. There was an associate that was working way down the aisle that saw me walking back and forth but made no attempt to offer help or greet me. Yes, I could have walked down to ask where things were, and I would have if I still wasn't able to find it after another minute or two, but still. My next beef comes with the paper being $5 more in store than the posted online price. I thought maybe I had misremembered the price, but looking it back up I was right. I'm also now noticing an in-store pick-up option that would have saved me money and time. Bummer. read more

Poor hours, selection and service. Try calling first. Sometimes a phone person (person available via phone, not a telco-human hybrid) is there after hours, and actually knows what they're talking about. Stock: Typical cheaply-made Chinese office goods like everywhere else. Just there's not a lot of variety or selection. They used to have good media, but a couple years back they drastically cut most formats (even online inventory) and sold only immation (Memorex-the bad ones) branded optical media. That's the worst, and sadly most prevalent, media being sold, low quality, manufacturing problems abound, most all are coasters, etc. It seems the rest of the inventory followed optical media's example. But hey, I've gotten some OK paper clips here, even if they didn't have any assignment/planners for this year because, as one clerk said after being hunted down, "Uh, it's already April... so... but I see we have some for next year, interested in those?" It's kind of isolated, on the other side of E. Washington Ave. from E Towne Mall. The OfficeMax (same company now, I know) nearby the mall, next to Best Buy, has worse hours and selection though. Is there a better place on this side of town for everyday office needs? ... Not so much, no; although arguments could be made for Target, Goodwill, Shopko, trekking to Sun Prairie or elsewhere in town. So, shopping for office supplies on the east side of town you're pretty much out of luck unless you try to force one of these places to work for you, and are happy with the selection, service and end results. If so, than congrats. Sorry to say but skip this one and try to go to the one on Whitney Way, or a Staples. Oh, lookout in the parking lot: you may get panhandled by a 'homeless' guy, or worse; like just happened 30 seconds ago to yours truly. I swear I've never left this place not feeling awful. Check their ad - sometimes there are 'Sunday/Monday' only deals that might be worth your while. read more

I've literally been standing here for 18 minutes while Gwynn catches up with her friend or whoever is in front of me. I asked to simply print a single shipping label and she said it will be just another minute and continued to discuss weekend plans for another ten minutes. Would definitely not recommend this place for a quick print. read more

While they have a decent amount of products and such, the store layout is a bit wonky. The clerks are almost overly helpful (aka: a bit over-eager), but it's a solid office store with mostly reasonable prices. read more

On Friday September 25 we contacted the print area via phone regarding memorial flyers for our mother's funeral services. It was an unexpected death and we did not know time tables on these kinds of things. We arrived later that day and spoke with Cassandra in person. We want to let you know that Cassandra went above and beyond for us. We are very thankful for everything she did for us. She is the kind of employee that you want working for you. As a manager myself for the last 20 year, she did everything to perfection. In our eyes she deserves a raise for outstanding customer service. Again, thank you for having such a wonderful employee working for you. It's not too often that you run into these types of employees and you should feel honored to have her. read more

I walked in to buy some folders and saw a sign that said "We Fix Computers". I asked if they worked on Apple computers and an employee said "Yes". After discussing the symptoms of my computer the employee said "If I can't turn it on how am I supposed to diagnose it?" which is weird. He then told me it was probably the motherboard and I had a "40 pound paper weight". I took my computer to Tech Heroes, they diagnosed it as a graphics card issue and replaced the card in my computer for $100 total. Totally incompetent would be an understatement. read more

I recently bought a desk that was on sale at Office Max. It turned out to be one of the dumbest decisions I ever made. LIE #1 On Sunday, my husband and I bought a desk from Office Max/Office Depot. We bought it because of the excellent 50% sale that was going on. We arrived at the store when it opened at 10AM to make sure that we were still able to get it. Turned out that there were none in stock and it would be shipped to our house. LIE #2 While checking out, my husband was told that Rewards members were getting 20% back on furniture purchases, so he should open a card. He did. When we were rung up by another cashier to pay for it, the cashier may have put it on my teacher card. Regardless, after registering both cards, neither one of us received 20% back in rewards. LIE #3 The email sent to us said that we were getting our desk on August 2nd. I took the day off to stay at home to make sure to be here when the desk arrived. The link in the email to help track where it was did not work. In the email, I was told it would be between 8:30-5. At the bottom of the email, it said it would be here by 7, being that we are in a residential area. By 5, it was not here. LIE #4 I called Office Max and got a woman named Christine (or some form of that). She was helpful and willing to make the situation right. She said that she would call the carrier herself to see where the shipment was. She told me to give her 15 minutes. She never called back. After 7, I called Office Max again and spoke to another woman. This is reference #9219490. She was incredibly helpful, but told me that the carriers stopped delivering at 5. She wrote an email to the carrier while I was on the phone (or I believe she did) to make sure that the desk should be delivered today. The next day, I wrote Office Max this text above in an email. I also had a 25-minute instant message conversation after waiting three more hours, to which I was told that they would put in a ticket to see what was happening with my order. They said I would have to wait four more hours before I heard anything. I reminded them that I had already been waiting 27 hours by that point, to which he moved me up to having to wait 1 hour. I told him that if I did not hear anything by that point, I was going to be back. He was also offering to refund me $20, although he originally offered $10 for all my troubles. Three minutes to when the hour was up, the carrier (CEVA) called my husband and said that they weren't sure why we were told we were getting it that day, being that they hadn't even picked it up from the warehouse yet. They said that they would make an appointment to drop it off. When my husband got off the phone with the carrier, then Office Max called back with great news!! (News that we already knew...). Meanwhile, Office Max responded to my email and they were apologetic, giving me my 20% in rewards. They also contacted the manager of the store I bought from and told him to contact me within 48 hours. 72 hours later, he finally left a mumbled voicemail. LIE #5 The desk FINALLY arrived today. The carrier told us they would call us 30 minutes before they arrived. They did not. Good thing I didn't step out to go shopping like I originally planned. Otherwise who knows when I would have got it. I am incredibly disheartened and furious by the transactions I had. I had to take time off and to rearrange my schedule for the chance of the desk coming. There is no reason why the carrier or the store could not have communicated with me or my husband in that it was not going to be arriving. I am furious that I essentially wasted two days waiting for the desk that never came. It's completely unprofessional and I will not be buying any more furniture from Office Max. read more
