Museum acrylic upgrade - definitely worth it for the anti-reflective surface.

Very happy with the custom framing team (Aaron Brothers) at the rear of the Michael's store in Greenway Station (Middleton). Angie exceeded my expectations framing my signed NBA jersey and had great ideas on how to place photos and a patch. She chose the colors to match the team uniform. Since this is my favorite player, I opted for the museum acrylic upgrade and am very pleased with the anti-reflective surface. Overall, I found Michael's pricing (during their 70% custom framing sale) to be competitive with local framers because they do volume-pricing on the glass and acrylic upgrades. I am sure a local framer would have done an equally nice job but none could offer the discount on the top of the line museum acrylic. This is the second custom framing job I have done at Michael's and would easily pay for them again.

Messy store, rude staff. Don't waste your money here when there are much better options for craft stores in Madison.

Great selection of goods. However, the store was dirty, disorganized, and infested with moths. Not sure I'll be back.

It's a small, cramped space, but despite that there doesn't actually seem to be much yarn. It's definitely not the kind of place you want to go if you're into "luxury" yarns at all -- and I'm not talking about cost. Most of the yarn is scratchy and cheap-feeling. There are no delicious fibers here for the tactilely-inclined. If you want cotton or acrylic, why not spend a lot less at Michael's or the WI Craft Market? If you're like me, you might answer, "To support local business owners, of course!" And therein lies the problem. The owner of Off the Beaten Path has actually expressed her disapproval of LGBTQ folks patronizing her shop, using it as a meeting space for knitting, or otherwise flaunting their gayness anywhere near her. What kind of an attitude is that to have in the Willy St. neighborhood, which welcomes ALL people? I would never support a business that promotes such disgraceful intolerance, and I hope you wouldn't, either.

Staff's been hit or miss, some are standard retail and others are downright rude. No thank you.
