It's a perfectly cromulent office supply store, this Office Depot is. I stopped in to find some school supplies for one of my kids, who needed spiral-bound notebooks and folders and pens and highlighters and things. They have all that and more here! Everything is well organized and well stocked. The people who work here are very friendly and willing to help. I had a person come up to me, asking if I needed help. I didn't, and then he left me alone to shop and no one else came up and talked to me. Perfect! I love when I don't have to shoo away multiple store associates. It feels so novel and luxurious to be shopping in person for items that you can easily order online, but I wanted to get them from the store because I needed everything today, and I also wanted to inspect the things in real life. My sister is marrying soon, and I needed some last-minute posters and puzzles for the girls' party. I originally ordered them online from a different company, but my delivery package got lost. After I stopped freaking out, I called a couple of places, and only Office Depot on 86th Street told me they could get the printing done fast. They also made sure my poster was printed correctly. I was in a crunch one day last week and needed to get a couple things last minute and I put an order in online and it was ready within seconds. The lady who was working this particular morning was incredibly kind, and very helpful. Immediately showed me to where something was that I asked about and kindly grabbed my package off the shelf(instead of me getting it myself bc I had a pick up order). Just went to the Office Depot located at 3721 West 86th Street and walked in about 10:20 and went to the counter where you mail and ship packages and stood for several minutes and no one came to assist. I saw red shirt employees about and no one said a word to me. Finally I walked over to an employee which turned out to be the manager and told her this was like my third or fourth time in 9-11 months where I've tried to conduct business but no one is at the business counter for shipping. She said they didn't have anyone to work the counter until 10:30 and I retorted that nowhere does that imply that and to just have people standing there thinking someone will come to assist is unacceptable. I told her the way they ignore people coming in, people could simple walk through the doors, scan for what items they want to grab real quick and walk on out with them as no one is really monitoring or giving a care about customer service or business operations. Sadly she agreed with me and I told her I choose their location to do my business with but obviously this is why places are going under, because employees aren't doing their job to help the business and people like me go where they are appreciated and prefer to spend their money where they get good service. I even expressed I act as a 'mystery shopper' and evaluate places I go as to whether the service and or product is up to par and the up to task. There was no 'let me help you with your package', but just a woeful look on her face as I said I'll go elsewhere to handle my business. This place should be shut down. read more

I had great service today at Office Depot. At least three people greeted me and asked if I needed assistance. I was there to use their self service printer. Turns out Sunday morning is a good time to go as the store is empty. The (1 star) printer was a little cumbersome and you have to give it your credit card info to get prints. I had to get assistance to retrieve a receipt and the machine also stopped working during my job. The clerk, Andy, (5 star) was very helpful and rerouted my job to another printer. He also offered me a nice paper bag for my job and stapler. I have been shopping here for years as they generally have what I need and the prices are ok. They have everything from office furniture and supplies to computer repair service. They also print banners starting at $19.98. There is plenty of parking. I'll be back for my next project. read more

Fatih and Kate couldn't have been more helpful on a rush project that they were just as helpful with a year ago...but art changed and luckily I had the e-mails from a year ago! Although we don't need these types of supplies regularly, it's nice to have a place that offers a variety of items to meet our needs. My wife needed some materials and we were able to find them within a few minutes. Checkout was breezy too. My only negative is more the condition of the store: looked rather dirty and trashy by the entrance (particularly just inside) which made an immediate negative impression. Customer service was extremely lacking, merchandise was lacking, and what was there, was over priced based on other stores of the same caliber. The cashier never greeted me, never asked if I needed help and was not inviting at all. Not the best shopping experience needless to say. My printer/scanner went down after 3 years of work greatly. I went to Office Depot at 3721 West 86th St to scan and email a document to my client. Upon my arrival I was greeted by a friendly gentleman asking if he could help me. He not only helped me with the simple task of scan and email, he also ended up helping me with a purchase of a Printer. He was friendly, helpful and professional. I later realized from his name tag his name was Josh Scott, the store General Manger. I am a veteran of Hospitality Management of 46 years operating Hotels and Resorts, have trained hundreds of managers and have taught customer service classes and seminars for years. My experience at Office Depot and the service I received from Josh is among my top experiences in years. Congratulations to Office Depot for a having an effective leader like Josh. My last review of Office Depot was 5 years ago. In those 5 years customer service has almost become extinct. Where have the friendly employees gone? I rarely need office supplies. Every now and then we need a new ink cartridge or a random 3 ring binder. Most stuff you can buy at places like Meijer or on line. Today was much the same. I walked by 2 associates with in two feet of them and not a hello or are you finding what you need. I didn't find what I was looking for but came up with a solution that is more craft then office supply. Young lady up front not at all friendly. I asked if a buy two get one free items rang up correctly before I put in my credit card. She said you need to look at your reciept. I wanted to make sure it came up right before I paid not after. The two or three employees I saw all looked very tired very irritated and very unhappy to have a job. I hate my job most days but I still say hello to everyone that walks in the door and I always say thank you when they leave. read more

DISCLAIMER :: This review is specifically about printing services. I've used this location for many company printing jobs, and I'm convinced that they are not equipped to handle any corporate print jobs. There is typically one guy behind the print counter, Jason, and he's a cool dude. He helps me in any way he can, and that's awesome. But I'm not reviewing their customer service, I'm reviewing their store's capabilities. The printers sometimes break down, and their guillotine paper cutter doesn't cut straight. they've had to go to another facility to finish my print jobs. Also, when Jason isn't there, no one in the store understands my order. I have to explain to three different associates the details of my order. It's quite cumbersome. Finally, my order is done, but it took longer than anticipated, which isn't good if you're working on a deadline. read more

I went in to get resume paper. I asked the lady standing by the door and she just points to an aisle. I asked her to help me when I couldn't find resume paper under $21.99. She proceeds to tell me "I don't know anything about paper". Then why are you working at a dang Office supply store.
