I was offered to use the Bauer 3D Skate Lab foot scanner for sizing and based on my results the staff picked four different pairs of skates for me to try on. For each pair, I got to lace them up, stand up/walk around in them, and try them with insoles. When I finally chose a pair staff offered to have the skates baked, molded, and sharpened all for no additional cost. And in addition the skates I picked were the newest model in their line for a very affordable price.

Everything is well organized and if you can't find what you're looking for here, then you probably shouldn't be playing hockey. Ever piece of equipment is organized by type, size, color, etc. The have walls of gloves and shoulder pads, plenty of helmet and pants options. The skate selection is probably their weakest point. They have plenty of skates to choose from, but not a whole lot of variety. If you're into high end CCM/Baurer then you should be able to find what you're looking for easily. Although a bit on the expensive side for my taste, the stick selection has a lot of depth. Any brand, style or flex you can think of, they have. If you're not a player or coach and just a fan, no worries. Total Hockey has lots of apparel for both men and woman and the kids. Videos, games, video games even are on hand. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable so if you're new to the game or just aren't quite sure what size hockey pants or skates are right for you, they will help you out.

If I find a club I need to fill a broken set, it is always priced too high (they are higher than any other Play It Again Sports (PIAS) by 20-500% for exact match club brands) and they are unwilling to negotiate a lower price except by less than 5%. By comparison to other Play It Again Sports - Shaumburg, Crystal, I was able to purchase the 2 needed clubs at 25% and 16% of the "negotiated" price of an identical club at the Waukegan Ave PIAS store. I do not recommend this store for any golf items. I will never again go to this store for any reason. It is not worth the trip (25 mi.) to waste my time. DB

At the west side store they didn't have the products I needed and the ones they did have were drenched in dust and priced about 40 percent higher than competitors. There's no lighting in part of the store and the counters at the front looked like a salvation army with their disorganization. In short, they don't answer the phone, the people across the company don't know what inventory they have and feed you disinformation and their store was dirty and overpriced compared even to the chain stores. I asked to try two specific well rated skates (Bauer Supreme's, Vapor 2X)but was told they didn't carry them in my size (11's) and if I wanted them the manager would need to order direct from Bauer and have me pay up front. No thanks. Went to Pure Hockey a few days later. They had a far better selection and I felt like I was talking to people who knew their stuff. It was a better experience by far and that really surprised me.
