Stopped here because another restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We don't regret eating here…read more The food tastes absolutely delicious and the prices are outstanding for the amount of food you get. I had Mel's omelette and had to make it a two egg instead of a three egg omelette. The waitress told me that the omelette would be filled "pretty good" and she was right. The omelette comes with bacon, ham, sausage, bell pepper and onions. It also comes with hash browns, two biscuits and gravy. I knew it was too much for me but wanted to taste all. You can order a la carte but the platter is only $1 more. The diner was packed, but the wait is very short. The wait staff is fast, friendly and very attentive. Definitely highly recommend eating breakfast or lunch here. They close at 2 pm.

We were traveling I 24 and wanted something local instead of another chain restaurant. Parker's was…read moreexactly what we were looking for. I ordered the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, and it was enormous. The bacon was cooked perfectly, crispy without being overdone, and there was plenty of it. The toppings were fresh, the cheese was generous, and the burger was so big I couldn't finish it all. I wanted to, but it simply won the battle. One of the things that makes Parker's unique is the atmosphere. The walls are covered with horse racing memorabilia and photos. The owner is involved in horse racing, and the racing theme gives the restaurant a personality all its own. And don't leave without trying the ice cream. We had the soft serve, and it was absolutely delightful. It was the perfect finish to a great meal. This is the kind of classic American drive in that is becoming harder to find. Freshly prepared food, generous portions, local character, and a memorable experience. If you're passing through Paducah, Parker's is well worth getting off the interstate for. We'll definitely be back.

Burger was pretty gross, poorly seasoned cheap frozen patties on a soggy bun. They have the good ice for drinks, the tiny ice chips. Fries were good. The lighting and theme inside is cute. Bathrooms were dirty, no changing table in either bathroom. Update: Ended up a little later on with terrible tummy trouble.

We got the sampler platter which had chicken, brisket, pulled pork and ribs. The brisket and pulled pork I thought were great. My husband had the ribs and brisket, he liked both those. Neither of us cared for the chicken, only because it was super dry, the flavor was really good but it was just too dry for me. The service was great, the young lady at the counter was very friendly and easy to BS with. Again my only downfall for this place is, it is definitely a hike in the wall place. If you expect 5 star glitz and glam don't bother. I'll be back in the area in a few months, I just might make another stop in here!

We visited Paducah for the Quilt Show, and my wife, a quilter, expressed a desire for barbecue…read more Following a recommendation from a local merchant, we went to Starnes BBQ. The restaurant was quite busy. We secured a table and ordered two sandwiches, an order of coleslaw, and shared an iced tea. My wife is particular about sauces; we both tasted a small amount, and found the sauce to be excessively hot, with the consistency of watered-down hot sauce and lacking in traditional barbecue flavor. While the locals seemed to enjoy it, we did not find it to our liking. Having sampled barbecue in various regions, from California to the Carolinas, we found this to be the worst sauce we've encountered. We did not use the sauce on our sandwiches. The meat was adequately cooked but lacked flavor. The coleslaw was very good, as was the iced tea. The service was excellent. The restaurant is quite small, as evidenced by the previous photos. If you are seeking authentic Southern barbecue, Starnes BBQ falls short of expectations.
