Another updated review:…read more Before moving to Tennessee from San Diego, I've honestly never thought about being able to purchase meats directly from a farm. It's amazing: freshness, quality, and taste. We generally do about 2-3 big orders a month. Here's a general list: GRASS-FED BEEFS: -filet mignon -ribeye -sirloin -New York strip -tri-tip -beef rib slabs -ground beef All great!! Usually do about 4-6 of each, every time we order. GRAIN FED: -wagyu short ribs -wagyu tri tip Both very tasty! PORK: -3/4" pork chops in packs of two (we eat these once a week, so good!!) -2" pork chops on our hungrier days are great -spare ribs -baby back ribs We love and enjoy all their ribs. Seafood: -salmon (I wish they were a bit larger but it was good) -gulf shrimps (my fav from here, they're big and we usually grab about 3-4 bags each purchase) Last time we came the owner wasn't there but I believe his daughter and her bf were. I'm not sure if there's a difference but each filets I added on were different price and they charged me $17-$20 each one. I don't remember paying that much for them before but maybe it's something new. Besides that customer service is always great. The bbq seasonings, steak seasonings, and their bbq sauce are pretty delicious as well.

"Quality and fair pricing"…read more OK. I'm in town with the in-laws for the Christmas holiday. Yesterday we stopped at Hampton meats to get a few steaks and some hamburger, and the first thing that I noticed was that the meat is higher than Whole Foods at Whole Foods in Green Hills Nashville. But it's not grass-fed. When we got home, we fired up the grill, my father-in-law cooked some steaks, and he knows how to cook steaks. They looked great, they were tough as nails. OK. I'll let that pass because it happens sometimes. But today, when my husband went to the refrigerator to get out the hamburger, it was grey. I'm attaching a few pictures. (Please note that the iPhone doesn't truly show how gray this meat is. It seems to have added a little bit of color, but this stuff was grey ) Needless to say, the whole family was a little irked, and if I did live here, I would never go back. This meat is horrible, overpriced, and only God knows how old it really is. One more complaint is the girl at the deli counter. I don't know if she didn't wanna work on Christmas Eve day, but she had an attitude that put me right off. She acted like it was a big pain in her fat butt to slice a few pounds of cheese for me. And while she didn't throw it on the counter, she certainly didn't put it down nicely and she didn't say thank you. I was told since Hampton's changed hands, the quality and the service has been subpar. I can attest to that.

I just got an awesome 4-bone slab of beef short ribs, a well-marbled #2.25 chuck roast, and two…read morepackages of the sorriest "center-cut" pork chops I have ever seen.

I dropped off a deer in November of 2020. I told the employee I needed the meat frozen for travel on a plane. I paid $20 for a rush order. Two days later, they meat wasn't frozen. The employee said he could give me someone else's frozen meat. I asked for butterfly cuts but I got a whole cut. THE card showed it but they didn't do it. I asked for my antlers and the employee couldn't find them. We waited 15 minutes and he finally found them. Lastly, he asked how many bolognas I ordered. I didn't order any. He was confused because the card was circled. I spoke to the owner on the phone and told him about the raw summer sausage and asked him how to finish cooking it. He said, "I guess we don't know how to cook summer sausage so I can't help you". That sums up this place. -based on my experience, there is a good chance you are getting another person's deer/meat and not yours.

I did not want but 2 (2 each chuck roasts) and of course my steaks. I received 3 rib eyes! I believe I got the right amount of t bones. But these steaks did not look like what these cuts usually look like. I requested all the roast except 2 be made into ground beef. I only received 28 rolls, which ranged from 1 pound to 2 pound rolls absolutely no consistency in the amount per roll. I honesty don't think these people know how to butcher a cow and certainly don't know how to follow instructions. Also their processing fee was double to what I have paid in the past. I usually don't leave reviews especially bad ones but I've been literally sick over this situation.

I asked her to wear gloves (she handles money), and she got extremely rude and loud, saying that if I was going to eat it raw, then she would wear gloves. She said it several times. I told her no thank you, I don't want it. I did purchase some pre-packaged pork cutlets and when I went to the checkout, she snottily asked me if I wanted a wet wipe after she had given me my change. I said no thank you, just as snotty. I will not be going back to that place again. Oh, and the cutlets had zero flavor, even though I seasoned them. I ate one of them and threw the rest away. This wasn't the first time I was met with rudeness there, but she sent it over the top.

I called your establishment on thursday, November 14th to inquire about your prices on your ribeye…read moresteaks. The nice lady informed me that you had an awesome deal where I could get Australian ribeyes as thick as I wanted them for $11.99 a pound. I explained to her that I need four of them for a family gathering. I then called Friday, November 15th to confirm that I could still get the $11.99 price if I came on Saturday. She assured me I could and again I reviewed with her what I needed just to make sure. So, on Saturday, November 16th I came in to your store and I told the man behind the counter what I wanted and informed him that I had spoken with a lady about getting four Australian ribeye steaks for $11.99 a pound with each being around an inch thick. He reaches down and throws an a whole loin down in front of me on the counter. I explained to him once again what I needed and what I had been promised on the phone. He then proceeds to give me a rude attitude and tells me that he is not going to honor that. I kindly insisted that I received what I had been promised over the phone. He really tells me that he's going to go get the manager. A couple of minutes later another man walks out as if he is put out with the situation. He then proceeds to never make eye contact with me or talk to me about the situation and cuts me four steaks of the sorriest looking ribeye that you could ever imagine... No wider than a New York strip steak. So trying to compromise, I asked him if he will cut a couple more to make up for the fact the steak wasn't even large enough to fill a grown adult. I was treated as though I was a burden and I was lied to, as well. My family has dealt with Hughes Market for years.. we have bought our meat there and we have had many a deer processed there is well. The whole family was very disappointed in the quality of the steaks and we will never again give our hard-earned money to Hughes market. They were so rude and did not fulfill what I was told on the phone. Y'all should be ashamed! The stakes were tough and they had no marbling or enough fat to render it being tender. I specifically asked that question over the phone both days that I called. Such a disappointing experience for my entire family!!!
