I had high hopes for this place since it's conveniently close to where I live. I had tried to visit once before, but they were closed for remodeling. On a recent drive, I remembered wanting to check it out and decided to stop in for a late lunch. Off 87 is spacious, with a large stage to the right of the entrance. I seated myself at the bar and was greeted by a friendly gentleman who asked me what I'd like to drink. They have a decent selection of beers on tap, so I went with my usual. The first thing that caught my eye was the state of the bar - it was noticeably dirty. Dirtier than a toddler's face after spaghetti night. I had a few items with me that I wanted to place on the bar, but due to the mess, I opted to set them on the chair next to me instead. Most bars I've visited are pretty diligent about keeping the bar tops clean, but this place was an exception. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a turn-off. The bartender informed me that it was Happy Hour and handed me a menu, which I found surprisingly sparse. So far, I wasn't exactly impressed. I'm not much of a salad eater, and I wasn't in the mood for flatbread pizza, so I decided to try the Off 87 Burger. The bar had plenty of large-screen TVs showing both baseball and football, which was a plus. When my food arrived, I was underwhelmed. The first thing I noticed was the bun, which was cracking and dry - definitely not fresh. As I expected, the bun flaked apart as I handled the burger. I'm not sure how they're storing their buns or if these were simply old, but it was disappointing. The hamburger patty itself was also a letdown. For a $16 burger, I expected more than a thin patty, though it was cooked properly and still pink in the middle. The fries were reminiscent of Five Guys fries, so they were at least passable. Overall, I'm not sure I'd return. The service was fantastic, but the cleanliness, limited menu, and underwhelming food were a real letdown. It's disappointing because I'm searching for a local spot where I can hang out and watch games. This might be an okay place if you're not particular about cleanliness or the quality of the food, but it didn't meet my expectations. read more

This is definitely more of a drinking place than an eating place. The menu is fairly extensive but a bit confusing, especially after our experience with the food. We had some nachos, which were ok but a little weird. The cheese sauce seemed like it was cream cheese?? We also had pretzel bites, which were decent but not something to rave about. The burger. Oh my. I don't know if I've ever received such a travesty of a burger. The patty was so dry and thin. I don't even know how you make a burger that dry but I'm sure this was a cheap frozen patty. There were no condiments on the burger to help cover up the terrible patty. The happy hour menu is disappointing. Just wells/beers and no fun drink specials or food specials. They do have a $3.87 shot on the regular menu that is bartender's choice if you take a photo at their "mugshot wall". We did this and got some sort of spicy mango shot, and it was chilled, which was a nice touch. The bathroom is odd! It looks a bit fancy, but the locks on the doors are old and get stuck. Several of us had issues with the bathroom door locks. Please replace your old rusty door locks! Getting stuck in a stall is no fun. Our server was absolutely lovely. My family and I have been waiting patiently for something good to pop up in this space! Was it going to be a chain? A brewery? A brunch spot? Nope, a fantastic sports-bar type restaurant! Even better! After we desperately drove around for hours trying to find a place to watch the DBacks World Series we knew that our area needed this! We had a few drinks, the Brussels sprouts, and burger for the adults (all yum). The kicker was that they get kids meals! We need uncrustables! We need lightly cheesed quesadillas! Food is just ok. Ordered meatballs and they were pretty plain tasting. Marinara lacked more seasoning. Needed more garlic pepper salt...garlic fries were undercooked and short rib sliders were just ok. Service is amazing and so friendly! Drinks are tasty ordered a Sweet Caroline and shot of Mexican candy which was their mug shot tonight sooo good! Ambiance is great skewing toward a mature crowd after 8pm. Amazing experience! Bartender came over and chatted with us personally. He let us know he had made an in house special with habaneros and pineapple juice and let us try the syrup he crafted, the jelly he crafted, and made us incredible drinks (Cancun Colada)! Really confusing given the location still listed the previous restaurant and finding a menu was literally impossible (there's no website, it's "launching soon"), which is why I made a point to take a pic to post! The food was great. The beer selection is AWESOME!! They happily and graciously took care of our party of 20. Waited for the remodel and new management change over to see if this location would change. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the food. I ordered the fish and chips for $15, which I felt was a responsible price. I chose the onion rings in place of the fries. When I got my food, the tray that I received had a layer of oil o. The bottom. This was not a good sign. The fish was just average and greasy. The biggest issue was the onion rings. They look like they had been in the bottom of the fry pit and had been there quite awhile. Thet were soggy and burned. I had never seen anything like it ever in all my restaurant visits. To top it off, they added $3 for the onion rings. Drinks are pricey with $12 for wine. The only saving thing was they had music. Otherwise, I would give them 1 star. If this place is to survive, they need to get their kitchen in order. read more

Went on a Friday evening... about six. Already out of specialty cocktails. Brussels sprouts excellent, wings, average, pizza on the photocopied menu (some color copies, some black & white) - not available all the time. Waitress sweet & pleasant. Food took quite a while to come out. Average burgers. Not bad at all but surely not memorable. Their social media presence is excessive & over the top given what they actually deliver on. Maybe spent more time on keeping the bar fully stocked & investing in some actual menus or even a QR code to a nice site would have been classier. We were hoping the new owners would improve the restaurant, but sadly this place is very average. read more

Service was fantastic!! The food on the other hand was not the best, I got the Philly which had very little meat on this massive sub roll. So I squished it all to one end which made 1/3 of a sandwich to eat, fries were great. Hubs got a burger which was a very smashed patty and no use in asking for how you want it cooked because it wouldn't even matter. Kitchen/back of the house definitely needs some training and help in portioning meat. Drinks were great as well. Tried the "new Ginger Monkey" called Off 87. Short and sweet. New paint/new look but how did the food get worse? Food is a 2 at best. This is definitely unfortunate. I was really excited about them IMPROVING their food, but to go the opposite direction is sad. Blue 32 right down the street is the way to go. We had nachos-1.5/2 Chicken sliders(fried) uninspiring-2 Asadero burger- small small patty(think greasy spoon) 2 OG burger-2.5 1 ipa-5 1 mimosa-served in a bucket glass 1/4 of the way full -2 Lemonade Price $80... definitely not worth it. I really wanted to like the place I really really did. I understand that the menu was limited right now, but we went two nights ago. The service was excellent but the food was just horrendous. I literally had a clump of pork sausage on the corner of my plate for my lettuce wraps, it was just horrid my husband had french fries and a hamburger but the bun was like from an Aldi store. It was nothing special and it was extremely expensive for a two patty burger not not good not good at all really you would expect with such a limited menu that there would be better food. The new inside looked exciting a stage lights pool table but people aren't gonna come back for the ambience. They're gonna come back for the food and we won't be back. read more

The menu at Off 87 is extremely limited, rather pricy, and the food is just awful. Best description of the meal we ate is cafeteria food quality. Regarding the staff: The high school age hostesses were absolutely no help, the server was non-existent the entire time, and the manager was very clearly in over his head. 1/2 of a star, tops. This is the worst first-impression we have gotten from any new place in the East Valley. Came in at 6:30 last night (Friday). The 2 hostesses said all the dining-room side tables were reserved, and sure enough, most of them were empty with little Reserved placards on them, but nobody was around to claim them. They told me I could take a table over by the bar if I could find one, and I did, and that's where everything else proceeded to go downhill. I sat at a table by the bar for over 10 minutes, but nobody came by to offer drinks nor a menu. More than 15 minutes later, an assistant manager came over to see if anybody had checked on me, and when I told her no, she had that Titanic-kind of look in her eye that told me she knew the boat was already sinking but that nobody was manning the lifeboats. 30 seconds later, coincidentally, Will the bartender came over and took my drink-order but gave me a crumpled-up, printer-smeared menu that featured appetizers but only a few burgers-- nothing else. Couldn't believe this is what they offer for food at a brand-new place that's trying to attract business. At least the beer was cold, hence the half-star, but it was only available in pints. Other East-Valley bars and grills have options for taller mugs, but not this brand-new place, for some reason.. The atmosphere and design here also really leave something to be desired. They knocked out the wall between the dining-room and the bar, but they left the garage-door open to the patio-area last night, even though it was windy and cold. It's late December. We would have needed to wear our winter jackets to have dinner there, and that's just inexcusable for a brand-new place. My date arrived, and still nobody came over to take our order for another 15 minutes. The few servers were walking around in some kind of teenage trance, and the manager was too busy hanging out and flirting with the two girls over by the hostess stand and photographing groups of his friends as they walked in. We never saw the assistant manager again. I went over to the bar and held up the menu to signal that we were ready to order, but none of the bartenders came over. In fact, Will saw me but instead walked over to the other side of the bar and out into the dining-section to bro-hug and chat with a friend of his. Any time a server does this over taking an order from a customer, you know exactly what kind of service you would have been getting. We said screw it and left. Nobody even came by to collect the money for the drink. At least Ginger Monkey had a full menu, a warmer atmosphere, and better service, though it might have been slow at times. There's an old, saying, that, "You don't get a second chance at a first impression." Since that's the case, we definitely aren't coming back to see what improvements they will make. They have already struck out with us. There are too many other good places to go to instead of waiting for this place to finally come around. Sorry, Off87, your service, atmosphere, and menu were definitely off, so maybe you do at least have the right name for your business. read more

Marissa was our server and she was exceptional--so fast, so attentive, and made our Christmas Eve feel special. we had the shishito peppers (delicious), the fries (great), and the onion rings (incredible). it's the kind of place to bring a group to watch a game (tons of TVs) or just have a drink after work on a weeknight, weekend--anything. great staff and we appreciated everyone's hospitality. read more

Food took a long time to come out, and when asked the waitress where it was, she acted like it came out already. They had a great band, playing some good rock. My friends and I stopped by Off 87 last night after having dinner and some cocktails at another local restaurant. We walked into the bar sat down to have some cocktails and were immediately approached by a waitress telling us we had to move from our table because the owner Jackson was coming along with 15 other people. So we moved to another table 5 feet away. What struck me the most about that request is the bar was almost empty! We are paying customers, the audacity to be asked to move because the "owner" was coming in was off to me. The atmosphere was decent, but the place was quite warm. It would be a better spot to hang out in during the winter. I ordered the pretzel sticks and wings for dinner, and they were pretty good. I would recommend them. The waiter was friendly and apologized for the slow service, explaining that the restaurant was understaffed. It was the first night of college football, so I expected the bar to be well-prepared. However, there was a guy in the middle of the restaurant who was intoxicated and loudly using inappropriate language. While such language is common in Europe, it's not customary in the States, and there were young children having dinner with their families. The manager should have addressed the situation by asking the person to keep it down or to leave. Overall, it was an okay place to meet friends and do our football draft. I would recommend it if you're looking for a place with no wait for a table and pretty good bar food. read more

Service was OK, had to ask for Napkins, plates and silverware. Server was sweet, but didn't provide anything until we asked. Never refilled water in 1 and 1/2 hour dinner. Food, yuck. The boneless wings were sub par and would rather have McDonald's nuggets. The tortilla chips were swimming in grease. After saying we weren't happy with food, nothing happened. At least expected a manager visit to apologize but, nope. Another table asked about our food and when we said we wouldn't be back, they said "same". So sad. Such potential. Tried the new 'Off 87' at their soft opening and again over the weekend. Owners are very friendly and will get to know you. The wait staff (servers, hosts) were very on top of things and were a big help in recommending food. Can't wait to go up there when they have live music.
