My wife and I needed a bowling ball refresh after 10 or so years. Several of my wife's league buddies recommended Off 7 even though it's a bit of a drive from Manassas. We rolled in on a Saturday morning to be warmly greeted by Geoval. Geoval was super patient with the both of us. He asked questions about our bowling before measuring our fingers and hand for drilling a new ball. There was a good selection of balls on hand and he had what we wanted in stock. He sent us away for 30 minutes while he got the balls prepared for us. Upon our return, Geoval had us try the new balls out on his store floor. He noticed we both had some bad habits and helped us with some tips to improve our grip and hopefully our scores. I found his prices to be reasonable and well worth it for the extra service he provides. I'm extremely happy with the work G did to redrill a pair of balls for me. I came in asking for tape due to some thumb discomfort, but G asked to take a look at my equipment to try and figure out the source of the issue. Not only was my second ball incorrectly drilled (it was supposed to be a copy of my first ball), but the first ball had issues with the span. He plugged both balls and shortened the span. Finally eliminating pressure which was pinching a nerve in my thumb for years and years. He also got the pitches dialed in on both the finger and thumb holes. Last week, I decided to get a bowling ball, shoes, and a bag. I was lucky to find Off 7 Bowling Pro Shop. G, the owner was extremely knowledgeable about the sport. He fit the ball perfectly and even helped me with my bowling for right there in the shop. There's an asian cafe right next door. I had a drink there while he drilled the ball. It was done in 25 minutes. He was a little gruff, but nobody is 100% all the time. His great work and advice was priceless. read more

I recently moved to the area and was looking to pick up a new ball after my previous one broke in half. While in the shop I watched G teach somebody the fundamentals of bowling and the physics behind it, he explained why my last ball broke, made a child's day, and he drilled 4 balls all in about the span of an hour and 15 minutes. 100% would recommend dropping by and giving G a visit, it's clear he loves bowling and wants to share that passion with others. The pro shop is not too bad the drilling job is okay but the owner can be very rude and does not treat customers with respect. I had my ball drilled and had to return for the thumb hole not being properly fitted and he was super annoyed and seemed frustrated when I came back in. It honestly was very unprofessional and it seemed more of a chore to him to help me out once my money was spent. Slowly getting back into game again after being away for 10 years and subbed in a league where I met and learned of off7 pro shop.....the place is the best I've ever seen G and his staff told me what I need to be a factor in these leagues and tourneys around here, and set me up with a nice ball but more importantly drilled it perfectly, prob had 40 balls lifetime nothing felt better off my hand then this one No reason to look any place else this place has it all, top of the line balls shoes and everything else you need, if your looking for a pro shop this place is as good as It gets A general update to this post.....a week later in my 3rd set in 10 years and first time using ball after throwing some practice shots at center near the pro shop I rolled up to the alleys and fired a career best 836 could have been more but got worse break in my career ball hit so hard in 10th the 5 pin just slid back and landed in the 8 pins spot......no idea how Bottom line this is the place to go to Thanks G for helping me get set up down here read more

The owner steered me to a few recommendations and did not try to up-sell me on a more expensive ball. The fitting process was painless. Came here with my wife to get some things done and drilled. To start my wife has been having problems with her form and endlessly has been altering her fit and bowling ball arsenal to try to find a solution. Gee assisted us today and took his time to get her hand properly measured to her bowling ball, explained the science behind the grip and how the thumb hole should be drilled to fit her release better. Helped her by adjusting her technique and in reality practically gave her a bowling lesson for her form and release. He took his time, we didn't get the vibe that he was annoyed or impatient. He definitely has passion for bowling and we saw that on his knowledge and his service to explain things in detail. My wife got a ball drilled to fit the exact practice Gee helped her learn today so if it works out we will be back to get her entire bag refilled and redone to that exact spec. As for me I needed 2 bowling balls drilled after discussion with me and what I expected or was looking for he made sure I had a different reaction for different conditions which is exactly what I needed. I can't believe it has been four years since I have bought my ball here! The old owner has retired and the name has changed, but the service is just as excellent if not better. I came looking for a pair of shoes for my wife who has just discovered the joy of bowling and left with a resurfaced ball and a brand new ball! My ball was dull with tons of little scratches and a few nasty marks which were all removed and now the ball looks brand new after being resurfaced! I've been to Spares twice now to get balls drilled that were purchased elsewhere. The owner has never complained, and was happy and knowledgable in helping me get the right fit. I'm a casual bowler, mostly playing for something to do with my dad, so I often did not know what it was I needed. As a shop the caters to pro bowlers and would-be pros, this makes for a somewhat awkward experience. The owner starts off from an expectation that you know what you need if you're shopping in his store. However, he still managed to help me out without seeming condescending or frustrated when I couldn't answer a question. He simply took measurements, had me demonstrate a release a few times, and asked some simpler questions about my style. The end results were two awesome finger-tip balls that have impressed most of my other casual bowler friends. Also, as a pro shop, the inventory does not include much in the way of entry-level balls; if you're looking for a plastic ball, or a cheap starter option that's better than the dinged up rocks they stock at the alley, you'll need to order one online. Once you do, though, it's well worth the minor fee to get it drilled special for you. read more

I love this place, I have gone to other pro shops but it was not until I found G and Jared that I new what it was to have a ball drilled to truest fit my hand. If you are a beginner, come for their knowledge and patience, if you are experienced, come for their honesty. They won't sell you anything you don't need just to make a sale, and they will take their time with you like your the only one there even if there are 10 people waiting behind you. Thank you Gee!!! I've been bowling for over 40 years and Gee is the best bowling expert that I've ever run into. We recently moved to VA from AZ and I was looking for a pro shop to get my bowling ball arsenal reconditioned for the upcoming season. Based on some recommendations from a couple bowling center managers and employees, I went to the Off 7 Pro Shop in Sterling, VA where I met Gee. After a brief conversation, Gee examined my bowling balls, my bowling hand and fingers, and finally my bowling ball release. At this point he suggested that I should get all my bowling balls re-drilled because my current lay-out did not allow me to have a proper "thumb-timing" release. Which I responded, "What the heck is thumb timing?" I immediately suspected, that he was trying to rip me off with/for some services that I really did not need. However, after another 15 or 20 minutes of listening to him; he answered all my questions and it ALL made sense!!! So, I took a chance and had him re-drill all my bowling balls. Once I got my re-drilled balls back from Gee, there was a learning curve--about two months for me. I mean my average dropped about 10 pins and it was rough/tough. It just took time for me to stop my old habits (gripping the bowling ball hard so I would not drop it which meant that my arm was always tense throughout my swing/delivery/follow through) and to start/learn/develop my new habit of relaxing and developing great thumb timing. Well, I cannot argue with the positive results. With my old arsenal I was a mid-190s to low 200s average league bowler looking to break a 625 series every-now-and again. With Gee's drilling and the insightful bowling expertise he passed on, I'm now a high-190s to 210ish average bowling looking to break a 700 series every now-and-again. During this season, I broke 700 series a couple times with my best night being a 789, which included my first ever 300 game. However, the biggest difference since Gee's influence is my consistency, I am now more relaxed and able to hit my mark without pulling, throwing, or dropping the ball during release...i.e. I now string together more strikes. I am a recreational bowler that loves the game. I've used this store before with different ownership, so I figured I'd go back for a new ball. Today I met Gee, who was exceptionally helpful! I liked how he inquired about how I bowl and what I need verse trying to make the greatest $$$ sale. I trusted him immediately. After I picked out the ball I wanted, and he measured my hands, I was ready to leave. He told me to sit 5-10 minutes and the ball would be done. I was shocked as I never had a place offer such quick service. It wasn't like the place was empty as he had other customers in there too. After the ball was done he asked to how I threw the ball and he spent another 15 minutes teaching my how to properly throw a ball.
