Though its seating is numerous and spacious…read moreenough to allow for social distancing and the receptionist and nurse I spoke to are nice, there are still issues to be found with how sanitary it is and the attitude of the doctor I went to see to prevent potential future strep-related reinfections after having four or so this year alone, Dr. Massengill. To be specific, respectively so, a receptionist coughed into their hand without using hand sanitizer after doing that, which is especially worth noting since one of their tasks involves handling cards, including IDs and credit/debit cards. Equally bad is how said doctor metaphorically waved away my aforementioned concerns by rather condescendingly stating I hadn't been infected enough to treat them outside of immediate contexts. The icing on the cake came when I asked what I should do if I get infected again and was told to take more anti-biotics, which is what I had been doing... Going here is akin to a dead-end -- it'd be best to find a quality detour to avoid having to realize that personally.

After having a surgery to biopsy a concern for cancer, my wife had complications that went…read moreunaddressed. In her one week post op appointment with Dr. Karpoff she addressed a lump and pain. Dr. Karpoff did not examine the site or remove bandages. He said it was normal. It was a fluid build up. A month later, my wife reached out to the office concerned a stitch was still at the site. The staff said it was dissolvable not to worry. Ironically, my wife's GP and Dermatologist are both at Crystal Run and they confirmed the stitch was not dissolvable and she needed to be seen. One provider sent pics to the staff. When she went in, they clipped the stitch as close to the site as they could. My wife related the pain and lump at the site. Dr. Karpoff never saw her as he claims, instead the staff said no big deal. He tells a different story of a thorough examination with no abnormality. Almost a week or so later the site was getting red snd swollen. Now, Dr. Karpoff saw my wife and said it was an infection and it happens after surgery. Sure, but two months later? He gave her doxycycline. That weekend the infection ruptured and we were at the ER. The ER doctor said this could have been septic and the infection had been there for more than a week. They were surprised it was not treated sooner given my wife's description of events. I filed a complaint with Crystal Run. Michaela was my advocate. Michaela advised that leadership believes Dr. Karpoff's account, even though he was caught in various lies to being in an appointment, inspecting a site and there is a huge discrepancy between the ER Doctors account for what Dr. k said to what the Doctor claims he said. They also follow chats and any communication and don't find anything suspicious. However they weren't in the exams being verbalized what we were. Leadership covered for the Doctor. Crystal Run also can't help with the additional medical expenses as they happened outside of Optum or Crystal Run network. Even though there is no ER for Crystal Run and when the infection got swollen the CR Urgent Care said they couldn't take the issue, my wife had to see Dr. Karpoff or go to the ER. Crystal Run may have helped with the additional medical expenses caused by this issue had we, after hours on a weekend gone to Crystal Run for an active emergency that their own UC turned away. Essentially, it's not just about the bill. It is the breakdown of patient care that took place by a provider that could have made a huge difference had they listened and not had I know best and more than you attitude. How dare you question Dr. Karpoff in his eyes when it was merely a concern that something isn't right with the healing. Even though a GP and Dermatologist from your Network disagreed and other health care providers I consulted in my line of work all said something was not right from the start. Kudos, Crystal Run and Dr. Karpoff - you a fine examples of exemplary health care and are exactly what is wrong with the system. Not to mention Dr Karpoff has awful bedside manner.

But unfortunately for last few years the sinus infections are back. Anyone who suffers from this knows they suck! So I went yesterday for my appointment and the staff are great. I called when I got there as that's protocol with the whole pandemic. They have hand sanitizer and of course a mask is a must. Wait was not that long. The doctor I saw Caitlin ( who I never met) was very Thorough and great. She looked in my sinuses and told me what I need to do going forward. She suggested another antibiotic as I've had sinus infection for 2 weeks now and also Blood work to be done and then a Cat Scan that I scheduled. When I go back in March, I will see Dr Gordon and after my results we will go from there. If you suffer from sinuses like I do, this ENT Facility is definitely the place to visit. They are very nice and understanding. I'm glad I finally went back!

July 2022 below, May, 2021: THE MAIN ISSUE IS you have to beat everyone there, meaning you have to…read morebe there at 7-715AM (yes, that early even though he doesn't show up until 730),because it's first come, first serve, period. If you have a 745, but the 8, 815, and 9 got there first, too bad. Thats many of his bad reviews but it goes deeper, I've seen it. He has dark/evil side. The biggest smile I ever saw on the mans face was when he yelled at others or at me. Last he said to me was "get out, bye bye" (like a child). The look said it all, he enjoyed it. He enjoys torturing patients or staff(behind closed doors) and watching reactions! Thankfully I can live without the meds he gave me, just hope I don't die from the blood clot and not having the blood thinners. I've suffered severe social anxiety, depression, and addiction for years. I'm getting help at a methadone clinic. 1st appt, he asked what I have been on during treatments and I told him they tried 3 different classes of antidepressants(there are 5 main ones I wanted a different one). The one that I had tried with the least side effects was Prozac so he immediately put me on that. My severe social anxiety(sweating profusely around new people, not able to talk to someone unknown without issues), he said Xanax or Kolonopin. I said no, bad combo with opiates, so Valium. He looked with surprise like "a junkie doesn't want a high?" Xanax/kolonopin mess you up with a stronger high which I didn't want, IVE WATCHED PEOPLE DIE because of these combos. I left with Prozac and Valium that day, but with an offer for methadone. I did once ask for methadone because I wasn't able to get to my clinic for 2 days. So I asked for 2 days worth... He gave 7 which screwed me badly**. I did well for 3 years with that combination and thought I found the answer, methadone, Prozac, Valium. I got down from the massive dose of methadone, 170mg down to 80mg willingly and while clean, then I was forced to switch clinics. **The clinic that got me clean found out about the 5 extra days of methadone I did not want/ask for(and they took them from me) and they kicked me out but THEY HAD TO DETOX ME. Thankfully, I started a new clinic within days but it was never the same. This clinic's methadone is sub-standard, not blocking opiates (like it should) or holding (keeping me from being sick) like the original that got me clean. I told him this too and again, he wanted to prescribe it but I turned it down again with the fear of losing another clinic and my gut saying no. There is a reason they don't allow it, I am an addict. They don't me to have 150 pills/wk. I got tired of being sick every night and relapsed around Christmas, thankfully not for long (3 months) and only once a week. Trouble started the first week of this March. He did a yearly physical, ears, nose, throat, heart, lungs, and checked me physically, even did an echo cardiogram (methadone can mess with the heart). Mid March I had an infection from a missed shot that I didn't realize at my appointment a couple weeks prior. I went to the ER and I'm lucky I did. They found a large blood clot in my right lung 3 weeks after my physical. A clot that would have killed me within a month if not treated. I stopped using too. Finally saw him 5/12/21, the first time since my clot, he didn't mention my relapse or the hospital or the blood clot. Why? Because I spoke to the nurse about my relapse and the methadone I'm on. She twisted it to me shooting up my methadone. He wanted me to admit to it. I refused to say something that didn't happen. The nurse came in and lied again and that was it. No blood thinner, no Valium no Prozac. What about withdrawals? He doesn't care, THANK GOD I didn't give him the power over my methadone or I don't know where I'd be. I don't know how he was as a kid(dads MD diploma on the wall, his came from Mexico), but he has deep issues, he thinks he's better than people. He brings his personal issues to the office. If he's having a bad day, watch out. He is a dangerous doctor in my opinion, and coming from an addict that would have normally taken the script and ran, RED FLAG!!! Read these reviews! Doctors here are pretty good. They have two convenient locations in the Hudson Valley with…read moreappointments being taken in immediately 99% of the time. If you make an appointment and show up on time, you won't wait long at all -- if you wait. Doctors don't seem to make rushed decisions in treatment and normally prescribe treatment before suggesting anything major.

He explains medical issues well, is open and interactive about treatment options, and works hard to come up with a plan that is right for the patient. Highly recommended.
