Entrance - it looks small from the outside but it's massive inside!

We love Odyssey Games! My son is a huge MTG fan/player so I always stop by anytime I'm shopping for gifts for him or if I'm looking for unique board game ideas for the fam. I'm always so impressed by how massive the store is - you wouldn't know it from the outside. They have tons of selection of games and accessories, as well as figurine kits and tools/paint etc. They have a large section of Warhammer items (another of my son's faves). They have a lot of MTG packs and a decent sized case of specialty MTG cards as well as a "dollar binder" of other select MTG cards that my son loved browsing through. And I just love the way the store is decorated - it's such a vibe!! Total fantasy immersion to get you in the gaming mood. They have a massive play area in the back where you can privately game with your own group - or attend one of their many events or tournaments. There's a calendar up on the wall near the play area that lists the current month's events - there's always something fun going on! Staff are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and so welcoming. Prices are decent for the area - pretty much as you'd expect. Parking is free - there's a (very) small/tight lot behind the store but lots of free street parking in the surrounding area and it's very walkable and handicap accessible.

I was introduced to the Flip 7 card game through an event. It was so much fun. I had to return to Odyssey Games (OG) in Pasadena and buy the game. I was lucky to get a parking spot in the back of this shop. It was good for 30 minutes only. That was plenty of time for me. Otherwise, there are street parking on Allen Ave. Please do read the street signs. Besides Flip 7, I also wanted to buy Patchwork, but they didn't have it. Staff was friendly, nice, and helpful. I quickly paid for the Flip 7 game @ $9.99. Price wasn't too bad compared to online stores. It may have been $1 or $2 difference. I rather support physical businesses that are inspiring fun for all. OG is a two story building. Downstairs is where all the games and other merchandises are located for purchase. Upstairs is primarily the gaming area where all the fun takes place. I highly recommend this place if you're crazy about board games and more. It's a great spot to meet new people and create connections. Thank you OG for bringing the OG fun!!

I had an absolute amazing time here. The place looks very small from outside, but it's super huge on the inside with two stories a large space for you and your friends to play games. Plenty of parking outside. The customer service is amazing. The selection of games is outstanding in the value was great.

Never knew this store was here till I went for a Yelp event with some friends. Great place with lots of space. My nephew is BIG into Warhammer which is hard to find, but they have it here so I will be brining him back for sure!

One of the best game stores in LA. A lot of space given to the players. You can always find a game to join.

When I walked into Darkside Games, I wasn't greeted. One employee was helping a customer with a trade of multiple Pokémon cards, which is understandable, but I stood by the display case looking at Magic cards for quite a while without any acknowledgment or indication I'd be helped. During that time, another customer who seemed like a regular came in and was immediately helped, while I continued waiting. A second employee later came out from the back, walked past me without saying anything, and started working without checking if I needed help. After about 15-16 minutes, I finally asked about a single card I was looking for and got a dismissive response. Overall, the experience felt unwelcoming and not very inviting compared to other TCG shops I've visited.

We came in with my son in search of MTG cards and had fun browsing their selection. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were on par with other gaming stores in the area. Store and play areas were clean with some interesting custom decor items. They're located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking. Would be a great place to host your own card gaming sessions or join an established local specialty card gaming community!

After finishing up, we went back to quickly check it out. We went through the front door and then followed a sign that lead to another door with a set of stairs leading to the bottom of the building. On our way down we saw banners on the wall, a bulletin board at the bottom, and a choice to go left or right. We veered to the right and found gaming tables and shelves and tables filled with games to buy. They had three 3D printers running and other gaming tables located on the other side of the store and game figures/models and paints as well as a restroom, shelf full of snacks, and cashier counter were their trading cards were for purchase. I ended up buying a game I saw on TikTok and had checked the price on Amazon to see if it would be cheaper, but it was actually the same price in store as online. Nick helped ring me up and informed me that they had game board nights on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm where people bring their own games and have had about 20 people show up for their last one. They are thinking of expanding to have more game nights take place on Sunday and have been open for 7 months now. Excited to come back and hopefully to snag some Pokémon cards when they are in stock.

I paid the shop to rent the machine and waited for 2 hours. Then the staff told me "We made a mistake setting this up. We can't give you the scanned info, but leave your cards behind and your email address, and we can send them over. You'll just need to scan this thing we send you." I was uncomfortable leaving my cards behind because they're important to me. But I didn't want to walk away empty-handed. So I decided to trust them and I left my cards behind. I didn't hear anything for 4 days. I had to call them and they said "Oh the employee you were talking to got sick. If you want to pick up your cards you can do that though." I asked "How about scanning my cards?" and they said "We'll message the sick employee and call you back to let you know what he says". I waited 3 more days and they didn't contact me at all. I realized they weren't going to reach out to me to resolve the issue, so I had to drive down to the store to demand my cards back. I don't know who the person running the back of the shop is. Maybe the manager. Maybe the owner. All I knew is that they had context on the whole situation and knew that I had returned to get my cards. They didn't bother to come over to talk to me. They didn't even give me eye contact. They didn't make even a single attempt at improving the situation. Not even an offer for store credit. Not even a sorry. They just shrugged and yelled across the room "machine's broken". Then they went back to puttering around and left another employee to deal with me. This other employee had no context on the situation. All she could do was hand me a cash refund and give me a confused "Sorry...?" I was treated like I was an annoyance. Someone who'd go away eventually if you ignored them. Not a respected customer who just wanted to do business. I'm not mad that the machine was allegedly broken. I'm only slightly mad that the employees aren't trained on how to use the machine. I'm frustrated that I paid for a service and they didn't bother seeing the job through to the end. They didn't communicate when they decided to give up. I trusted them with my personal card collection and they betrayed that trust. I don't even know if I have all my cards back, but I'll never know.
