I am tired of going out of our way to drive here to try it out only for it to never be open (when social media posts states they are open) and there not being a phone number assigned to the business. Definitely our last attempt!!! It would be helpful and appreciated if you used social media as a form of communication. This is the third time we've drive more than two hours to visit your diner for us to find out it's closed. You posted tryout hours of business which includes being open today. If you are not open, that's a perfect time to make a post. It would also be helpful if you had a phone number that was in use. Today I tried to call three times to confirm if you were open and it says this number is not assigned. Not a great business practice or experience for potential customers.

There were four others tables taken by what seemed like locals so not overly busy for the size of the place. I found our server was quite slow, most of us just ordered water for drinks. She told us what the specials were for that day but did not mention any prices. The bacon cheeseburger macaroni soup sounded really good as the smoky burger. When she came back to take our orders, each order was written separately. A lot of us wanted the soup as the side order. Two friends ordered the smoky burger special but she was not clear that it came with two sides. After placing our orders she comes back to say they ran out of soup! All of us were disappointed but perhaps they didn't make enough as they weren't expecting a group of 12? The root beer float came with ice cubes which was odd, for a diner my friend was not impressed. My crispy chicken burger for $13.95 was just a frozen chicken patty with lettuce, tomato and mayo. I chose a salad with French dressing and the lettuce was very fresh like it was just cut from the head five minutes before! The 50/50 burger was not greasy but didn't have much bacon taste, they could probably improve on that one. Another two friends had the chicken cordon bleu which they said was quite good except the mashed potatoes was a bit dry and may not be real potatoes. We paid our bills individually at the till and my friend discovered the smoky burger special was $19.95! Definitely not worth it but it was very tasty. Overall okay but not sure if I would go to this place again next time I'm in town.

The diner is in a commercial area and caters to the lunch trade. One of us had the standard sausage, eggs (3), home fries, toast, and coffee. The other had the farmers 3 egg omelette (with home fries & bacon in it), toast and coffee. The food and service were great, with large portions. The coffee was good. More people came in as lunchtime approached. We did chat with the owner a bit - who previously cooked at a well-known local German restaurant (now sadly closed). It shows - since schnitzel and goulash are also on the menu! Note: The restaurant only accepts cash or debit cards - no credit cards.  We highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast or lunch. 5 stars all round.

We were all thumbs up on the coffee, and all of us LOVED the ambiance. It's so fun looking at all the stuff on the walls. I'd love to come back for lunch if I'm back in town again but this visit was for brekkie. I was a bit nervous when the eggs bennie came and the hollandaise was technicolor orange because that is the only thing my friend ever orders for breakfast and is a connoisseur. However, they seemed totally satisfied with them so my fears were unfounded. The food is simple = but good. I don't know what they put in the pancakes but they were MAGICAL. I could not stop raving about them. If it was a mix they must have been laughing at me in the back :D Some of the best pancakes I have ever had. The waitress was EXACTLY what I hope for at a diner. Albert's it's a small chain based out of Edmonton, and this is their Red Deer spot. It's in an older strip mall with a bunch of other local-ish businesses - a pub (Murph's, which is connected to Albert's), a hair salon, liquor store, used book store, bowling alley, and Co-op, to name a few. It's an older restaurant that could use some renovations, and it's a bit dark and dingy, although it's just a part of the place's character. The staff that works here are like fixtures. I think I've seen or been waited on by the same server every time I've been in here. They know all of the regular customers by name (and a few by what they order), and they all have their own little quirks. You're probably going to be called honey, sweety, or darling at least once during your meal, so you should be okay with these little informalities, sugar. I like a place that makes a point of keeping your coffee filled up, and this one does it well. You're unlikely to run dry on coffee until you tell them you don't need any more - and if you do run out, you'll get a refill as soon as you see the next waitress walk by. The food here isn't anything exceptional, but it's your typical breakfast/diner food, so it's comfortable and familiar. I recommend grabbing the potato pancakes as a side if you're getting breakfast food- they're as close as you're going to get to homemade latkes, without the wait for the festive season. The food is also usually really quick to come out, and if there are any problems with your meal, they'll make it right as soon as they can. I had some eggs in an omelette come out a bit softer than I'd like, and I had fresh ones in front of me in less than 5 minutes, and the waitress knocked a few bucks off of the bill without my asking. Even if she hadn't, the prices here are low enough that you don't mind an imperfect meal. Overall, this place is becoming a go-to because of the staff and the service. I make sure to tip well every time, because these are the type of people that make you smile and start your day off right. 3 stars for the food, but 2 more stars because I leave there every time talking about how great the staff is.
