Charity event

The winery is a very beautiful setting for a stroll, photos, or casual event. They consistently partner with other vintners to cultivate a beautiful community of people. Everyone coordinating the event moved in harmony with one another. They checked on us often without interruption and were very courteous. I am so appreciative of the hospitality we were shown. Overall, the winery also takes walk ins. This is a great choice for the area.

Five stars! Very nice tasting and the gentleman made our experience very special. We came in right off the street and were immediately helped.

Came here with a group of girls for a bachelorette party and we had the best time! The personalized menus with the bride to be's name on it was a special surprise as we sat down in the gorgeous tasting room. Every wine we tried was spectacular. John, our sommelier was the best!! I will definitely be back again soon!

Ridiculously small tasting pours. Not enough to swish or taste, about 0.5 ounce.

I have been a wine club member at Odette since they very first opened their doors in 2012. You can see from my previous reviews my track record visiting this winery. Needless to say, I am a massive fan of their wine. Since 2021, I've noticed a serious decline in service in the tasting room. Three of my previous four visits over as many years have been dreadful, and today's was the worst of them all. We actually walked out halfway through the tasting because of the atrocious service we received. I had an appointment at 3 pm, and we arrived around 2:50 pm. My party (just two of us) was promptly and warmly greeted and shown to our outside terrace table. It was warm outside, but our seats were thankfully shaded. Things only went downhill from there. The tasting room was not crowded, with only two other tables there. The back room was packed with a private event that was closed to other visitors. We found the wine servers to be inattentive and downright neglectful. After an initial greeting, we were left sitting with glasses empty for over 15 minutes. Finally a young woman came over to pour us water, which was appreciated since the temperatures outdoors were topping 93 degrees. Ten more minutes passed and we were finally poured the chardonnay to taste. It continued to get worse, service-wise. Odette is known for their big, bold reds, yet we were not poured any of the red wines to taste until nearly 40 minutes after our arrival time. FORTY MINUTES. Our wine server was very friendly, personable and knowledgeable, but he was super stingy with the tasting pours. I understand this is a tasting and not a bar, but I would estimate we were given a half an ounce of wine, maximum. This was not nearly enough for a proper taste - seriously not even two sips of wine. It was ridiculous (see my photos and video). I can't say if I liked the wine or not because there wasn't even enough in my glass to properly evaluate the wine. I've started to wonder if maybe the employees aren't allowed to open an additional bottle when it's close to closing time, because they were SO stingy. They were rationing wine, or at least it felt as if they were. After being ignored for over an hour, we left our 3 pm tasting appointment, to which we arrived at 2:50 pm, at 4:14 pm. To add insult to injury, NOBODY from the tasting room called to ask why we left or showed any concern whatsoever that we didn't stay to complete our tasting. I'm a published freelance wine writer, so I am professionally trained and know how to taste wine. This visit was so poor that I feel like I can't review the wine because there wasn't enough to swish or spit (we also weren't provided with a dump bucket on the table, which is really unacceptable at any serious winery). I left Odette disasppointed yet again, and angry that they wasted my time. I'm so upset and let down by today's visit that I will be in no hurry to return, if ever. I really hope the tasting room manager and staff will get their act together, because this is a recurring problem that still hasn't gotten any better. In the meantime, I cannot and will not recommend Odette to anyone headed to the Napa Valley. There are far better places (wineries who actually VALUE and APPRECIATE visitors) that are more deserving of your time and money.

As you're in Napa wine country, it can be a little intimidating to find wineries for tastings as they are so many! Odette Estate is located in the Stag's Leap District of Napa Valley and is beautiful, and located just off the Silverado Trail. I highly recommend making tasting reservations in advance as the tasting room is quite small. The tasting fee is $85/person and tasting fees are not waived with the purchase of wine. We walked in at our appointment time and were warmly greeted by a host and were promptly seated at a table next to the windows overlooking the beautiful scenery and the vines. We also had a tasting menu, and it was even personalized with my last name on it, and that was a surprisingly nice gesture! The two hosts came through and gave us a nice education about their winery and the area and guided us through a flight of 4 or 5 wines and offered second tastings on any wines we wanted to explore again. We really felt at home and welcome, and we truly enjoyed the experience. We left and purchased a bottle of the Petite Sirah wine and was a highlight of the wineries we visited during our stay in Napa!

1:15 after arrival and still no Odette Estate.

It pains me to write this review, but I'm so upset with my experience (for the third time in the last four visits) that I'm doing it. I have been a member of the club at Odette for more than a decade, and for a good reason: I've always loved this wine. But this tasting experience was so bad (again) that I have to say something about it -- and it was the last straw that caused me to drop out of the wine club. We had a tasting appointment at 3 pm. We arrived at 2:50, and were greeted promptly. Soon after, we received a taste of the most recent release of Odette Chardonnay. Great wine, as it's always been. Soon after, we were poured a taste of the recent release of Plumpjack Chardonnay, so we were able to compare the two. So far, so good! And then... When it came time for the main event -- the reds -- we waited. And waited. And waited. We waited a solid 45 minutes before getting the first splash of a red wine. I was so annoyed at that point that I took a picture of my watch in front of my empty wine glasses (attached). Finally! 45 minutes later, I had some wine. Or did I? The pour was miniscule! See the attached picture. WHERE'S THE WINE, ODETTE? It's not that I expect a huge pour; I've been coming to Napa and tasting wine for 20+ years. I know how it works and what a proper tasting portion is and what isn't. This wasn't! Not even close. I expect at least enough wine to be able to sip it 3 times and to be able to compare and contrast to the other wines poured. It was nowhere NEAR enough to do any of that. And I wasn't being singled out: looking at the other people seated for tastings, they all were getting about the same amount of wine as me. I mean, seriously. WTF? Then came the final straw. I was SO looking forward to trying the 2021 Odette Estate. As I said at the beginning of this review, I've been a club member for years because I love this wine! I couldn't wait to try the 2021, because I hadn't been able to yet. But I never got to. My third glass, the one that was meant for the 2021 OE, remained empty. See the third picture. That was me, 1 hour and 15 minutes after arriving. We waited ANOTHER five minutes for our host to come with the Odette wine and he didn't. At that point we just gave up and left. To her credit, Becky (wine club manager) noticed my wife's review of this same experience and did something about it, which I appreciate. But it wasn't enough to change my feelings. Like I said, this was the third time out of the last four visits that I left a tasting at Odette upset. I don't come to Napa to be upset; I come to Napa to relax and enjoy myself. Even if the 2021 Odette Estate is as excellent as the other vintages have been (I wouldn't know!), it's just not worth it for the aggravation and frustration. There are wineries that will treat you better, folks. Don't waste your time at one that ignores you.

Potato chip pairings :)

We absolutely loved our tasting at Odette! We did the potato chip pairing and it was a fun and unique experience. The chips were delicious and perfectly paired with the wines. Our group of 4 all loved the wine and we got to taste many that were not on the menu as well. However, what really made the experience memorable was our fantastic host Tom. He was beloved by our entire group and we appreciated his knowledge, friendliness, charisma and kindness. Overall a wonderful experience in all aspects.

Educator Tom Solberg , had great energy and took very good care of my clients today ! Very professional ... especially on a Monday ! Ha !

As a Napa Valley Chauffeur, I am always on the lookout for people in our industry that have passion and a commitment to professionalism and an overall memorable experience ! Tom Solberg delivered today ! He had great energy right off the bat and was a pleasure to talk to ! Provided exceptional service for my clients that are well-versed in Napa Valley experiences ! Well done Tom. Keep up the great work. People are watching. !

Stopped in for a wine tasting that came with 5 wines, charcuterie board, and chocolate pairing. It started off with the Chardonnay, personally was too buttery for me and not my style. I appreciated the year by year comparison of some of the wines. Our server was friendly and gave us space to taste on our own. The view was great from the inside on a rainy day. She was great and let us try a splash of something else which was great for me, since I love a Syrah.

Fantastic room. Very understated from Silverado Trail but amazing inside. The room still had its holiday decorations so that was fun to see as well. Seraf was our host and he was amazing. Very informative about everything we tasted and such a humble host. The flight featured their Adaption line and others. Will be interesting to try the other tasting rooms from Cade and Plumpjack. Highly recommend this room and their wines. Also to note, the stemware is amazing!!! Proper glasses for whites and reds. This place is legit.

We had such a great time at Odette for our tasting. The wine was lovely but our host was what made the experience great!

Quality/Quantity - I had a hard time with the website making my appointment, it's a user issue as I am just not tech savvy. So I called and someone actually answered the phone and made my appointment for me, THANK you! We arrived 15 mins early, so we hung out in the lobby reading all the history, etc. Then Skip took us to the best view overlooking the vineyard for our tasting; see pictures! We sampled almost ALL the reds! All of which were good. See pictures. I like the fact that we did side by side tastings of many of his wines. My favorites were the 2022 Primitivo and 2021 Malbec, which we bought a few bottles of. Ambiance - Secluded private winery. Close to main Downtown Napa, but far enough away for privacy and a feeling of being far away. Appointment only, so very private and customer focused. Typically no more than 3 parties at a time. Today was considered a very busy day as there were 4 parties including us, lol. Gated private estate. 200 acres. Plenty of parking, especially since hosting only 3 guests at a time. Events - See their website. Well behaved dogs are allowed outdoors. Service - Skip is a history buff and we both talked for hours... After leaving, well really the next day (LOL), I realized that our tasting was supposed to be only 60 minutes. I guess because we got along so well, we stayed until closing! And he gave me a glass with a generous splash and let us walk the property alone after they left! So welcoming and trusting. Price - Depends on which tasting and what you buy; see their website for prices. Tastings range from $50 to $100 per person. One free designated driver allowed. Tasting fees waived with wine equivalent purchases. Hike tours $75 per person ($60 for club members). See their website for more information. Owner Comment - Congrats on your family's success since 1939 and congrats to this winery's success since 1992.

My daughter Chandra, her friend Chrissie, and I were celebrating an all-girls early birthday weekend (for both Chandra and me), and we couldn't have picked a better final stop. Clos du Val absolutely did not disappoint! Every wine was outstanding--from the crisp, refreshing Estate Sauvignon Blanc (the perfect summer pool wine!) to the delicious Malbec and elegant Yettalil. And of course, I couldn't resist taking home a magnum of the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon--simply exceptional. Not surprisingly, we left with a full case of wine and the happiest memories. A perfect ending to a beautiful Napa weekend--highly recommend!

We did the classic tasting, starting with a white and going into 3 (or 4) more reds. While the white was ok, the reds really did stand out, especially the Pinot Noir and the last one on the tasting ($200 a bottle). The reds really are the star there and we got a generous pour of each. The dip that came with our tasting was a nice labneh like dip with fresh bread and persimmon. Property is smaller but gorgeous outside and in (sleek but not too cold and bland) and the restrooms were nice as well. Would love to come back in the warmer months to enjoy the patio. Great stop in and thank you Sarah for an awesome time!
