I have eaten here twice in the past year, traveling for work. Thoroughly enjoyed this place both times. The ambiance is great, unexpected for an "up north" town. Wine list and craft cocktails are terrific. All food items have been delicious and it seems like they change the menu seasonally. Oddfellows is the perfect addition to iron mountain. The brick and ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for wedding photos. It would be a wonderful place for a wedding. The food is absolutely delicious. The white dish is caught fresh from Lake Superior and is my favorite thing they offer. With the menu constantly changing, I always get excited to come home and try something new. The service is wonderful, the staff are friendly, and they always keep you hydrated (with wine and water!) Went to Oddfellows last evening. Enjoyed a perfectly lovely wine flight. Talked with the owner, who was very involved in his business but still took the time to chat for a few minutes. The food exceeded my expectation (this was my first time visiting). The Pear Puff was to die for (appetizer). Main course was out of this world good (Nashville Hot Chicken Sammy). Even though we were stuffed, the carrot cake crumble was calling my name. it did not disappoint...better than ANY carrot cake I'd ever had...sooooooo good. Service was wonderful and ambience was great. I am giving this restaurant 5 stars (would do 10 if Yelp let me). Owner told me the fresh flowers on the tables were cut fresh daily from Danielson's Greenhouse in Norway. They were a wonderful touch (I'm a flower lover). Food is creative, in season , homemade and very good! No iceberg lettuce here friends. It is a limited menu so it changes. My favs have been Spices Carrots, Brussel sprouts, Carrot cake crumble, sausage&mushroom flatbread, whitefish corn soup, and flatiron steak. Thirsty? They know how to make a cocktail! Ambiance is trendy-you are transported to something in the metropolis but you are in the Northwoods. Service looks and is professional. Fun! read more

Food, service and ambiance. Amazing. Could eat the duck drums all day long. The burrata and Brussels sprouts were very tasty. Also got the sausage soup which hit the spot. Got the fillet and GIANT chicken sandwich for entrees. And finished up with the carrot and lemon olive oil cakes for late night to go deserts. Tried all the cocktails. Can't wait to come back. The drink menu and and drink pricing is fair and extensive, 5/5. The ambiance is beautiful and warm, but without a band in the space it feels almost too open and spread out--like they don't have enough tables, 4/5. The food is where I believe improvements can be made. A table of four with one round of drinks for $223 (includes 18% tip) should leave me ranting about the food. The portions are small and while our server encouraged sharing, I would suggest ordering an entree for yourself and sharing the appetizers and a salad. The $25+ charcuterie board with about an ounce of pork products should include a list of where the pork came from and what makes it to special (the server couldn't tell me what the meats were beyond their name and the menu didn't describe what was included in it). Don't expect it to do much to curb your appetite--the pickled radishes were delicious though. The focaccia appetizer was also good. The highlight of the night was the kale caesar salad for me. It was bright and had just enough anchovy to balance out the bitterness of the kale. It was also enough to share with 4. During my visit there were just 3 entrees. Two pasta dishes and bison short ribs. The rigatoni pasta dish was very tasty but small (think cereal bowl) for a $25 price tag and the bison and fennel was good but also small for the server to suggest it to be shared with 4 people. Overall, I think this Overall, I think this place needs a fancy burger or lower priced menu item for those who are picky or don't want to shell out $30+ for an entree that doesn't include anything else. (Or give some house-made bread with some good whipped butter!) If they want to get away with charging these prices then I expect a Michelin rating or an experienced and awarded chef or a detailed explanation why the food I'm paying for is worth the price tag. 4.5/ 5 on food quality 2.5/5 on food value. read more

First let me start by saying I have dined all over the world, so I feel I have enough experience to provide a review. Let's start with the ambience, which is excellent. Ambient noise was just right and the chatter of diners was most of the background. The kitchen, which is visible was perfectly maintained and the whole staff had a very peaceful vibe going. The service was fast and efficient and the wait staff were extremely knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations. On to the food, which was delicious. We had tried a bit of everything and loved it all! The wine was a perfect pair! To add on to this the owner was amazing as well! She stopped by to check on us and it was lovely to meet her! People of Iron Mountain: GO EAT HERE. The two one star reviews are just total lies. I've been coming to Iron Mountain three times a year for holidays for 30 years and this is the best dining experience I've had, and one of the best meals I've had in all of my world travels. It is the most thoughtful and flavorful food in the U.P. and meets the standards of amazing dining by any big city standard. It was an incredible treat and our whole family loved it. I can't rave about it enough. Literally every dish we ordered was a show stopper. It's worth driving some distance. On my way from Tokyo (30 million population) where I live and work as the President of Fender Music - APAC, to my home in Eagle River, Michigan (38 people), I made my way to what I'm sure will be a bright star among more and more unique and interesting restaurants in the UP of Michigan as tourism soars in the region. I found it to be wonderful. The olives (warm) as an appetizer got my palate ready for a flight of wines and the food to follow. Best olives I've ever had. From there I went with the Kale Caesar - which was crips, clean and all that a salad should be with a precise balance of dressing and anchovy to merely compliment the ultra fresh kale. We had an incredible pasta - perfectly cooked and sauced. Main course was the steak and the bison ribs. Both were incredibly tasty and in rarified air considering what you get at 97% of restaurants in the UP. Deserts were lovely too. Coming from Tokyo, I respect that the individual servings here were not meant to feed and fatten a family of five but instead to give a diner a culinary experience that's thoughtful , well prepared, satisfying and and absolutely delightful and unique dining experience. Our server Eva was caring and really did her best to give us an outstanding dining experience. I thought the prices were incredibly reasonable and offered exceptional quality for the price paid. Love the building, decor, and service was excellent. The first two reviews are clearly made up reviews from competitors and should be disregarded. The beer and wine list are unique and rare for the area. Had the focaccia, fingerling potatoes and the bison. Food quality was superb. Ingredients were fresh and unique. For example- I've never had sliced clementine or fresh mustard seed on a dish. And I think this is where the price comes in. Quality and taste 5/5, best meal I've had in a while. Having traveled all over the USA and eaten at Michelin Star, James Beard Award restaurants, Gordon Ramsey's New York City restaurant, Wolfgang Puck's Spago in Las Vegas, iron chef eatery's all over the country...... I know quality food and ambiance. For Iron Mountain to have a place with such class in the decor, courteous staff fro the door to the kitchen, an educated sommelier and mixologist and then excellent menu items--- incredible! I never liked whitefish until I had the chowder. Always loved shrimp and grits when I toured the southern USA... and this is perfection in Yooperland. The Burger and Beer night is just wonderful for those who need a tasty brew from outside this area. Their appetizers are perfect for relaxing with a beverage while waiting for a custom created entree. The occassional musician playing by the bar is terrrific. If anyone has given 1 or 2 stars..... ignore them. You must try this place and make it a regular night on the town. read more

For the area this is a 5 star restaurant!! Had dinner here last week before Memorial Day weekend. We had the Olives and Burrata as an appetizer, both were fresh (I'm pretty sure the Burrata was made in house), served well and tasted fantastic. Only issue the toast points were a little hard, not sure if they were over toasted or had sat for a time post toasting but the flavor was good. For entrees we had the Lamb Ribs, served with Polenta and the Whitefish which was served with a slaw. Food was all very tasty and properly seasoned; the lamb ribs were nicely charred, fatty, and fell off the bone. The one criticism is the lamb was served on a small plate where the polenta was on the bottom and the lamb completely covered it, there was no additional room on the plate. I had to ask for another plate for the bones and then had to use that plate to move the lamb aside so I could get to the polenta. Chef - white space on a plate doesn't just look nice it serves a function. The servers were very attentive and on par with service I would expect in any nice restaurant in Milwaukee or Chicago; and frankly the best service we had the entire week in the area. read more
