Also happy they extended their hours to fulfill dessert cravings. Food: This location offers unique gelato options that you can sample and my favorite seasonal series includes the pistachio matcha that has genuine nutty flavor despite being a bit grainy, complements the matcha very well and is my go-to order when I see it on the menu since it's hard to find elsewhere. Double jasmine milk tea with jasmine "silk boba" (more of a jelly) has great tea flavor as well and 50% default perfect sugar is good, though jelly doesn't have a distinct jasmine flavor in my opinion. When it's cold out, also love getting the hot version of the jasmine milk tea. Miss the coconut sugar boba option that was more unique but got replaced with brown sugar boba which is sweeter. The Sawtelle location had an Iron Buddha Wintermelon that was a good balance of sweetness with tea flavor that the Santa Monica one doesn't have unfortunately. This was a pretty mediocre boba place. Located in the middle of the 3rd Street Promenade, it's got a great location, but a fairly limited menu (they didn't even have Thai Tea, which tends to be a staple.) To be fair, they do offer some matcha varieties I haven't seen elsewhere. You can order via touchpad or speak with an employee. I spoke with an employee because I wanted extra-sweet boba tea. The guy I spoke to seemed a little confused, but I got my boba tea in about 5 minutes. It tasted like Lipton tea. And it wasn't even very sweet. They have a bunch of seating here but you can really find seats anywhere throughout the Promenade. Great people watching! I had the Yuzu Apple Shiso on my latest trip and it was so refreshing. Very light, like an apple tinted water with a few apple slices for decor and extra flavoring. Surprisingly, it gets busy with a steady flow of traffic. This is actually a chain so I figured it is a must try especially if you like tea. I'm a regular there and go there around once a week. Their drink are pretty good, but if they forget something you're out of luck. Ordered a pistachio matcha with boba, and when I got to my next destination I found out that they forgot the boba. For me the boba made the drink m because I order it less to no added sugar and add the boba to sweeten it to my liking. Went there during the week to see if there where going to make thing right and at first he just offer me a side of boba. Should have ask If can get that with a cup of water. Then the employe only said if I order a drink he can add a side of boba no charge. Um I paid for it. Their customer service when they make a mistake is horrible. The product is great, but it's definitely a big treat. This is also the most I've ever spent on a boba drink (over $8!). The tea strength is just right (if not perfect). The balance between tea and milk is perfect. One thing to look out for is that two of their toppings are called "boba" but are more like jellies than actual pearls (jasmine "boba" and wintermelon "boba"). Some teas are under non-standard names (e.g. icy peak, iron buddha, etc.), so I would ask for details on taste if you're particular about it. The biggest turn down is really the price. Love Odd One Out! I really think they're the best boba option in West LA. My favorite is their Champion Milk Tea. I've tried the Golden Buddha, Yuzu Osmanthus, Blue Matcha, and Watermelon Jade. They now have two locations - Santa Monica and Sawtelle. In terms of quality, the Sawtelle location is better but wait times are also longer. Giving this location a 2 because I know the product is good based on their Sawtelle location, but the drink I got here was not good and that's being very generous. I got my usual jasmine milk green tea with the jasmine silk boba and oh gosh the milk tea was so watery and you could barely taste the tea - the tea was clearly not brewed long enough. I'm not one to complain and ask for a new drink or food but considering the price of drinks here, I could not accept the very low quality. The second drink they made me was still pretty watery, but did have a stronger tea taste than the first drink. I will stick to going to their Sawtelle location and recommend others doing the same. This location has gelato that looked good though! Although it's $6.50 for a single scoop and $7.50 for a double scoop and the portion sizes are very small. read more

You know you come here too often when the workers recognize you walking over from a distance, grab your takeout order from the back, and hand it over to you as soon as you approach the counter. That's efficiency! Odd One Out is one of my favorite boba shops in Sawtelle, so I was thrilled when they set up shop in the neighborhood, especially since Santa Monica doesn't have many boba options. The offerings are basically the same except as their Sawtelle location except this location has their own homemade gelato and sorbet! The yuzu osthmanthus is my go-to here since it's such a bright, floral, and refreshing flavor. Another go-to is the blue matcha, which is a matcha latte with spirulina for a healthy boost. The jasmine silk boba kind of reminds me of lychee jelly or rainbow jelly because of it's light yet chewy texture, which I enjoy a lot. If you're craving the typical black boba though, it's called coconut sugar boba on the menu. Aside from those favorites, I've tried almost everything on the menu, and they've all tasted great, especially due to their prominent tea flavors, unique mixed drinks, and light sweetness levels that complement but don't overpower the drink's primary flavors. I usually get 25-50% sweetness at other boba shops that tend to be overly sweet, but their standard sweetness level here is perfect! I usually order online to-go, but this location also has outside tables to sit and hang out. I love that they're on the promenade now, and I'll definitely be back! read more
