Solid boba shop in Sawtelle. Slightly above some standard chains. I ordered the Salty Thai Bliss and it was enjoyable. I prefer creamier drinks so this was right up my alley. The Thai tea flavor was good and I liked the milky flavor of the cream. Mixed together it was tasty. The boba pearls were also a great consistency, soft but not too soft. They weren't too sweetened, but that's okay since the drink itself was already sweet. I also liked how there wasn't too much ice in it. Just the perfect amount to avoid the drink becoming too watery. This was on the pricier side, but the large size made up for it. Overall, I was surprised that this was pretty good. The store is just a small room with no chairs or tables. You order on a tablet and the bobarista will call your order out. They also have food options. The service was interesting, I couldn't tell if the bobarista was being rude to me or that's how she genuinely is. She asked the entire room what's your order and didn't lookup so I was confused. I asked her if she was asking me and she replied 'yeah' in a way that wasn't friendly, so I was taken aback. Overall, an okay experience here. I enjoyed ordering the mega because it also means that I have a drink for the next day. Since I didn't get boba, I didn't have to risk it getting hard in the fridge. The 25% sweet option was good, but still a tad too sweet or me. Next time I return, I may get no sugar. I stopped by Noble Tea on Sawtelle and tried the lychee black tea with lychee bits. It was super refreshing, especially for the summer--light, fruity, and not overly sweet. I'd definitely come back just for that drink. That said, I've tried a few of their milk teas in the past, and I have to say, they're a bit mid. I have pretty high standards for milk tea, and especially when it comes to matcha, this one doesn't deliver. The matcha tastes like the cheaper powder kind--not very smooth, a bit chalky, and not really worth the price. As for the location, there are no tables inside. There are a few outdoor tables, but since it's Sawtelle, it's usually packed and they're shared with nearby restaurants. So even if you do find a spot, it's not exactly the most comfortable or relaxing place to sit and hang out. Also, parking is pretty bad in the area, so be prepared to circle around or park a bit far and walk. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars. I'll come back for the lychee tea, but not much else. read more

After ordering through the app the order didn't go through so the host had to personally retake our order from the receipt we got on the app which was pretty much a waste of time. I'm surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating but maybe I just got lucky... first time here and there was a special seasonal flavor with persimmon - each cup is advertised as having "2.5 whole persimmons" which, after I got it, does seem legit. It's a HUGE cup. It's also DELICIOUS. I'm Taiwanese myself and I've never had a persimmon drink like this - I like persimmons so I figured why not try it. One of the three seasonal flavors was sold out, but I got the one with coconut milk and jasmine tea and it was such a refreshing specialty drink. Yes $8 is kind of steep for a drink but most people I know are paying upwards of $7 per generic Starbucks so IMO it's worth it as a nice treat. Where else are you going to find persimmon jasmine tea with coconut milk and water chestnut popping boba? Speaking of which, I've actually never had the water chestnut popping boba before. Usually I'm a traditionalist with boba and I don't like popping boba much but I couldn't resist trying it out. It basically has a clear covering and when it pops there's syrupy juice inside and a crunch piece of water chestnut. Very unique. I like water chestnut but have never had it in a drink before, so I had my doubts, but it really paired pretty well with the drink! It's just the right sweetness and coolness in the starting to get warm Cali weather in April. Self service console so it be a little annoying to scroll through especially for the senior crowd. The server really call out your drinks so have to watch carefully on your order what you get. I almost got someone else's drink but I was patient to wait these days. Go get one of these.
