This is by far the best doctor's office I've ever been to. Best experience ever, like an early Apple Store, when there were enough Geniuses around to help and the place was not busy at all. Easy online scheduling system and my request was confirmed quickly. I also received a follow up reminder via email which was appreciated. All patient information could be filled out online prior to the appointment, keeping it simple. They were ready for me when I arrived and the costs were explained which were very reasonable. The office is clean and well kept. They have new equipment which the front office staff was well trained on explaining all steps in the process. The doctor came to see me very quickly. He's friendly and wants to build relationships with his clientele making it a positive customer experience. He is knowledgeable and is able to answer questions in a way which I understand. The biggest thing for me was that he listened and found a resolution. For the first time in four years my optometrist was able to prescribe comfortable contacts for my eyes. In the past I've been told "well they just do that" or "it's probably not the right prescription". He didn't make excuses he listened and through it I have comfortable contact lenses as I write this. I was looking for a new eye doctor/ optical shop as I wasn't happy with the one that I had been seeing in Tukwilla. I lived in the neighborhood and I passed this place everyday on my commute. Last August I saw Dr. Jeff Woerner for a medical eye appointment. For the last two years I have been having trouble with watery eyes. Very annoying and troublesome. The former eye doctor in Tukwilla said it was environmental and that there was nothing wrong with my eyes. They sent me to a specialist who also found nothing wrong, and again, said that it was environmental. Dr. Woerner found the cause of the watering, explained it, gave me some interim things to help until I was able to see the specialist that he recommended. The specialist was awesome and she has helped tremendously. Environmental my a**!! Also, yesterday they had a trunk show (they have special events) and were very helpful in picking out just the right frames for me. Cody was the one that assisted me and he is very patient, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I am very pleased that I have chosen them to care for my eyes. read more

Dr. Noriko Ho has fit me for both contact lenses and glasses on separate occasions, and done a fantastic job. I am incredibly picky with my vision, and probably tried out six pairs of contacts. Dr. Ho was patient and helpful throughout the process, and I finally have contacts I can wear for a whole day comfortably. When it comes to glasses, not only is my prescription from Dr. Ho spot on, but the frame selection and opticians are excellent. I finally own a pair of glasses that I want to wear, because damn they look good. The optician personally looked through and tried out two dozen different options with me until we found exactly the right match. If you've previously been unhappy with your optometrist, I seriously recommend you come here, you'll be satisfied. read more

Short version: This is a great business. I highly recommend coming here if you're looking for a new optometrist. The first time I came in here for an eye exam after a while away from my old doctor out of state. I was able to make an appointment for the next day, which in Seattle seems unheard of. Dr. Woerner was punctual, professional, and personable (pardon the alliteration). We chatted about what contacts I had been wearing, and he suggested a new brand, which are way more comfortable. As a bonus, they had a deal on an annual supply. The next time I came in here was to get a pair of glasses adjusted, which I hadn't purchased through Oculus (while their selection is fantastic, i couldn't find anything that jumped out at me). I sheepishly went in to ask if they could help out, and with no grief or hesitation, they worked their magic. A minute later I walked out with a much better fitting pair of extra eyes. After my original first visit to this practice (eye exam/contact lens fitting) I eventually came back for new glasses. It has been a decade since I got new hardware so I wasn't sure what to look for or how to start. My old glasses were frameless. The staff immediately approached me and after learning my desired price range recommended a pair of frames I ultimately ended up getting. No regrets! They compliment my face and are super light despite the fact that I have thick lenses. These glasses were ready in a couple of days and required no adjustments. I went in for my annual exam last year and to get a contact lens prescription. This place is great! Good location (right on Denny near Amazon campus), the office is really nice, and the people are extremely friendly and informative. My exam went great. The doctor (I can't recall her name) was extremely knowledgeable and was easy to talk to while getting my exam done. Even though my eyesight went down a bit, it wasn't that noticeable for me. They weren't pushy about it all. They gave me my prescription, sample contacts and I was on my way. A few weeks later, I came back in and purchased the contacts there. They were reasonably priced and quick. I just got an email from them reminding me to get another exam, so I'll definitely be heading back. read more

BEWARE! If you are visiting oculus eyecare on Denny Way make sure the services they are providing you are covered by your insurance. Today I went there for my yearly checkup and I wanted my lenses renewed. The person who checked my eye through the machine mentioned if I wanted to an extra exam that charged 29 dollars extra but covers 80% of the retina to which I agreed. But after that, the eye doctor at the center saw me and she did a contact lens evaluation which costed 60 dollars without asking me about it and I was just asked to pay 89 dollars at the end of a supposedly insurance covered eye exam. This seemed weird to me and I asked for a bill and then I was handed a sheet a paper which mentioned that that the Contact Lens evaluation was charged to me and was not covered under insurance.!!!! These people are trying to TRICK you! read more

Bomb proof. That's what Dr. Woerner called the Moscots I brought him from Hitchcock Madrona three years ago. I wear some of the sturdier and more iconic of Moscot's frames, the Lemtosh, worn in tortoise by Woody Allen, in black by Truman Capote, Johnny Depp, Malcolm X and Tim Burton. The report two years later (whoops): correcting my astigmatism makes me happier than strapping magnifying glasses to my face. I have done terrible things to those bomb proof Moscots and not even bent them. Oculus now carries Moscots! So, yeah, I am the Moscot typhoid Mary. You're welcome! I cannot praise the optical lab at Oculus enough. When you send glasses off the a lab tech who has not interacted with you, they don't have much idea where your eye is hitting within the lens. When you have astigmatism as I do, this is the difference between your vision being corrected or just blurried. Also, having an onsite lab makes things like recoatings and regrindings really easy to do as you wait, rather than some to weigh the time you'll spend without your specs. We're going to go back in the next weeks for our third round of specs. I have only good things to say about Oculus - and now Moscot! read more

I'd been having some eye strain and headache issues lately, so I figured it was time to find an eye doc... given I hadn't had an eye appointment since 2001... First I was greeted by a lovely red-haired (and super fashionable) young gentleman who took care of my preliminary checks before I saw the doctor. He was courteous and kind, and explained everything as it was happening. Then I saw Doctor Noriko Ho, who was a total sweetheart, and really took great care of me (especially after I told her how long it had been since my eyes had been checked)! She diagnosed me with astigmatism and farsightedness, and got me a prescription for glasses, then took me back out to speak with the younger gentleman about frames. Things I loved about Oculus: - Zero pressure to buy extra "addons" (though they are offered on the pricing sheet) - Zero attempts to upsell me more expensive frames - Honest opinions and feedback on how frames looked - Super fast appointment - Professional staff - Far less stuffy and stressful than other doctors offices - Detailed explanations on what was being done at all times - Doctor had a cool sense of personal style and manner that made me super relaxed - Easy to find location/parking So glad I came to Oculus. After reading all the great reviews for Oculus I knew I had to check them out myself. The staff are super professional and friendly - I received a breakdown of my medical insurance's coverage the day I booked my appointment through email. I received reminders of my appointment through email the day before. Dr. Ho gave me a great check up and exam - and even did a double check of my eyes after I mentioned dryness issues. Cody was great and picked out so many amazing selections for me to choose from. He was so nice and changed the screws of my old glasses and called my prior glasses provider for information regarding the lenses. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, explaining what they were looking for with each different test, and spending a great deal of time with helping me choose glasses to fit my face. I've been here now twice in 3.5 years. I've seen both doctors and dealt with most of the staff. I can't say enough good things about this place. Coming from Chicago and L.A. I've noticed customer service in Seattle in general isn't that great overall. But Occulus sets the bar. Everyone here is so incredibly professional and friendly. Extremely efficent service and a really nice clean calm atmosphere. I also loved that both Doctors explained to me options and concessions with my decisions. Whereas with many healthcare providers you'll be directed in a single approach to your health. I had the slightest up tick in my Rx and even tho clinically there was likely no need to change my lenses they mocked it up to try on and read differnt media just so I could see for myself and make my own decision. It's so rare you find this type of approach and extra time given to a patient or customer. AAA+++ I wouldn't recommend any other place in the PNW. Whatever they're doing for training and customer care education they should license it to the world and ride away in a private jet. read more

Awesome eye glass buying experience! In the 20+ yrs I have been buying eye glasses, this was the first time I felt the glasses were being truly customized for me. I have a small face and need small glasses. Sara pulled out all the glasses per my specifications. I got to try them on. She even got me cool sunglasses which could be made with my prescription! She knew exactly what type of lenses to have made and had great practical suggestions from her experience with other clients. I'd give this place more stars if I could! When it comes to frames I am picky! I searched so many eyewear shops in the city, finding few pairs I liked before finding this place. Oculus has such a beautifully curated collection. I live on an island and only make it over to Seattle sporadically. They worked with my schedule and the Barton Perreira rep to get me additional frames to try on, then mailed them out to me. I even had a particular small qualm with the tortoise print on that specific pair and they were so understanding... let me send them back and then replaced them with the perfect pair. As a patient over the last four years I can't say enough good things about my experience here. My eyes are such that contact lenses have always been a challenge for one reason or another but the folks here found and recommended a model of off-the-shelf contacts that are both comfortable and able to correct my vision to the same degree as glasses. When the very first set wasn't quite right, they refined the prescription and got replacements back to me with zero hassle and negligible wait time. The clinic is clean, well-kept and has modern diagnostic and imaging equipment so the exams I've received here have been noninvasive. Its a big plus for the squeamish to be able to receive a complete eye exam including high-def imaging without anything needing to physically touch your eye. Dr. Woerner is always willing to share his knowledge on topics ranging from the workings of the eyewear industry to the details of eyeball anatomy. 5/5 - will return. read more
