It was... fine, I guess? When this same office moved to requiring separate days for the contact lens fitting and the annual check-up, it was the catalyst I needed to search for an alternative. Two friends happen to see Dr. Lo at Eye Clinics QA. I seamlessly transferred my records and easily made an appointment. The first time I visited the clinic, my exams went quickly and smoothly. Dr. Lo listened to my very nuanced concerns, had me try out a newly-tweaked prescription, and it made all the difference in the world. My second annual appointment with him this year was no different (only it was moved to the Ballard location, as this one is still being renovated!) I cannot recommend this office, this doctor, and this experience enough. My only regret is not finding them sooner. Thank you Dr. Lo and team!

I broke my glasses and couldn't make it down to Costco where I normally go till the weekend. I past by this place on my way to my bus stop so decided to check it out. I was really impressed. First, compared to my exams i'd been getting at Costco, this was way better and a lot more comprehensive. The doctor was very friendly, took his time, showed me this cool picture of my eyeball and explained to me what he was seeing and if there were any concerns. New place so everything is new and newer equipment. The front staff person that helped me pick out a new pair of glasses was great. She wasn't pushy and had me try on a few different frames (ones that I didn't think would even look good on me and was very skeptical about). My exam was covered by insurance and my out of pocket for my glasses wasn't much - can't remember what my last pair cost but I didn't think it was outrageous. The bonus was it only took they a few days (way faster than I thought) to get my glasses back and I got to pick them up on my way home. It saved me 2 trips to Costco where I always end up spending too much $$$ for that jumbo size tub of something that I don't need. Net is I saved $$, ate less and look hip in my new fancy specs. My eyesight isn't what it used to be. I usually sigh deeply when I think about replacing my frames. Oculus Eyecare made a necessary chore seem more like a shopping trip with my girlfriends. I already had my prescription in place, but Dr. Woerner took the time to welcome me to their beautiful new location and introduced me to the very knowledgable, professional and exceedingly helpful staff. They put the fun back into eyewear for me, managed my insurance, and even located my prescription when I couldnt recall where I had been last. Not to mention my very "smart" looking frames. After a few weeks of unsuccessful glasses shopping, it took only five minutes in this store for me to spot the perfect frame (frames?). I then benefited from the full attention of an associate, and was out the door within 15 minutes, having placed an order for new glasses. The expected ETA? 2 business days later (!!) When it looked like there might be a 24 delay to their original ETA, the store wrote me on Saturday morning to notify me early on so I could plan accordingly. That is what I call customer service! Finally, the store was in fact able to meet the original ETA... Better still! I highly recommend Oculus Eye Care. read more

The Doctor was easy going and thorough. Gave me the time and attention needed.I did a good bit of research before finding this place, I am pretty picky about my eyewear. Its always a good sign when the staff seem genuinely nerdy about glasses themselves, and I was pleased to have a dorky conversation with Solange about designers and behind the scenes details of the frame lines. After seeing so many high reviews on yelp, I chose to have my exam at Oculus. I was wondering what incentives they give to their patients to give so many raves. After a very fun and very informative check-up with extra attention to my serious questions and playful curiosity, a handful of above-and-beyond extras, and then finding the most perfect frames in the world (and informed they were HALF OFF), I decided there are no incentives for high reviews. For someone that hates going into any doctor's office, dentist or anything like that this place was a very nice experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful from the office assistant to the optomitrist. The appointment was on time and the optomitrist took time to answer unique questions from prescription cycling glasses, Lasik, and contacts. Continually blown away by this place and all of the staff. Everyone I've interacted with here is kind, efficient, and knowledgable. As someone who didn't have a clue what kinds of frames would look good, two of the ladies spent 20 minutes with me helping me pick out the perfect frames and gave me honest feedback about what looked good and what did not. I love my glasses, and get so many compliments. Oculus is expensive, but completely worth it. Definitely come here first. read more

Was looking for a Optometrist in South Lake Union, turns our this shop opened the day I searched it! Figured, why not check them out. Dr. Woerner was really nice and knowledgeable and the space is modern and cool looking. Turns out that my optician Eva that used to work at Seattle Eye MDs now works here so that was a bonus. They gave me the thumbs up on these IC Berlin glasses I picked out-I've been wanting a pair for years but didn't want to buy them at Market Optical. read more

Had a great experience at Oculus Eyecare! Dr. Woerner and his team were very friendly and the office environment reflected the service - simple and easy. They even fixed a pair of sunglasses I had with me that had not been purchased there. They also direct bill your insurance which is great and not always the case at all offices - even for hardware! I first came here in 2019 having issues with burning from dryness. She explained to me what was happening in a way I could understand it and made a plan to switch me to daily contacts instead of the 2 week I had been wearing. It's been two years and my eyes have never felt better. This last visit she gave me a couple different brand options to chose from and let me go home to do my own research on pricing and availability (I order contacts both from Eyes on You and from a third party website) before she wrote my script so I can make informed decisions. I am also considering lasik and since she had worked in a lasik office, she had a lot of information on what to realistically expect, thoughtfully answered all of my questions, and eased a lot of my concerns. I have referred my colleague to her who also had a great experience. I can't recommend her enough!

Friendly tech took me back. Then I met with Dr. Lawson. She was kind & thorough. She explained everything so well and patiently answered any questions I had no matter how silly or small. I never felt rushed. Time to get glasses. Dr Lawson walked me out asked about my style and when I said I wanted to stay within my insurance allowance for frames she said no problem. She grabbed a bunch of frames and gave them to Jessica who picked out more frames. Both Jessica and Dr Lawson looked at the frames I was trying on giving me honest feedback. They were clear about what looked good what didn't and why. I trusted their opinion when they both agreed on a pair. 2 weeks later I picked up my glasses I loved them. They adjusted them gave a case mirco fiber clothes and a cleaning spray. Later when I noticed they pinched a bit, I walked unannounced they helped right away! I've told all my friends to go here for their next exam! I love them!

They never sent over an email confirmation (they said they would) after we'd scheduled an appointment over the phone. With no confirmation email, I thought I had not been scheduled. I then made two online appointments, ended up cancelling the one that didn't work with my schedule. Thats when he proceeded to reach out for a call back (voicemail & email). Essentially, I got on the phone for him to tell me that I was in the wrong. Apparently, if you make an over the phone appointment, they don't send an email confirmation. SIGH. Whatever. Dr. Appt: Once I got in for my appointment, it was smooth sailing. Met with Dr. Amaraweera who was super thorough and took her time to ensure my prescription was accurate. She helped me find a contact lens that works with my astigmatism, and her recommendation was spot on. First time ever that a contact lens fit like a glove and my vision was crystal clear with contacts! That's saying something for people who deal with astigmatism and contact lenses. Glasses Sales Rep: I feel bad for not remembering this person's name. They helped me pick out glasses, and they were fantastic. Young white brunette with a cool facial piercing, loved them! We had over a dozen glasses strewn all over the table and had fun finding two that worked really well for my low nose bridge. They also helped me fit two old prescription sunglasses and glasses with my new prescription. They broke down all the costs and how to best use my insurance to cover the most expensive glasses. Patient Portal Rx Follow Up: It's been over a week since my appointment, and I thought I'd be able to easily access my prescriptions for both contacts and glasses online (as was advertised). There was nothing uploaded to my patient portal, no documents at all about my visit. I had to call the front desk and confirm my contacts were working for me. I didn't realize they needed verbal confirmation after the appointment was over. I've never had to confirm my contact Rx after I've left the clinic, so that was new for me, but obviously my bad. They did finally upload my glasses prescription after my request. Small victories. Overall: I think the clinic is worth the visit. Just be prepared for regular human shenanigans. I don't know if all front desk staff are given a training on passive aggressive "bless your heart" kind of attitude, but it is rare to walk into any clinic and be treated like an adult instead of a toddler who's name you just can't pronounce. Dr. Amaraweera was wonderful and so was the glasses sales rep I worked with. WOULD RECOMMEND!

The exam was quick, we talked about how the new glasses would help neck pain and eye strain. I told him I would love to have one place I go back to again and again for eye care as I don't have insurance for it and am paying time of service. I cannot recommend Seattle Optical and Dr. Hoffman highly enough.
