Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice
Michael E.

Ocha has been around for a long time, and even though it's relatively close-by I've never been there. Recently though I came across a Groupon deal I couldn't pass up, so I decided to give them a try. I was glad I did. I was initially skeptical when I got there because it was almost 6pm and the restaurant was completely empty, but within 30 minutes almost every booth was filled. The service was beyond friendly. They even pointed out that we could order more because we still had money left on the coupon we purchased; something we didn't realize. A couple of the stand-out items we ordered included the Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice, the Shrimp Tempura Roll and the Sweet Potato Tempura Roll. We really liked that the tempura in the rolls was fried to order. There's nothing worse than greasy, cold tempura that was made earlier in bulk (something too many sushi bars do). The parking is a bit tough since it's strictly street parking and there are several other restaurants located nearby, but if you're willing to loop the block once or twice Ocha is definitely worth trying.

We had a Groupon for this restaurant and decided to use it tonight. We made reservations for 7pm(LOL), the place was pretty much empty except for the two tables of patrons, the 3 sushi makers and a waitress. A few take out orders were picked up while we were there. Hearing good reviews on the Ocha roll that was my first choice as well as a cucumber with shrimp roll. I also ordered the House special Miso soup. The Ocha roll was a bit disappointing to me as it was bland tasting and not a bit spicy at all! The spicy tuna just wasn't. The cucumber shrimp roll was plain but it was fresh and delightfully crunchy. It was a bit confusing ordering this simple roll. I was charged for a NoratiThe House special miso soup had a few tiny bits of tofu, sliced white mushrooms, seaweed pieces, and served with a side dish of crunchies. In some places this would be the regular miso. My roomie ordered the banana and cucumber roll as well as the sweet potato tempura roll. She enjoyed them, I tried the banana /cucumber roll and it was unremarkable tasting. Our bill was incorrect but quickly corrected. I personally would not go back they don't cut it enough for me.

My first time here. I had a sweet potato tempura roll and a banana cucumber roll. The sweet potato tempura roll was good. The banana cucumber roll was something I never heard of before and it was very good! Check your receipts because they didn't charge us correctly on something my guest had. Nice atmosphere but not the best sushi I've ever had! The sushi is good, but it's just regular. Nothing special it extra tasty. Service is ok. I would return but only if in the area and was in the mood for sushi! Not a place I would crave like Kenko in Lincoln Park.

Right off the bat, this place has fantastic selection for fun sushi rolls. They have over two pages of just specialty rolls. They are fusion too so they have Thai and some noodle dishes. Really great menu selection. We stuck with sushi and it was great, everything was really really fresh. The interior is nice and they definitely didn't rush us out. It was nice cause it turned into a long dinner but if you're looking for something quick you might have to flag the server a few times. I don't mind a leisure dinner though. Can't wait to go back and try new rolls.

First time here. We ordered sushi B and mango chicken. Sushi was top class but the Mango chicken was sloppy. We will come here for Sushi again. We used Groupon that was no problem.

Ocha Roll, looks like art and is a delicious masterpiece!

Loving the amazing rolls at Ocha.! Such a wonderful find. We had the sushi pizza as appetizer! Be sure not to miss it. Then had Fancy Roll, Monster Roll and Ocha roll. Each was tasty and we found it to be creatively prepared, and fresh! Such a variety of choices. We will definitely be regulars from now on!

Amazing sushi! Ocha. Pink lady.

Where do I begin with our LOVE for Ocha. Moving into Caldwell recently, we have been very excited to try out all the new restaurants however within our first times eating out local we found ourselves going BACK to Ocha because we loved it that much! SO many good rolls. Ocha. Fashion. I'll come back with other updates, can't think of them off the top of my head. TRY IT!

Lunch combo. Great deal for $16.95 (includes soup and salad).

5 Stars I visited…read moreMiga Sushi in Livingston, NJ at the end of May, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. A friend and I decided to try the all-you-can-eat sushi, and it was one of the best dining values I've found in a long time. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Every dish we ordered tasted fresh and high quality, and honestly, we ended up ordering more than we could finish because everything looked so good. What impressed me even more was the service. We arrived around 4:00 PM and stayed until almost 8:00 PM catching up and enjoying our meal. Spending four hours at a table is not something every restaurant appreciates, but the staff was incredibly patient, welcoming, and never made us feel rushed. They continued to provide excellent service throughout our entire visit. To top it off, we even had dessert, and the total bill for two people was around $80. Considering the amount of food, the quality, the desserts, and the excellent service, I thought it was an incredible value. It's rare these days to find a restaurant that delivers great food, great service, and great value all at the same time, but Miga Sushi absolutely does. I would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend the all-you-can-eat option to anyone who loves sushi. Highly recommended!

The pork slices were big although I wouldn't say they are as good as those found in very traditional and higher end ramen places in NYC. But at this price point in the suburbs, the place is absolutely a 5-star. Look it's not Ippudo or Ichiran... it's part of a small group with various locations... but it's also not your typical suburbia mall Japanese spot either. The drinks are very well priced too. Service was very friendly, it's convenient with lots of parking, and they seem to be quite busy midweek for early dinner. I've yet to find a go-to ramen place in NJ... Ani Ramen is popular around here though I think this is better. It's good enough for this ramen snob to not make me want to drive into Manhattan to seek out ramen even if it's not exactly quite like the very best in the city.

They also brought out a complimentary bowl of kimchi to start the meal, which was lovely. Everything was pretty good. The ice cream came with a disposable soup spoon, which was too weak and deep to easily eat the ice cream. I wish they would provide regular flatware instead of disposable, but that was the only issue. I had the donut for breakfast the next day and it was still nice and chewy.

Overall, restaurant had a cute environment with flower decor once you enter. Everything was delicious and our server was very generous (they offered 2 salmon nigiri on the house, which was very nice of them). We ordered a few rolls and, after complimenting the chef on how delicious they were, were treated to two complimentary pieces of seared sushi. Yum!!! The menu also offers a nice selection of Japanese and Korean dishes if you want to explore beyond sushi. We tried the bibimbap, which unfortunately wasn't our favorite. Although it was served in a hot stone bowl, the bulgogi was a bit lukewarm and the egg was overdone. I also would have preferred for the staff to mix it for us when it was served. The ambiance is lovely, especially compared with many of the nearby sushi spots, and the service was warm and welcoming. Overall, a really enjoyable experience. Well done!

I love temaki! We started with shishito peppers with a smoked honey miso. I was curious to see how they did vegetarian options, so I went with five plant-based temaki. I'm hard-pressed to pick a favorite; each one was so delicious! -- avocado "toast" -- cucumber black sesame -- tofu chimichurri -- sweet potato tempura -- maitake truffle Our waiter was so nice and welcoming. She checked in on us and answered questions that we had about the menu. That kind of genuineness and hospitality always makes the dine-in experience a notch above. I hope to return again soon.
