My experience with Dr. Allen is that once I started having issues during my treatment, he stopped treating me like a human. When you're in the treatment chair, you're facing a wall. He used to come up behind me and say NOTHING and just lean me back and start sticking his fingers in my mouth. At one point I was like "no. We need to talk about the issues going on" (I was having severe headaches everyday, neck pain to the point of needing muscle relaxers prescribed and my gum graft had disintegrated leaving me needing another $2,000 procedure to replace my gums) I know he can't control those things for the most part but damn, he could have treated me with a little kindness and care. I felt so traumatized most of the 10 months I was with them and wish I had never stepped foot in there.

I was told a certain price over the phone and they said I could decide whether to move forward with the process or not, but when they took me in and the Orthodontist had already reviewed my mouth and the broken piece, at that point, I was charged for the consultation and could not go back. Right off the bat, the woman on the phone was so sweet, polite, and was able to answer all of my questions in a heartbeat. Instead of having to wait a week to schedule my appointment they had openings the same week! I ended up scheduling for 2 days out. When the day arrived, I drove to the office using google maps. It was very easy to find since the side of the building said Hulse Orthodontics. The parking lot was very spacious and had ample parking available. Right when I walked in, I was so amazed by the interior design. It was so modern, rustic, and comfortable. Basically - nothing like all the other dental offices I've been to. Instead of a dental office, I felt like I was in a new home showing. I could tell that the office was very kid friendly because there was a separate section for arcade games, what?! I walked up to the front desk and the woman already knew it was me even though it was my first time! I had already filled out the forms beforehand so I handed her those and got checked in within a minute. After about 3-5 minutes, another staff member grabbed me to go do all of my scans. This is a predominantly female staffed office FYI. Everyone was super nice and seemed to enjoy working at this office. ********************* ORTHO CONSULT: I can go on and on about my experience, but I just wanted to say that Janelle and Dr. Hulse was AMAZING during the consult. They told me the good, the bad, and what I should expect. Janelle was so knowledgeable and answered all of my teeth and insurance questions without any hesitation. Overall every staff member I met today were very kind, smart, and professional. I wish they did general dentistry here too, but unfortunately only orthodontia. I saw a lot of kid, teen, and adult patients so I know that this office is popular for all ages. Overall, I am going to recommend this office to every single person I know. I could have gone to a different ortho office to get my treatment for a smaller, lower price, but I am happy to pay for the customer service and informative treatment here.

The entire experience from start to finish was very easy, and the visits were enjoyable each time I went to Dr. Willes' office. I can't say enough about Dr. Willes and the staff. Carrie, the receptionist is always so friendly and continually greets you with a warm smile and friendly personality. I don't know how she does all that she does up front by herself, but she is a pro and never makes you feel like a burden. I've actually seen her out and about in Carlsbad and she was just as friendly and even remembered me. Marissa, the gal who does all the finances greets me every time she sees me as well, and she is just as friendly. All of the assistants are top notch, Dr. Willes is lucky to have each and every one of them. They always remember details about me and ask me things that I/we talked about last time. They feel more like friends that I am visiting with. They truly care about each of their patients, and did such a great job making me feel special every time that I had an appointment. Even when I am getting worked on by one assistant, and the other assistants are with other patients, they all say hi to me and ask me about things going on in my life. Dr. Willes is one of a kind. I have met plenty of orthodontists (as I am in the dental industry), and few have the personality and friendliness that he has, on top of the excellence in dentistry that he provides. He cares about his patients, and does anything he can to make them happy. He asks how things feel and if you are happy the entire way. He's also very good at explaining things without making you feel like a question you asked is stupid. He is for sure an expert in his field. He has done a great job cultivating a very down to earth, caring, and inviting practice. I love my smile, it was totally worth going through orthodontics. To top things off, when my treatment was finished they gave me the cutest little goodie bag. That was the icing on the cake. I was already so satisfied with the outcome of my treatment, I could not of been happier. The bag showed that their office goes the extra mile, allowing each patient to enjoy eating the treats now that their braces are off.
