    Very nice pool!!
    Sue F.

This is a great RV park. This RV Park isn't the cheapest by far, but its location and property value, I get it. We've been going here for 4 years... it has improved greatly over the last 2.5 years (thereabouts). No more trashy sketchy looking RV'S or folks. I get it though, price of Property they had to step it up, and they did! Accommodated our 41', 5th Wheel, pull through, easy in and out! Picnic table, no fire pit though. Good security! Every employee is just the best, friendly, helpful, I never have to worry. We've made good "friends " here. Pool / Hot tub are great areas, clean... it's too bad some folks just don't/won't follow rules! No glass or food, peeps! Restrooms, laundry areas are exemplary! Game room is large, we don't use, but it's nice. We have checked out one across the street (down the street a block). I can't figure out why folks stay there. Either place is NOT on the beach, you still have to walk or drive. Anyway, it's pricey, but if you want to be close to the Beach, it's the place to go.... The ONLY complaint, (I'm not sure what they can do), but the dog park is just smelly, it looks clean and sanitized, but I can't handle the odor! I noticed most folks don't use it..... maybe they can look into ground products (??) Just wanted to mention train noise, the other R V Park is right on the tracks too.... I just use my sleep sounds to muffle it.... And as for the Cemetery, (up hill next door) it is a Historical site (or should be), all interred have been so mostly before the 1920''s , PLUS you can't see it! It's a non-issue! We have loved every stay here!

This park is like all of the ones in the beach cities. They are just wide enough for the rig and a picnic table. However, this park has a fence partway between the sites. Most of the sites are concrete Pull-Thru spots. The campground is situated right on Pacific Coast Hwy and is near to everything, except a sandy beach. You can access a beach with just a short drive. The park has a nice but small pool and Jacuzzi. The staff maintains the park in a very clean condition. The Sprinter light rail train goes by frequently and blows their horn but it doesn't bother me. This is our second stay and we will definitely be returning. You can get packages delivered by UPS.

Construction workers couldn't wait until 11am check out.

Our check out was 11pm. Construction workers couldn't wait until we leave. I don't know why camp site host allowed it. Plus I couldn't use the electricity that we paid for. The place is clean and nice and all, but just scares me that it's next to the cemetery. Plus, the train/ tram blowing horn every 15 minutes is so annoying. It is supposed to be a relaxing week

So much fun at, in and poolside

It sits right on the ocean bluff with two sides, bluff-side (oceanfront) and streetside. Obviously bluff-side is preferred, but staying on the streetside is still a treat. Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. The camp spots are all quite close to each other with not much privacy, but that wasn't a problem for me. The park itself seems really great for biking and just walking around. They have long and short trails with lots of nature to look at. The lakes themselves are not too big, but I did see people fishing. There are many benches throughout the trails. There were also many trees that gave me many options for putting my eno up! That's the Western half that is more like the park. The Eastern half has walking trails that are more like a nature preserve. Some reviewers commented about how the trails are unkempt, and that's mostly true on the Eastern side and the Nature Trail. It wasn't too bothersome, as most of the trails were wide enough. The annoying part, though, is that there's a lot of dry, dead weeds/plants that carpet the trails with little splinters, which inevitably get into my shoes and jab me. Other than that, it's an easy, flat-ish 4 miles of walking. Lots of birds by the lake. Parking is paid in the lot, but there's also free parking along the street.

I was looking for one that was relatively clean, with not a lot of people, and lots of sand with few rocks. Tamarack State Beach is that place! Tamarack is the kind of beach that would make a nice spot for a picnic or a place to watch the sun set. I did neither of those things -- just stayed for a while to let my children get into the ocean and bury themselves in the sand. But they loved this beach so much that we visited twice during our visit to Carlsbad. There was a lifeguard on duty, set up closer to the parking lot where the majority of the people were. If you walk a little ways away, though, there is no lifeguard and the people are fewer. The parking can be a little limited, and you have to pay to park. On any given day, I saw swimmers, surfers, kayakers, windsurfers, people fishing or beachcombing with metal detectors. The cement promenade running between Carlsbad Village and Tamarack is especially popular, filled with walkers and joggers. It extends for miles, making it perfect for a longer stroll along the coast. Wildlife added to the experience as well--dolphins offshore, along with pelicans, gulls, and other aquatic life. And beyond the traditional surfers, I even spotted the occasional electric hydrofoil (eFoil), with riders gliding above the water in a way that almost seems to defy gravity. The "Enchanting Blueberry Farm" it is called - and behind that name are actual blueberries! First of all, finding this place was an adventure, due to the lack of a real physical address. You have to locate this place with the help of a GPS. There are two actual ways to get there: one is up a winding mountain, where you and your car will have to drive off the edge to get there (Nah, don't do it! Just back the vehicle up, just like we did, and take the other route!); the other will be provided to you with the help of Ron's maps and hand-drafted directions (it's that adventurous!), which will take you through a small town called Rainbow near Fallbrook. It only took us about 1.5 hrs from San Diego city to get here and once you reserve your spot on their website, Ron, the owner of this camping site of a beaut (He is a very busy man who you may not see very much of; but if you do, he is nice and will come to greet you and make sure that you are happy), will e-mail you the instructions. Now, onto the rest of the details: I could not believe the warmth and friendly welcome by the family that runs the farm! It was unbelievable - like I was taking a trip to some friendly island where people put a wreath of flowers over your head to greet and welcome you. Instead of getting that, you get a handful of plump and delicious blueberries lovingly propped into your hands. All of the family members, including the kids greet you with a friendly handshake and tell you their name. This was no gimmick, rather a heartfelt welcome. I almost wanted to cry. I don't remember the last time I was treated this way while away on a trip. Wow. The area is a beautiful rural area around the mountains, so the weather is bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool at night (the way camping weather should be *wink*)! You will see the farm family's house and then lots of trees in a blueberry "vineyard" when you first drive up. Then, you drive to your camp spot, passing scattered orchards of oranges, lemons and other trees featuring unusual, yet delicious fruits! There is also a farm garden with some banana trees, raspberry bushes and some chickens and a rooster. Mr. Rooster will wake you at the break of dawn :) We stayed at the Banana site #3. the ground here is of dirt and provides a softer base. Building your tent on top of this soil will harbor funny surprises of moles that come out of their holes to rustle the floor of your tent while you are sleeping. You get all the wonderful sounds of nature at night, from the ground moles (or whatever they are), peacocks and the coyotes howling away at dusk. lots of space available for you to enjoy some privacy from other campers and a little tinkle on the ground at night, if you don't make it to the toilet room! The amenities are a bathroom situated alongside the farmhouse with a toilet and shower. The downsides to this is that there is only one on the site and that there is no warm running water at the time. But the cold water was fine for a quick shower. Also, the bathroom needed to be maintained and cleaned. There were some cleaning supplies there and a broom and a water hose, so I cleaned periodically during my stay. I like that recycled materials were used to make the toilet/bathroom. There is also clean, running water at most campsites! Here, you can go hiking, enjoy the fruit on the trees (try the caterpillar berries - yum!!!) and hear legends about the area from the kids who live on the farm. They are so helpful and will assist you in any way! There are also fire pits on the sites. So much more could be said about this place but, I just loved it here and would love to camp here again in the future!!
