She was able to accommodate us in our large 5th wheel at such a short notice! It felt so welcoming and safe and we are so thankful for them! If you are looking for a beautiful peaceful stay this is the place! Spots are spacious, people are kind and it's exactly what we were looking for! We did some hiking and since it was close to Christmas we put up a few decorations and really felt like our cabin was our home. That's what it's like staying here. Home. They had everything you could imagine to cook with. The couples cabin was so comfortable and the heaters were great! We loved the patio area and how centrally located we were. Also, bring some DVD's!!! We went to RedBox in town but had no idea the TV's also were BluRay players! Bonus! One thing I really noticed is how clean everything is! During our stay, we noticed that four other Latino families were also receiving complaints from management. Based on what we observed and experienced, it was difficult not to question whether we were being treated differently. Within approximately 12 hours, we received around 10 complaints. One of those complaints was that our campsite was "dirty." We were traveling with four children, and at the time there was only a single paper plate on the ground while we were actively packing up. Calling the site "dirty" felt unreasonable and excessive. We specifically chose this campground because it advertised itself as dog-friendly. However, we were told our dogs could not be tied to a tree while on a leash. Later, while we were at the pool, we received another complaint because our dogs barked at people walking by. Dogs naturally bark from time to time, and the constant complaints made us feel unwelcome. In addition, there were long-term residents with visible hoarding conditions and ongoing vehicle repair work taking place throughout the campground, yet those issues appeared to receive far less attention than our campsite. We were also disappointed to find that the pond had no fish, despite our expectations. Overall, this campground felt overly restrictive and unwelcoming. If you're looking for a place where your family can relax, spend time together, and enjoy camping, I would not recommend staying here. Our experience left us feeling uncomfortable, unfairly scrutinized, and disappointed.

This campground is nestled on the backside of Palomar Mountain…read more The name "oak grove" holds its value - the entire campground has tons of oak trees which create a lot of shade. we stayed in site #38 and it was perfect for our car with 17ft trailer. there was enough room for another car! The site space was huge, definitely able to accommodate 3+ tents. The sites are spread out enough so you don't feel like you're right on top of each other, which was great. They don't sell firewood at the camp, so make sure you bring some, or visit the market about 5 miles down the road. You'll pass a cute Bar (Garage 79) and a nice vineyard (Hawk Watch), which are worth a stop. Directly across the street is the Oak Grove Trailhead which was about 5 miles roundtrip up to the service road and back. The hike has great views! I really enjoyed this campground for a quick weekend getaway.

Each campsite comes with a fire pit, picnic table, and BBQ and wood fires are allowed. The campsites are close together and there isn't a lot of tree cover to give the illusion of privacy. Some campsites are better than others but all in all this was a great weekend getaway and the stargazing is unreal. Sites 49 and 51 on the Ribbonwood loop looked to be my favorites and I'll definitely book one of them next time. There aren't showers at this campground but there are flushing pit toilets and running water to wash hands and dishes. I wasn't able to find anyplace to throw out trash, so we wound up driving out with it to dispose of later. The host doesn't sell fire wood, but some can be purchased about 5 minutes down the road at the Rainbow Farms Market. ($7.99/bundle of pine.)

Alaska backwoods worthy!!! I wouldn't have lasted without a head net (purchased after reading reviews) for hiking and sitting around camp. I had incense and candles burning all over, permethrin, oils and deet and it was still intense and relentless. Maybe it's the time of year or a bad season...not worth it right now though. The kids had fun looking for sand piggies, shells and sand dollars while wading in the shore and playing in the sand. I took a long walk from the beach side to the marina side where they had a little jetty you could walk out on and I was able to do my son's senior pictures. The restrooms were decent and clean, lots of stalls, space with nice toilets (not those stainless steel ones at city parks) plus showers with hot water! There is also grass hut looking gazebos, a laundry facility and a playground on the beach. My only complaint would be there was a lot of trash on the beach including glass bottles and while my kids were digging, they uncovered a bunch of beer cans! Send out the junior marines to police the area.

The cottages were one bedroom and one kitchenette in a small living space. The kitchen was equipped with dishes enough for four people. The only thing that I did not enjoy, is that no matter how much you clean there will be sand everywhere considering you are right on the beach. You can say that this might be glamping on the beach. We stayed one night in a marina view cottage and was able to watch some military training early in the morning. The next two nights we stayed in the beachfront cottage and woke up to the view of the beautiful beach. The beach is very clean with soft sand. It was hard to believe California had such soft sand that you would normally find on Hawaii.

It's often hard to please everyone in a group but absolutely every person LOVED this house. I sometimes prefer hotels over renting a home because I like the cleanliness and luxuriousness of a hotel, but this was MUCH better. The towels were extremely fluffy and soft, the beds were like sleeping on a cloud, and they even provided little amenity baskets in each bathroom. Everything was done to the service standards of a hotel but with a much more cozy, homelike feel. It was a perfect house for a group. The dining table is large and there is plenty of kitchen space. They have a lot of kitchen supplies, so pretty much anything you could need will be there. They also have a smart TV in the living room so you can log in to your Netflix/other streaming accounts and not have to worry about renting movies or bringing anything. The pool was absolutely amazing. The beach entry and waterfall made it feel like you were somewhere tropical. It really felt like a vacation sitting outside in this backyard. We will definitely be coming back to this house in the future! Don and Pat were such great hosts.
