And lastly during my stay, an onsite Park Staff drove around the campsite periodically. I'm not sure if it's a routine thing but it was nice to see. One thing to note is we had seen some pics on Hip Camp that showed the tent had a large fridge, which we planned on using, but when we arrived there was no fridge on site so we had to do a few ice runs for our cooler. The campground is conveniently located that we could do quick runs for necessities if needed. The bathroom was easily accessible and again, very clean. Overall, it was a very relaxing 2-night stay and we'd definitely come back. We used the pool, fire pits, and although we didn't use it, there is a nice game room that has a pool table, air hockey, and foosball.

Def would come back here and would recommend doing business with them--probably even camp here on personal time! Their dirt parking lot was spacious enough to accomodate our small crew of 15 people + a 30 ft motorhome. There's a pavilion and bathrooms they offered for us to use (didn't even need a motorhome except for our editor to use as an office). This campground is nestled on the backside of Palomar Mountain…read more The name "oak grove" holds its value - the entire campground has tons of oak trees which create a lot of shade. we stayed in site #38 and it was perfect for our car with 17ft trailer. there was enough room for another car! The site space was huge, definitely able to accommodate 3+ tents. The sites are spread out enough so you don't feel like you're right on top of each other, which was great. They don't sell firewood at the camp, so make sure you bring some, or visit the market about 5 miles down the road. You'll pass a cute Bar (Garage 79) and a nice vineyard (Hawk Watch), which are worth a stop. Directly across the street is the Oak Grove Trailhead which was about 5 miles roundtrip up to the service road and back. The hike has great views! I really enjoyed this campground for a quick weekend getaway.

Each campsite comes with a fire pit, picnic table, and BBQ and wood fires are allowed. The campsites are close together and there isn't a lot of tree cover to give the illusion of privacy. Some campsites are better than others but all in all this was a great weekend getaway and the stargazing is unreal. Sites 49 and 51 on the Ribbonwood loop looked to be my favorites and I'll definitely book one of them next time. There aren't showers at this campground but there are flushing pit toilets and running water to wash hands and dishes. I wasn't able to find anyplace to throw out trash, so we wound up driving out with it to dispose of later. The host doesn't sell fire wood, but some can be purchased about 5 minutes down the road at the Rainbow Farms Market. ($7.99/bundle of pine.)

Upon reading other reviews regarding about poison ivy, we didn't see any at the time but just be careful, there wasn't any bugs when I was there (April 26-28, 2024) but if you're planning on going after April, bring bug spray and mosquitos spray or candles. The campground that we reserved online was number 28, but number 29 was more secluded and privacy. It was close to the restroom which has showers on the other side BUT if you're planning on showering at night, bring a head light or a flash light, the light doesn't work in there. The handicap shower wasn't working, can't add coins and the door is jammed, you gotta pull the handle up and it only has one lock working. Bring extra toilet paper, the ranger or host wasn't there at the time and bring your own hand soap too. Shower does have running hot water by the way. There wasn't any signal for t-mobile, didn't really used my phone until we got up to the observatory which had free wifi and cleaner bathroom that has toilet seat covers. Purchased a pin (See pic). Would come back again, it was about a two hour trip to get there.

The hat is for the summer days to protect from the sun rays and gnats and mosquitos. Remedies for poison oak. Things to keep yourself and the kids entertained, for this campground solely offers hiking trails and natures beauty for you to enjoy. Lastly, a positive attitude. You are in the middle of nature and it's elements. My experience: Campsite #29 I came here based on a friend who did a solo camp here and suggested it to be a good place. She came during spring break so water filled the creek as to when I camped, some creeks were dried out or you could hear or see a trickle. It was hot, so flying bugs such as gnats and mosquitoes were present and sometimes they would disappear for a period. Bring your bug spray, candle and hat. The camp host even had a bug zapper paddle, too funny! Because I arrived on a Sunday, late afternoon the campsite was quiet. I'd say maybe 5-6 campsites were in use. So it was quiet. There were two trees at my campsite perfect to set up my hammock. The Oak tree has a large base so I would bring a total of 3 straps to use for one hammock. I had my changing/shower tent. I used it as both this time since I wasn't pleased with the looks of the shower. Plus the camp host told me that the showers (coin op) were thrashed from the July 4th crowd. Parts were broken, and repair orders were still waiting to done. On a hike with some of my friends and their dogs we did encounter a baby snake. We're assuming in was non venomous as we looked from a distance. It was hard to determine because it was on top of leaves. Just below my campsite, a slight slope, there is a creek. You could hear the water trickling. You had to peer through the trees and shrubs to actually see it. I didn't not attempt to go down the slope, looked very tricky. This is were my night visitor greeted me one evening as I lay on my cot looking up at the stars. I sat up and turned on my headlamp to see a raccoon. I got up and it backed away slowly. I peeked down towards the creek and I saw a baby follow behind. So the water will attract critters. So these are some of the important things I thought I should mention. I would love to come back and experience a campground full of campers, Happy Campers that is, but I did enjoy the quiet very, very much. Enjoy!

We played mini golf and pool and almost BBQ'd but it was COLD! Great BBQ's! We did some hiking and since it was close to Christmas we put up a few decorations and really felt like our cabin was our home. That's what it's like staying here. Home. They had everything you could imagine to cook with. The couples cabin was so comfortable and the heaters were great! We loved the patio area and how centrally located we were. Also, bring some DVD's!!! We went to RedBox in town but had no idea the TV's also were BluRay players! Bonus! One thing I really noticed is how clean everything is! They really take great pride in caring for the property. We can't wait to come back in a few months!

The "Enchanting Blueberry Farm" it is called - and behind that name are actual blueberries! First of all, finding this place was an adventure, due to the lack of a real physical address. You have to locate this place with the help of a GPS. There are two actual ways to get there: one is up a winding mountain, where you and your car will have to drive off the edge to get there (Nah, don't do it! Just back the vehicle up, just like we did, and take the other route!); the other will be provided to you with the help of Ron's maps and hand-drafted directions (it's that adventurous!), which will take you through a small town called Rainbow near Fallbrook. It only took us about 1.5 hrs from San Diego city to get here and once you reserve your spot on their website, Ron, the owner of this camping site of a beaut (He is a very busy man who you may not see very much of; but if you do, he is nice and will come to greet you and make sure that you are happy), will e-mail you the instructions. Now, onto the rest of the details: I could not believe the warmth and friendly welcome by the family that runs the farm! It was unbelievable - like I was taking a trip to some friendly island where people put a wreath of flowers over your head to greet and welcome you. Instead of getting that, you get a handful of plump and delicious blueberries lovingly propped into your hands. All of the family members, including the kids greet you with a friendly handshake and tell you their name. This was no gimmick, rather a heartfelt welcome. I almost wanted to cry. I don't remember the last time I was treated this way while away on a trip. Wow. The area is a beautiful rural area around the mountains, so the weather is bright and sunny during the day and nice and cool at night (the way camping weather should be *wink*)! You will see the farm family's house and then lots of trees in a blueberry "vineyard" when you first drive up. Then, you drive to your camp spot, passing scattered orchards of oranges, lemons and other trees featuring unusual, yet delicious fruits! There is also a farm garden with some banana trees, raspberry bushes and some chickens and a rooster. Mr. Rooster will wake you at the break of dawn :) We stayed at the Banana site #3. the ground here is of dirt and provides a softer base. Building your tent on top of this soil will harbor funny surprises of moles that come out of their holes to rustle the floor of your tent while you are sleeping. You get all the wonderful sounds of nature at night, from the ground moles (or whatever they are), peacocks and the coyotes howling away at dusk. lots of space available for you to enjoy some privacy from other campers and a little tinkle on the ground at night, if you don't make it to the toilet room! The amenities are a bathroom situated alongside the farmhouse with a toilet and shower. The downsides to this is that there is only one on the site and that there is no warm running water at the time. But the cold water was fine for a quick shower. Also, the bathroom needed to be maintained and cleaned. There were some cleaning supplies there and a broom and a water hose, so I cleaned periodically during my stay. I like that recycled materials were used to make the toilet/bathroom. There is also clean, running water at most campsites! Here, you can go hiking, enjoy the fruit on the trees (try the caterpillar berries - yum!!!) and hear legends about the area from the kids who live on the farm. They are so helpful and will assist you in any way! There are also fire pits on the sites. So much more could be said about this place but, I just loved it here and would love to camp here again in the future!!

I've visited Banner Ranch many times while a friend rented one of the tiny homes, and it has become…read moreone of my favorite nearby places to unplug and reset. Even though I only stayed inside one unit, the property clearly offers several themed rentals, each with its own character and charm. The setting itself is the real highlight -- peaceful, open, and wonderfully quiet. It's the kind of place you go when you need your brain to slow down. I often stopped by just to sit in the sun, walk the grounds, and enjoy the unexpected bonus... real wild turkeys roaming around. Not decorative -- actual turkeys -- which somehow adds perfectly to the rustic atmosphere. There's also an onsite store (with limited hours, so plan ahead) offering food and drinks. Downstairs is a small thrift shop in what used to be an old saloon -- easily one of the most unique parts of the property and fun to browse. The covered wagon accommodations look especially fun and are on my list for a future stay when I want a quiet escape close to home. Banner Ranch isn't flashy -- it's calm, simple, and restorative. If you're looking for peace, sunshine, and a place to decompress, this is a solid choice. If I could take off half a star I would only because of the limited store hours...however, lets be real....I wasn't there to shop.

They are so sweet to us we fed them (I diced apples in pieces) throw the core in the wild plants (grass, trees etc) according to Todd the store manager told us. Snacks can be bought from the store to feed two burros. We arrived sat we fed them twice on Saturday we fed them 3 times. Sunday we fed them twice before we left - we sure miss them so much you can just stop by and feed them too. We like our pink cottage. We like to come back again!! Christmas sounds good! Hmm
