Upon reading other reviews regarding about poison ivy, we didn't see any at the time but just be careful, there wasn't any bugs when I was there (April 26-28, 2024) but if you're planning on going after April, bring bug spray and mosquitos spray or candles. The campground that we reserved online was number 28, but number 29 was more secluded and privacy. It was close to the restroom which has showers on the other side BUT if you're planning on showering at night, bring a head light or a flash light, the light doesn't work in there. The handicap shower wasn't working, can't add coins and the door is jammed, you gotta pull the handle up and it only has one lock working. Bring extra toilet paper, the ranger or host wasn't there at the time and bring your own hand soap too. Shower does have running hot water by the way. There wasn't any signal for t-mobile, didn't really used my phone until we got up to the observatory which had free wifi and cleaner bathroom that has toilet seat covers. Purchased a pin (See pic). Would come back again, it was about a two hour trip to get there.

The other toilets are dry toilets). - 1 of 4 toilets not working - overgrown weeds at some campsites - firewood not sold at this campground (general store has some for $6.99) Pros ~ - surrounded by nature at it's best - site #29 had great shade, sun too depending the time of day. - site #29 a couple of trees good for a hammock - spigots throughout the campsites - hiking trail to the observatory - reasonable camping fee - paved road and parking pad - general/gift store not far away - vegetarian restaurant next door to the general store - Palomar Observatory nearby (hours 9am-3:30pm) Don't forget to bring: Bug spray, citronella candles, a binocular, telescope and a hat that has material that covers your neck and ears. The hat is for the summer days to protect from the sun rays and gnats and mosquitos. Remedies for poison oak. Things to keep yourself and the kids entertained, for this campground solely offers hiking trails and natures beauty for you to enjoy. Lastly, a positive attitude. You are in the middle of nature and it's elements. My experience: Campsite #29 I came here based on a friend who did a solo camp here and suggested it to be a good place. She came during spring break so water filled the creek as to when I camped, some creeks were dried out or you could hear or see a trickle. It was hot, so flying bugs such as gnats and mosquitoes were present and sometimes they would disappear for a period. Bring your bug spray, candle and hat. The camp host even had a bug zapper paddle, too funny! Because I arrived on a Sunday, late afternoon the campsite was quiet. I'd say maybe 5-6 campsites were in use. So it was quiet. There were two trees at my campsite perfect to set up my hammock. The Oak tree has a large base so I would bring a total of 3 straps to use for one hammock. I had my changing/shower tent. I used it as both this time since I wasn't pleased with the looks of the shower. Plus the camp host told me that the showers (coin op) were thrashed from the July 4th crowd. Parts were broken, and repair orders were still waiting to done. On a hike with some of my friends and their dogs we did encounter a baby snake. We're assuming in was non venomous as we looked from a distance. It was hard to determine because it was on top of leaves. Just below my campsite, a slight slope, there is a creek. You could hear the water trickling. You had to peer through the trees and shrubs to actually see it. I didn't not attempt to go down the slope, looked very tricky. This is were my night visitor greeted me one evening as I lay on my cot looking up at the stars. I sat up and turned on my headlamp to see a raccoon. I got up and it backed away slowly. I peeked down towards the creek and I saw a baby follow behind. So the water will attract critters. So these are some of the important things I thought I should mention. I would love to come back and experience a campground full of campers, Happy Campers that is, but I did enjoy the quiet very, very much. Enjoy!

We got in on a late rainy night and he made sure the heater was on in our cabin. Thank you all so much! Like I mentioned, the weather wasn't in our favor but we still had a great time! We played mini golf and pool and almost BBQ'd but it was COLD! Great BBQ's! We did some hiking and since it was close to Christmas we put up a few decorations and really felt like our cabin was our home. That's what it's like staying here. Home. They had everything you could imagine to cook with. The couples cabin was so comfortable and the heaters were great! We loved the patio area and how centrally located we were. Also, bring some DVD's!!! We went to RedBox in town but had no idea the TV's also were BluRay players! Bonus! One thing I really noticed is how clean everything is! They really take great pride in caring for the property. We can't wait to come back in a few months!

Thankfully we saw Champagne Lakes on the way up and stopped in to see if it was any better. To our surprise this hidden gem was beautiful!! We were greeted by Donna who was absolutely amazing!! She was able to accommodate us in our large 5th wheel at such a short notice! It felt so welcoming and safe and we are so thankful for them! If you are looking for a beautiful peaceful stay this is the place! Spots are spacious, people are kind and it's exactly what we were looking for! Good amenities- laundry room, pool, jacuzzi, lots of families and friendly snow bird couples. Friendly grounds- maintenance staff (Gardner) Cons- really tight spots, trains over night running close with horns, really unfriendly office staff - there was an older women maybe in her 60s that told our daughter she couldn't ride her bike in the empty spots. These spots were empty the entire trip and I was able to watch my disabled son while keeping eyes on her. The woman took it upon herself to tell her ride somewhere else and not discuss it directly with us. When my husband confronted her, she told us to read our bi- laws. They were not in the bi laws. She kept going around looking for citations on campers - very miserable woman. Just know if you're going to camp here she's likely going to try to make your time miserable. Someone please take away her assistant manager push pin someone gave her. She's clearly chasing business away.

The last two or three years really was the peak of quality and service! This trip was a sad let down, the things we had come to expect and look forward to were not remotely close. Spaces were NOT cleaned between campers, this used to be the norm! Staff used to be very present and maintained a level of connection with campers while making sure they helped with any issues and made sure rules were being followed. The pool was heated this trip but the area around it was not as well maintained and the hot tub was WAY TOO HOT! It was dangerously hot, enough it gave my husband heat stroke! He was wiped out for the whole night. It was very VERY hot, was checked and was over 107 degrees. The staff was very hands off, unprofessional and not present. The park was dirty, you can tell the gardeners and maintenance staff were not maintaining like they use to. We stayed for 12 nights and never ONCE saw someone cleaning or trimming etc. They have now imposed a $10 per delivery fee for packages that are delivered to the campground. This is however not posted on TT website or the Oceanside RV Resort site. Its just a sign on their post board out in front of their office that we are supposed to read when arriving. Scammy to me and very very ridiculous for long term guests. Overall the location and price are hard to beat, so we will be back but I am in no rush based off this trip. The prior management and staff really had a care for their guests experiences and showed it in their work. Sad to say that Oceanside RV Resort has definitely peaked and is on the downward fall for sure!

We stayed at the Cowboy Glamping Tent, which was very spacious and clean. One thing to note is we had seen some pics on Hip Camp that showed the tent had a large fridge, which we planned on using, but when we arrived there was no fridge on site so we had to do a few ice runs for our cooler. The campground is conveniently located that we could do quick runs for necessities if needed. The bathroom was easily accessible and again, very clean. Overall, it was a very relaxing 2-night stay and we'd definitely come back. We used the pool, fire pits, and although we didn't use it, there is a nice game room that has a pool table, air hockey, and foosball.

Def would come back here and would recommend doing business with them--probably even camp here on personal time! Their dirt parking lot was spacious enough to accomodate our small crew of 15 people + a 30 ft motorhome. There's a pavilion and bathrooms they offered for us to use (didn't even need a motorhome except for our editor to use as an office). It's also private property so does not need to be included on film/photo permits. But make sure to have some prod insurance to ensure everyone is taken care of just in case! Thanks Troy + team!

The RV itself was so comfortable with a large bed, a shower fully capable of cold or hot water, stove, microwave, oven, all the essentials. I think my favorite part was their saltwater pool and dogs are welcome to join you in the water! They also have chairs up on their hill to sit in while you stargaze. Our stay there could not have been better.

Originally I booked a campsite at oak grove in San diego County but when I went I saw that all the lots were so close to each other and there were no wood to gather, it was disappointing. I love disperse camping. I don't like people around and bathrooms and showers and all that. I suppose "glamping" isn't my thing. I was so disappointed at oak grove I had to find another site last minute. I stopped by a mini gas station along the road near oak grove to ask if they knew any disperse camping near by. She recommended Los coyotes but wasn't sure if it was open. I really didn't want to drive down to Anza Borrega. That was too far. We decided to try los coyotes and the drive seemed kind of sketchy. We kept going per the direction of the gas station worker/owner. Finally, we got to the entrance of the Indian reservation. Right there was the police station as well. We asked the security guard about camping here. He was very nice and helpful. He said we could drive there and check it out. If we like it, it will be 25$ a night. So we drove up, and it's a sort of windy, narrow path leading to finally what was a dirt road. It broke off to upper level and lower level camping. And to the left was a trail parking. We chose the lower level camping. The road was muddy and slippery. We also saw some snow here and there. It was very open! We were also the only ones there! Which was perfect. This place was beautiful! Sooooo, we decided to stay here for one night. It was the closest to dispersed camping on a last minute find nearby to my home. They have random benches and a few port a potty. There is no running water or showers or fire pit or grills. Which was what I was looking for. I brought my axe and chainsaw and all my survival kits. We make our own fire with tinder and a Firestarter. I brought my shovel just in case I needed to do "nature call" things. There were some stones there that were set for a fire. I didn't bring a grill so I had to make one out of wood and stone. We made some fried chicken wings and beef kabobs. It was extremely cold, but my 15-degree bag kept me super warm. It was very dark. I'd imagine this is how they lived a long time ago, but at least the sky was so nice you can see the stars CLEARLY!. The next morning I made some eggs and sausages pretty easily. We chopped a lot of wood and kept the fire afloat for most of the night. I had a great time and really enjoyed how beautiful it was. The security guy was helpful and the Indian natives were so nice. Everyone waved and said hello. It's pretty quiet and clean there. I will definitely come camping here next time.
