Home to a harbor which contains a lighthouse, several shops and restaurants, the Oceanside Sign, and hundreds of boats. Lots of festivals being held every year at different times. Walking downtown gives you a laid - back vibe. It is entertaining to check out the shops and restaurants while you pass by. Pay Parking is everywhere. 2 hours is allowed on the street free. Don't forget to check out the Top Gun house while you're on a stroll near the beach. I heard they serve good pies.

Gorgeous beaches, scenic coastal trails, and a revitalized downtown. Great food, craft beer, and friendly locals.

Another beautiful day in paradise!

We moved to Oceanside from Orange County in 2015 and it was love at first sight. We loved the mix of people, the blend of upscale restaurants and old-timey ones with character and regulars. And you cannot beat the beautiful view of the ocean. It's a beach town so lots of tourists swell the population in the summer, but the rest of the year its just us locals. Here's a few of our favorite restaurants: Best Fish & Chips - Harbor Fish & Chips Best Mexican Food - Diego's Best Breakfast - Harbor House Cafe Best Liquor Store - Red & White Superette Best BBQ - Miss Kim's by That Boy Good Best Italian - Venetos Best Burgers - Ty's Burger House Best Pizza/Calzones - Graziano's Pizzaria Best Cheesesteak - The Cheesesteak Grill Best Sushi - Umi Japanese Grill & Cafe Best Happy Hour - Hello Betty's Best Monte Cristo - Mary's Family Restaurant We moved to Oceanside originally because it was conveniently located between my husband's job at UC San Diego and mine at Cal State Long Beach. But now it's really become our home and we love it.

I live in Oceanside and get to enjoy being close to the beach and ocean, and live in 1 of the best cities in north county. I get to spend a lot of time traveling all over Oceanside enjoying restaurants and food, movies, parks, the beach, and everything that Oceanside has to offer. We have an iconic pier, a great place to walk along the beach on the strand, and plenty of things to do and see. I enjoy North County more than downtown, but there are some cool things to see and do downtown as well. During my travels I come across many things that I want to document and remember so I take and post plenty of pics for Oceanside. I hope people enjoy them and want to visit because of them.

Downtown Oceanside has many great little small businesses and hotel options on and near the pier. Today we hit the beach for Father's Day and BBQ at "That Boy Good" - a recommendation I received from Yelp Elite member that we met at our first official Yelp Event in Carlsbad in April of this year! Some great food and drink finds include; Succulent Cafe for breakfast coffee or a place to study, Hello Betty for lunch with delicious chips, salsa, and tacos too, and Harney Sushi for a broad range of sushi and cocktail selections! There are many more places to see, which might include vintage shops, grocery marts, or the Surf Museum. Or, you may just want to hit the beach!

My husband's job relocated us here 5 months ago from SF, actually Sausalito. I had lived around there almost all my life, so moving down here was a bit difficult, leaving friends, my fav eateries, fun things to do, the diversity, etc etc etc. I felt if I didn't write any yelp reviews, I would stay true to my SF roots. Well, it's time to change all that now. I have found some great places, and some not so great places to eat, to shop, to hang out at. I am still missing Chinatown, Japantown, and all the small out of the way places to by ethnic spices, etc., but it is getting better. The people of Oceanside are friendly and nice. The town is quaint, beaches lovely. I just wish people would pick up their trash as they leave, and dog owners pick up their dogs poop. The weather is lovely and we are a short 15 min. walk to the Strand. So I am embracing Oceanside, PB, OB, and all of San Diego. After all, I live here now and we are homeowners!

Oceanside is a pretty nice place. It's not a wealthy city but a humble military town. The beach and pier are places we visit regurally because it's reasonably safe (yes, there are homeless but not too bad). Parking north of the pier is metered but there seems to be open spots most of the time. Some of the tasty places that I've tried in Oceanside are The Privateer Coal Fire Pizza and Terri Cafe. Both fine for families. Their Harbor area is worth a stop if you're looking to go on a whale watching excursion or a 1/2 day fishing trip. There are also plenty of casual and nice dining options available, many of which serve seafood. - Homeless issues. Most that I've come across have been peaceful and respectful. - Train access like the sprinter make it easy for people living in North-East County to come to Oceanside - Much nicer than Imperial Beach,

Nice clean beach, lots of places to chill out at. Access to metro link. Parking ok(at least on the Friday I went.) one of the longest piers I have ever been on. Fire Pitts available. Good place to eat off of pier.

Although there are some new buildings and now one-way streets, the pier, beach, & harbor are still great attractions.

I was looking for one that was relatively clean, with not a lot of people, and lots of sand with few rocks. Tamarack State Beach is that place! Tamarack is the kind of beach that would make a nice spot for a picnic or a place to watch the sun set. I did neither of those things -- just stayed for a while to let my children get into the ocean and bury themselves in the sand. But they loved this beach so much that we visited twice during our visit to Carlsbad. There was a lifeguard on duty, set up closer to the parking lot where the majority of the people were. If you walk a little ways away, though, there is no lifeguard and the people are fewer. The parking can be a little limited, and you have to pay to park. There is also some street parking, but that's even more limited. Your best best is to hit the parking lot first and maybe circle a couple of times.

Located between Tamarack Avenue and Carlsbad Village Drive, it's a beautiful stretch of coastline. You'll find a little bit of everything here--families, students, retirees, surfers, and plenty of people just enjoying the ocean. On any given day, I saw swimmers, surfers, kayakers, windsurfers, people fishing or beachcombing with metal detectors. The cement promenade running between Carlsbad Village and Tamarack is especially popular, filled with walkers and joggers. It extends for miles, making it perfect for a longer stroll along the coast. Wildlife added to the experience as well--dolphins offshore, along with pelicans, gulls, and other aquatic life. And beyond the traditional surfers, I even spotted the occasional electric hydrofoil (eFoil), with riders gliding above the water in a way that almost seems to defy gravity. Tamarack offers stunning daytime scenery and some truly memorable sunsets. There are some basic rest rooms facilities available. Tip: If you're heading there on a warm day, plan to arrive early--parking fills up quickly!

It sits right on the ocean bluff with two sides, bluff-side (oceanfront) and streetside. Obviously bluff-side is preferred, but staying on the streetside is still a treat. A few things I love about this camping experience: - They allow all forms of camping. Tent, RV, van, etc. - The site has clean bathrooms and warm showers. Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. Truly the most memorable 32nd birthday activity with all my favorite people.

It's a great place to catch the sunset on a Friday evening. We were lucky to book a bon fire pit near the music and lots of bench seating for the show. If parking off-site (like we did since we were just there for the evening), be sure to walk back to the main entrance to exit if later at night as the side entrances are locked at sunset. Great selection of beers, wines, pizzas, wings, and even some Mac & cheese bites.

The first time I went I was able to see a few dolphins, or were they sharks? I'm hoping dolphins. You could see the pier from this spot. Pros: - Plenty of street parking (though be aware of when they do street cleaning) - Few benches along the stairs, and at the top near the street - Great views - Dog on leash friendly, especially if you dog loves the water. Saw plenty of people walking their down up and down Cons: - Not the kind of beach you would lay out on a towel on - Low tide left you only a few feet width of wet sad you could walk along - Bigger rocks piled had multiple signs saying how unstable they were and be careful, though I saw plenty of kids/adults risking it and climbing all over them to get a great spot Would I come again?
