We had a great time on their nice clean, new boat. We saw lots and lots of dolphins up close. Also, got to see three whales. Also, a nice navy air craft carrier!! Very nice crew on our boat. Saw a dolphin stampede! Really a fun time. I could tell the captain liked doing what he was doing and wasn't in a hurry to get back into port. Near the end of the trip he turned once again to see more dolphins. Great trip! Well done!! read more

Fun adventure. Captain and crew very friendly and informative. Only disappointment was we couldnt bring food or drink. granola bars and beer/wine available. Great being on the water! read more

Excellent 2 hours cruise. Hats off to Captain Chris and his crew. Saw two different types of whales, the Brutus and Minky. Followed appx 300 Common dolphins. Thank you all for a great day. David read more

What a delight to be out in open water with a crew who love what they do for both humans and animals! The weather cooperated (although windy) both days which added to the enjoyment of seeing both whales and dolphins! The crew provided information on the animals, as well as, the danger of mylar balloons to the fish. (We picked up 4 balloons!) It was fun, peaceful, and educational. read more

Nice activity to do if you are in the area and want an enjoyable few hours on the water. The staff was great and the boat was really nice. Definitely recommend! read more

We went on the whale watching tour today, early March, but did not see a whale. The guide was very nice and seems very knowledgeable. We had a nice two hour boat ride into deep water and saw dozens upon dozens of dolphins following along on both sides of our fast wake and maybe hundreds more all around the circumference. Coming into and going out of harbor I saw a couple seals. I was pretty disappointed at not seeing a whale since it's called a whale watching tour. I route is this three stars in a set of four or five because I am so disappointed at nit seeing a whale, after anticipating this for a vertpy long time, the old bucket list. I did not understand that the chance of seeing a whale was very hit or miss. But it was incredible seeing as many common dolphins as we did and after awhile a second species came alongside too. A more accurate name for this tour would be a whale searching tour, or a dolphin watching tour.. I had on enough light layers I was warm enough most of the ride, But I would've been more comfortable with a flannel shirt and fleece hoodie and socks, instead of two thinner layers that I wore. I was luckier than some men and women that said they were very cold. read more

It was nice seeing dolphins, i wouldn't pay $45 to just see those though. if you have base access i'd recommend going to ITT to spend $25. beautiful trip, nice people. no whales or sharks just dolphins. read more

Captain Chris and Kristin (I think) were awesome. Boat ride was smooth and we saw a while and many dolphin. Highly recommend. This was my 4th time. read more

We took our grandsons with us for the second time. We loved the whole experience from looking for whales, etc to riding on the boat. Our grandsons, ages 4 and 7 never stopped smiling and were excited . Then we saw many dolphins, sea lions, birds and two gray whales. The Captain and assistant were so good at describing what we were seeing and very enthusiastically! They made sure all of us were having fun and enjoying the cruise. We will definitely go back and bring friends. read more

Went on the 2:30pm, 2 hr whale watching and dolphin tour and it was a wonderful experience! I was in a party of 7 (4 adults and 3 children) unfortunately we had to pay full cost ($30) for all the kids (a 3 and 2 year old and even the 11 month old) in my opinion that is a little steep. Other than that, my experience was great! We saw 3 whales total and got up to 100 yards to one of them! We also saw about 50 dolphins that swam right up to the boat. Keep in mind, every tour is different and the company has no control over what you may see. (The 12pm tour before us only saw 3 dolphins and 1 whale) The boat was spacious and was safe enough to let the toddlers walk around. Tips I will give you is pick the later tour, as it is less crowded and bring a jacket or hoodie because it gets breezy out there! I would definitely recommend this to others! read more

What a great way to spend the evening with 18 friends. We had cocktails, saw dolphins and got soaked (but only if you stood at the bow like myself and a friend), but that made this sunset cruise that much more memorable. I highly recommend this cruise. The crew was great playing only the music that we liked and danced to and keeping our glasses full. read more

No whales but we came upon a school of dolphins! Went with our 2 kids under 10 and we all had a great time. Spotted some sea lions and schools of fish. Highly recommended! read more

Best experience we've ever had. We were running a little late and they waited a couple minutes for us before leaving. We saw several gray whales and a pod of 150 dolphins. They said it was completely unusual. We were so happy and couldn't have asked for a better experience! $39 per person for a little over 2 hours. read more

We are locals who decided to go on a whale watching tour as a birthday gift to me this year. Locating the office and the dock was super easy and the staff was courteous and upbeat. Our tour was the last one on Sunday and we went as far North to San Onofre chasing after a Mother whale with her baby. Once we turned around we headed South down near the power plant in Carlsbad. We saw a variety of dolphin families and the captain and one of the staffed crew helped us to spot these in the ocean. Our time out on the boat went quickly although we were out longer than 2 hours. It was a great day and a real treat to see the whales making their way North from the Sea of Cortez. Such a nice 80 degree day out on the water in mid-April. Definitely a trip worth repeating! :) read more

So much fun! My family and I went on an afternoon tour over the weekend. The boat is clean and comfortable. It's doesn't seem like they overbook the tours so everyone has room to move about the boat for optimum viewing. We were able to see Dolphins (which was amazing because they hung around us for awhile), sea lions, and a large whale. The staff were super knowledgable about each animal and the area. We did get a bit wet which was a little unexpected. The water was choppy and a couple people up front were soaked. I would recommend that they warn people ahead that there is a risk of getting very wet if you sit up front on the way out of the harbor. read more

This is a spectacular way to observe whales and dolphins where they're meant to be, out in the OPEN SEA! We take our family every summer and look forward to another adventure with the captain and crew. I highly recommend Oceanside Adventures!! We saw large pods of dolphins and if you're lucky you'll see a whale too, keep in mind this is NOT a guarantee as it is the wild and not some tiny tank like Seaworld traps them in. Dolphins and whales need the open ocean to live healthy happy lives. Plus their echolocation in a concrete tank makes for a highly stressful environment. I'm not against zoos, but these intelligent mammals are simply not meant to be in captivity. Try Oceanside Adventures and I promise you won't be disappointed!! read more

My sister and I went on a whale watching trip 1/24/22 that was amazing! We got to see several whales and hundreds of dolphins! The captain and crew were all really great! The captain was able to find several different whales for us to watch and we enjoyed his commentary! When we asked either of the young women who were working any questions or for help they were very informative and helpful! It was a fun, great, amazing trip! read more

Went on a whale watch on January 22 and it was fabulous! We saw several fin whales and learned so much about them. The boat was roomy and there was plenty of room for every on board to see. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again. read more

I called to make our reservation. It was very easy and I paid over the phone. We were on the 2:30 tour. Arrived at the harbor around 2:00. We were greeted with a friendly hello, and boarded out boat. Brett was our on deck guide & bar tender. He was super friendly and knowledgable. I didn't catch our captain's name, but if I remember correctly it was his 22nd birthday. We had an exceptional time on our tour. It was about a 2 hour boat ride into the Pacific. We saw beautiful views of the ocean and coast, gorgeous birds, Dolphins, sea lions - but unfortunately no whales. Brett said this is not common. We were given our tickets back to come again for another tour anytime because we did not see any whales. This was no need to give us our tickets back, but it was appreciated. We loved the boat ride and the price was worth that alone! read more

Missed the 2:00 Whale Watching in Dana Point. They said if you don't see whales they will re schedule your trip. $16 each. Oceanside had a 2:30 for $39 each. No refund if no whales. Kind of pricey. We went anyway as we missed the 2:00 in Dana Point. Very nice clean boat. No whales, but saw some cool Dolphins. Had a couple beers, and Bloody Mary. Don't recommend a $10 Bloody Mary w Smirnoff. Bad headache. Didn't have extra money for tips. Only take cash for bar service. Hope the boys get paid well from the boss at $39 per person. 7 of us plus drinks. $$$ They Should! read more

I was visiting my sister in oceanside and we decided to go whale watching. We booked out adventure and had an amazing time. The staff is professional and courteous. When waiting to get on the boat they saw that one of us was in a wheelchair, not only did they offer to let us aboard first, they helped us with the wheelchair (it was a steep incline to and from the boat). The Captain did everything in his power to assure we saw something, even running a little over our time. We did see some sea lions and Dolphins. He was able to get us into a pod of over 100 dolphins, that was Amazing!!! They even felt bad that we didn't get to see any whales that they gave us a coupon for a return trip (which we would have done anyways). Great People and a Great time!! read more

It was a fun experience. The boat glides smoothly and goes over waves like it's nothing. Weather was great when we went. There are drinks and snacks available on the boat. The crew are friendly and will answer questions. The staff knew where a pod of dolphins was and took us straight out there. The dolphins were very playful and swam with the boat. We hung out with the pod for awhile, before heading out to deeper water to find some whales. Unfortunately, we did not come across any whales though before having to turn back. I would recommend going, even if it's just for a nice boat ride. read more

I work for Grand Pacific Resorts in Carlsbad. I've lived here for a few years and didn't realize there was a whale watching company so close to home. Oceanside Adventures staff was knowledgeable and fun. The boat it's self is practically new. It was a fun relaxing experience with views of multiple sea life. I will continue to use and highly recommend to others that are visiting to have this experience. Thanks again! Sincerely , Trish Onate read more

Decided to surprise my boys with a boat ride so we went on the whale watching tour with my two boys and my little baby. The price was right and check in with a very nice lady. The boat itself was large and spacious and clean, they sold snacks and drinks and were very kid friendly. Our host took the time to talk with the kids about the whales and various other sea life and were very friendly and offered extra binoculars to the people who didn't bring any. Although we didn't see any whales we did spot sea lions and a dolphin pod and it was a very nice and relaxing two hours on the open water. I loved it and so did my kids and we will definitely be using the coupons they gave to us for our next visit!! read more

Great adventure! We didn't see any whales but saw lots of dolphins. The captain motored around the pod several times and explained several things. We saw several calves. We contacted Oceanside Adventures a month ago from Oklahoma and scheduled a private afternoon cruise to bury my fathers ashes at sea, as his wish was to be buried at sea in Southern California near where he had served in the USMC and lived for most of his adult life. The lady taking our reservation was very helpful and patient with our questions - telling us every detail we needed. The crew was kind and helpful, yet left us to ourselves and gave us the privacy we needed. We had a 4 yr old and 4 teens with us and they all enjoyed the trip out. We were hoping to see dolphins or whales on our trip but we didn't. The boat is very clean and in great condition. Next time we are in Southern CA we will definitely take a whale watching cruise. Thank you so very much for your excellent service. read more

I just wanted to add a picture of one of the dolphins we saw on the trip

Took the 5:00pm tour on 4/27/19. The Captain and crew ( Teegan and Chris) were very knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. Halfway through we hadn't seen anything but the neighborhood sea lions until the crew spotted the water spouts of whale. As we got closer, the whale decided to go down again, but the captain didn't give up. Knowing the whale's behaviors, he continued on course until the whale reappeared for air. Again, the Captain rushed to the whale's position where it was confirmed that it was a Blue Whale. A BLUE WHALE!! Yes!! The whale went under again, but the persistent Captain remained on course in hopes of getting a closer look. Mission accomplished! Such an amazing sight! Thank you for a memorable experience! read more
