I recently had the pleasure of visiting Oceanside Sea Center and it was an unforgettable experience. The staff (Kona and Case.. sorry if I'm mispelling it) were incredibly friendly, patient (with my 5 year old) and knowledgeable, making the trip enjoyable from start to finish. Captain David kept close watch to ensure that all members on the trip were catching fish, which I sincerely appreciated (due to being a newbie)! Thank you! I took my dad & my family on a 3/4 day trip, and it was worth every penny. We managed to catch over 20 fish, keeping 17 of them, which made for a fantastic day on the water. The crew's expertise and helpfulness ensured we had a successful and fun-filled fishing adventure. We woke up late so we were happy that you could purchase food so we had delicious breakfast burritos, coffee, warm cup noodles... and for lunch, we had several cheeseburgers, quesadillas, soda, candy, etc! Thank you, Nacho!! If you're looking for a great time fishing and creating lasting memories, I highly recommend Oceanside Sea Center. They made my dad's visit truly special this year! Can't wait to do this again!

What a fun time filled with lots of information, laughs, and amazing sights. Nate was an excellent captain. He knew just where to go to locate dolphins. We even spotted a minke whale. We loved how having a smaller boat the entire trip was more personalized. You will not be disappointed in this experience.

This place is great! We went out on the Ponto this past weekend on one of the private chargers. We had 12 people on our boat. I hadn't even caught a big fish before BUT on this trip I caught 9 dorados! It was sooooo fun and the crew was super helpful and nice. Our boat caught 81 dorados altogether. It was a very successful trip and probably my favorite fishing trip yet.

This company was a breath of fresh sea air when compared to the other fishing business that used to run out of this location. Patty was so friendly on the phone when we called to book a half day fishing trip. I can't tell you how many times we've tried to book ocean excursions at other places only to get some uncaring millenial trying to get us off the phone as quickly as possible. Patty answered all of our questions and really sold us on using Oceanside Sea Center over the other places. From start to finish we enjoyed our experience and would come back again. Fishing the Chubasco II... Process was pretty easy to check-in (at least midweek). We rented two poles and brought one of our own. The deckhand was great with kids and always rigged hooks and weights for us. "Nacho" in the galley was serving up some tasty burgers. - They also have whale watching and other sea activities. - Look for groupons

What an awesome time with my son and his Marine buddy fishing the Pacific Coast. The sign up process was easy, the boarding went smooth, and the trip to the fishing grounds was about an hour boat ride. The reels, rods, and bait setup are pretty darn nice for rentals. The boat has a galley with food, water, and beer which comes in handy for the 5 hour trip. Deckhands and captain were all nice and helpful. Only issue was we ran thin on bait at the end, there seem to be an issue with the holding tank that killed off a good chunk of the bait fish. We caught 12 fish (white bass, scorpion fish, sea bass, and barracuda) but only one of ours was a keeper. Overall great time and awesome adventure.

    Bat Ray, very fun.

Went out on the Southern California for a half day trip. Totally ruined me, my son, and his girlfriend. It turned us into fishing junkies. The fishing was great and Captain Andy and the crew exceeded all our expectations. We've been coming back as often as we can. This is the new best way to spend a day. The sea is beautiful, the fishing is great. The crew, Jake, Christine, and Marcos are fantastic. So helpful and informative. Captain Andy makes you feel like family and his attitude toward everybody of all ages is incredibly engaging. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. The only downside to this is that eventually the day ends. This is the place to go.

Have gone on this fishing tour 3 times now with captain Andy and every time has been amazing. Not only do I get a nice few hours of fishing but I also always come off the boat with new knowledge. I also appreciate all the deck hands I have been lucky enough to meet with a special shout out to Marcos for having so much knowledge at such a young age. I can't wait to book my next trip with Oceanside Sea Center!!

    Catch of the day!

What a great day! The heck hands were very helpful and quickly got tangles managed. The galley had awesome food and also great prices on beer! $4 coors you can't beat! Will definitely come back

What a fabulous way to spend the day!!! Mikey and David were so awesome! Those who fished, mikey and David were so helpful. They were good teachers, helpful and attentive. They know what they are doing and know their fish. They even will cut up the fish in filets for you. Which, by the way, how cool to watch the pros filet those fish! Would definitely do this again!

I cannot express how amazing the crew was. Truly made for such an incredible experience. The deckhands were wonderful and very patient, the Captian was great. He got us right on top of the fish and was helpful ensuring that everyone was having a great time and catching fish, and I cannot say enough about the wonderful Jolene. She is not a cook, she is a chef! I didn't expect wonderful food from the galley but she puts her heart into it and the food was GREAT! (Not to mention how helpful she was teaching my son how to fish). Highly recommend Oceanside Sea center and specifically this crew.

I've lived here my entire life and have never been whale watching but have always wanted to,…read morehowever it's just not an experience I'd typically consider splashing out on for myself (**spoiler alert - my visit was less than two weeks ago and immediately after disembarking I told my husband I wanted to get on another tour stat!) For Christmas, my husband's aunt gifted tickets to our entire extended family to enjoy a whale watching tour together so we finally landed on a date and it was an awesome experience from start to finish. We arrived about 15 minutes early for our 9:30am boarding time, checked in at the kiosk and were given paper tickets to be handed over to the crew as we came aboard. Once onboard, we were introduced over the speaker to the captain and crew and given a quick rundown of the itinerary and safety procedures. We navigated through the harbor where we spotted our local sea lion neighbors basking in the sun which especially delighted the kids and the out-of-town/state passengers, sailed out of the harbor and into the open sea. It was a pleasantly calm morning with hardly any wind and very smooth sailing. The only slight downside was that it was a particularly gray morning, so there was little distinction between the color of the ocean versus the sky but it was very clear and we could see for a long distance. We got probably close to halfway through our two-hour tour without any sightings but once we were about 5 miles off the coast, we started hearing transmissions between the crew over their walkies so we knew to start keeping our eyes peeled. The next half hour or so was spent watching three beautiful fin whales take turns coming up for air, swimming under the boat, rolling playfully and showing their light-colored bellies. It was so fun to be able to move about the boat freely to try to get the best view, some photos and videos, while being filled in by the crew on interesting marine facts. Finally the whales took their deep dives, at which point we were informed they wouldn't be coming back up for air for a while and it was about time to head back. The cruise back was equally smooth as the adventure out, and we got in right on time and prepared to disembark but not before getting coupons for a future expedition and adorable fin whale stickers to commemorate our tour. I can't WAIT to go on another whale watching tour with Oceanside Adventures - it was the best time!! I would 100000% recommend.

What a great day for whale watching!…read more The crew is amazing! Ivy, Tekon, Saxon, Chris. Hope I got all the spelling right! I've been on this boat and it's not always a guarantee as nature is nature but today was perfect. Calm seas, thousands...yes thousands of dolphin and a dozen whales. Mostly humpback but we saw two finback as well. So rad. Can't wait until next time!

Because of my trip with Captain Bob, I just had to write a review, letting people know not to miss out if you are in the Oceanside area. My experience started over the phone with the Captain. I was told that the trip only accommodates six passengers. This was a concern because I was was traveling with a party of eight. I called the captain and my concern was promptly alleviated. Captain Bob was very chill with the circumstances and didn't even charge us extra. We arrived at the harbor around noon. Captain Bob met us at the parking lot and greeted all of us. Already we were all impressed. We headed out with The Captain narrating what we were looking for in order to locate dolphins. He was very knowledgeable about the ocean and taught us quite a few things about boating and sea life. He also had very interesting tales to tell. I was torn between listening to stories or focusing on novelty of being out at sea. The Captain even let one of our number steer the boat for awhile. Later he served all the 21+ beers. At one point we also pulled random balloons that we saw out of the water. This was us being environmentally friendly. It seems that the Captain was really chill with us doing whatever out at see as long as it was legal, safe, and most importantly, we enjoyed ourselves. The boat was quite roomy and fit all of us comfortably. All of my party were very impressed with the Captain and the trip. I highly recommend Captain Bob for your trip, whether your with your friends or on a date. Don't miss out!

However, there was one problem that made me feel uncomfortable: the boat only has a two foot rubber railing!! Thus, it just seems to me that it would be super easy to go overboard. The weather was great, and the sea was calm. Dolphins accompanied us at the bow of the boat on our way out of the harbor. The water was clear enough to get amazing photos of these playful animals.. Our trip was in between fishing seasons (late January) and it seemed like the fishery was already depleted and all that was left were undersized fish and those pesky perch. So fishing wise the trip was a bust. I can't knock the experience because our burlap sack was empty. There are no guarantees when it comes to fishing. Crew was solid. Mike the deckhand was helpful and had a good attitude. Nacho the cook was serving up some tasty burgers in the galley. Family-friendly? We were the only family on this trip and it was safe for kids. They play classic rock and they do a great job setting up your fishing rigs, even if you bring your own poles. The Chubasco 2 was still a fun time and the Oceanside Sea Center (the owners/managers) did a great job from start to finish. We used Groupon to buy discounted tickets. Recommended. Tips - There were only 18 total fishermen (including crew) on our half day trip on a Friday. That was a good number as there was enough room to fish and rotate spots along the railing. On weekends as many as 40 people fish on this boat and that would be too crowded for me. If you can swing it, go midweek. - Remember to tip the crew. - Many people rented poles ($15). Good idea if you're new. They also provide the hook and weight and will make sure that you're always up and running.
