Booked a room with a king size bed and tub. Upon checking in at 4:30 pm, we walked to our little cottage. The landscaping was nice and everything seemed to be maintained well. It all started with a dead rat in front of our front door. As we walked into our room and it smelled very smoky. I placed my bags down on the chair next to the fire place and my coat on top of the other chair. My coat was covered in dog hair. I love dogs but don't want dog hair on my clothes when traveling. I called to have the rat picked up and we went to dinner. When we returned, the room still smelled smoky. It was so smoky, I couldn't sleep. The in-wall heater got so hot at night we had to turn it off and use the comforter but it was so incredibly heavy and thick that it made things worse. This had to be the worst night of sleep I have ever had. It was almost like having to take care of a new born and waking every hour. This place "looks" great on the website and even in person but it's not comfortable at all. Also wanted to note that I asked the manager for a discount for such a horrible experience and never heard back. Great customer service! They are all about taking your money for the night and not really making an effort to make your stay better. For this property, it's only about location which is why they get 2 stars. The hotel is very nice. The bed is very comfortable. The comforter they use is a bit ridiculous. It's overly heavy. Like they are going to get snowed in. The decoration in the room is nice and sticks with the ranch theme very nicely. The grounds are beautiful. The restaurant is not very good. Not sure if they lack employees, but food was kind of cold and potatoes under cooked. When the replacement potatoes arrived we were already done eating. We were told the room would be cleaned on the second day we stayed, but it didn't happen I asked the front desk and was told iwe needed to request service, because they had to "hire" someone for the day. It's the one place on moonstone beach you can't see the ocean. read more

Great location and expansive property with lots of potential. However - The whole place (from the Adirondack chairs to the bedroom walls)needs a fresh coat of paint and thorough cleaning. The cosmetic aesthetics look great in photos, but the basics like functional windows, draperies, hangers, and general cleanliness are lacking. The hotel branding is on point and memorable. Touches should be added like robes, better towels, better quality bedding, pillows and more toiletries. (no hand soap, had to ask for a refill of the lotion, etc). The comforter was as thin as a sheet with no extra blanket for the chilly nights. Housekeeping service should be daily...or at a minimum...fresh towel delivery considering their low quality. The wood burning burlap sack is a lovely idea for the in room fireplace. The outdoor fire pits and activity areas are also nice for families and pets. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Overall- a really great place to stay but it definitely needs a maintenance face lift to be considered anything close to a luxury stay. read more

Pretty poor overall. Dated, dirty rooms, no fan or circulation in the rooms. Half the fire pits didn't work. When I found one that "worked" I was told to light the fire myself. Fridge barely works and was set all the way to warm when we checked in. WiFi is so slow it barely works at all(3 Mbps) and no cell service. Rude Manager. Two stars because it did have beds and a roof in a great area. That being said, save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

Fortunately we didn't have any cleanliness issues like other guests have mentioned. Overall, our stay was satisfactory. With that said, there were a few things that were a bit challenging. 1) there is only one tiny heater in the room and as far as I can tell you can't really control it? We were COLD at night! 2) as others mentioned, the walls are very thin and we were in a room next to the cleaning closet and the staff would come in the morning and talk on their phones and move things around and we could hear everything. 3) there is no overhead lighting so it can get quite dark We enjoyed the walk to the beach through the property and it is not nearly a mile as other reviewers have mentioned, it's really a short and pleasant walk. We also liked the fire pits which were easy to use and cozy! We had no issues with the front desk staff, they were all very kind. Overall I think this is a solid 3-4 star property, and for the right price is worth it, but would be cautious of if the price gets up over $230 per night. read more

If hell was a hotel. The staff is diabolical. Beware! The reservation agency they work with "accidentally" canceled my third party booking and the hotel manager and staff proceeded to be adversarial, dismissive, and dishonest about what happened. They still owe me money or a two night stay. I wish no one the experience I've had with them. There are so many wonderful hotels in the area. Go somewhere else! read more

The visual is good, tiny heater, room stays cold and the rec room doesn't close so if you are unlucky like me to be put next to it you might be lucky enough to listen to giant jinga blocks falling until midnight or some shuffle board game with large metal coasters hitting each other while being ignored by staff. My water that was outside the fridge was colder than the water in the fridge when I woke up. When I woke up this morning there were dirty socks in my bed..., they were NOT mine . Meaning the sheets in our room were not clean and not changed . The rest of the room was dirty, rugs were sticky and gross and I am just so disappointed and disgusted . We usually stay here several times a year and I have recommended ocean point to all of our friends and family in the past, this was always our favorite place to stay . I'm so sad how downhill the cleanliness and standards have gone . I don't think I can bring myself to ever stay here again! read more

OPR has a great proximity to the ocean but that is a double-edged sword. While you do have an obstructed view of the ocean from the Oceanview Lone Star Cabin, it means you're sandwiched between Moonstone Beach Dr. and Hwy 1, so you get traffic noise at all hours. It's a simple walk over Moonstone Beach Drive or under the bridge to get to the beach and the beautiful boardwalk that traverses the entirety of Moonstone Beach. It's a very quick drive to Hearst Castle (which was our primary destination), San Simeon, and the Elephant Seal viewing point. The Game Room is cool, with an upended canoe and dozens of dangling lights under it, several regular and lawn-sized games and a super slick shuffleboard table. There's a microwave in there for public use if needed. There is a pool but I was way too cold to go in. There were several kids down there who seemed to like it. There are horseshoes and other lawn activities as well as several propane-fueled firepits surrounded by Adirondack chairs to relax in. The room was large, with a table, two chairs, two stuffed chairs by the fireplace, a big bed, a clawfoot tub and a small bathroom with a shower. All true to the website's pics. There is a sliding door to an outside patio with two chairs. The clawfoot tub was a godsend after cold days in whipping wind on the beaches. The cleanliness was mediocre. There were crumbs and a dead mayfly on the floor under the table and the bathroom window had been left open a bit prior to our arrival so there was an enormous bug in there. I don't care about bugs but I know many do. I was just awestruck by its biggitude- it didn't bother us so we just left it up there. The bed was okay. I have an iffy back and it didn't suit me at all, but hubby was fine. I could have used more than 4 pillows. The noise was all night long - highway noises as cars barreled by at all hours. I did finally get to sleep but then at around 7 each morning there was a repetitive snapping noise that seemed to travel from the front of the room past the chimney to the wall - bizarre. Overall it was not great rest for me. I'm irritated at the communication from the hotel. They were constantly on the upsell - get a better room! add a smores package! get a late checkout! have some overpriced water! It's just tacky for a place that is by no means a cheap stay to start with. I had booked directly with the hotel and was urged to join the Pacifica Perks program so at checkout I was offered either the smores or the bubbly package for free, which I thought was a nice touch. I chose the bubbly and it didn't change my total. When I arrived there was no bubbly in the room so I went to the office to get the bottle (which came with two tacky plastic on the rocks cups) and then I went to my email to re-check the reservation confirmation they had sent earlier that week to remind me of my upcoming stay only to see they had added $30 to my prepaid booking. When I asked the reservations about it they said it was for my add-on bubbly. I explained that it had been offered as a perk and my original confirmation showed no charge for it - it was highly irregular to add extra to a guest's check without any notice. But they persisted, so I paid $30 for a "free" mediocre bottle of wine I didn't really even want in the first place. Not cool. So - location - very nice. Amenities - decent. I booked the Lone Star Cabin as the pics looked super cute online. But I had nothing but problems from the start. 1. Upon arrival, I had to wait to check in because Spectrum was installing new cable boxes. No big deal. 2. When I got to the room, I noticed lots of dirt on the floor & countertop. Housekeeper came and cleaned it saying the cable guys made a mess in there. Ok no problem. 3. When I got ready to relax, I noticed ants crawling on the pillows of the bed! The front desk seemed unconcerned and offered to send new sheets. 4. The man showed up at the door and handed me the sheets like I worked there and I should strip the bed and change the sheets! Are you kidding me. It wasn't just the ants, the sheets were dirty & had hair on them. I called the front desk again and he said he didn't have any house keeping staff on site. It was only 6:30pm. There was no way I could sleep there with ants in the bed so I did the 3.5 hour drive back home. So disappointed. read more

Old, bad odor in the room (musky), extremely poor quality outdated showers (small, dingy, and dark). Shower door didn't even close! Poor water pressure. Wifi provided 2.5Mbs speed and no cell service in the area. Heater either stays on or off - the auto mode didn't work (very old in-wall heater). Absolutely outrageous prices for this type of establishment at $250-$350/night. Don't pay extra for the patio rooms. Complete bogus patio, not enclosed and open to other units. Their restaurant, The Cow Tipper, is only open from 7:00 am till noon. On Saturday, I went there at 8:00 am to get coffee and breakfast, but found they were closed for a special event. So no coffee other than the one provided in the room with powdered creamer. No place to get quality coffee nearby either. This place is in need of a renovation. For heavens sake, open the doors and let the rooms air out when empty, the musky odor is really bad (mold?). This would be a one star review but I gave an extra star for the location. This place would be ok if it was $100-$150/night. But at $250-$350, it's very disappointing. Not going back. read more

You know what bothers me when I pay $548.86 for two nights at a mediocre hotel? Two Fiji waters sitting on the TV stand with a price tag of $5.00 each. I just checked and you can buy a case of 24 on Amazon for $27, thats $1.12 each. Delivered. Seriously, what is the point? I hate to say it but the tap water is not very good so do your guests a favor and throw a couple of waters in for "free". And oh by the way, there is only service in the room if you stay more than three nights. All in the name of loving the environment, which is doublespeak for profit. If I want to stay in a place without service, I'll stay in an Airbnb. My wife and I stayed for two nights and since we are coffee drinkers, that means at least one cup each day which equals four coffee pods for two nights. How many do they give you? Two. So after the first morning, that leaves zero. So now my wife has to walk to the office and request two more for the second morning. Is this rocket science? And how much can it really cost for the staff to take five minutes and replenish coffee and towels if needed? And although the hotel has an old school, family owned vibe, it is owned by Pacifica Hotels, a southern California company with 29 hotels in their portfolio including several others in Cambria which makes the lack of service make sense. Now for the good - the bed was comfortable, the pillows were great, the room was clean and the breakfast place is convenient. (The breakfast burritos were very good). That's it, full stop. read more

I love the sort of "dude ranch" overall 50's style and layout (single level throughout the resort) with fire pits, outdoor games, a rec room and pool. Oceanpoint Ranch sits at the most northern end of Moonstone Drive with a restaurant, which puts it in the best location and most well appointed. We have walked all over the grounds, across the street to the ocean as well as used the boardwalk. We love it at Cambria. However, this place is truly overrun with kids in the summer! Don't even think you are going to want to use or can get into the pool, nope! Also, although the evenings are great and nice to sit outside by the fire, there are many nights when you cannot get a seat in the summer. Go in winter, everything is easier. Although we only stayed in a "room" we could not believe the lack of insulation. The rooms get blazin hot during the day and only the marine layer/ocean breeze at night can cool it down. If you hit a heat spell, there is no A/C, stay home. read more

I have a little bone to pick with this place.... I understand everywhere is understaffed and things can get difficult in hospitality, however I was upset by some things that happened during our weekend stay. To start, we paid for a room and check-in says 4 PM. We ended up calling a few days before and asked if we could pay to check in early or if that was even a possibility. They assured us it would be totally fine if we came at 12 PM, so we did. We got there with our dog and all of our luggage and they said they wouldn't be able to accommodate us until 4 PM after all. Fine, not a big deal. What WAS a big deal to me was the fact that there was a wedding booked on site, and that was not disclosed when we paid almost $500 for one night so when we got there, there was people and wedding-goers all around the beautiful site that's supposed to be relaxing and chill. The wedding didn't end til 10 PM, so we were up listening to the DJ crank out tunes until then. Probably wouldn't come back, I would stay at another bed & breakfast down the road that's more of a quiet, romantic vibe if that's what you're looking for. I will say they had options for you to purchase s'mores, wine, and merch from them so that was cool and cute. We purchased a mug and s'mores for the night :) read more

This place looked so cute when we drove up. The room was ok but they had the bathtub in the room and not the bathroom. If you arrived late, for instance coming back from dinner, there was no parking left in the lot. We told the front desk and they didn't seem to care. Told us to park in a handicapped spot or in the 'no parking' area. There was no way to make a fire in the fireplace. There was an old rotary phone in the room But no way to call out. and, the cell reception was non existent. Front desk was not helpful with anything. I am having the same situation as other reviewers here about a wedding. It is 9:30 p.m. and a DJ has been blasting music since earlier this eve. When I called down to the front desk to ask them to tell their wedding guests to turn down the music, so I could sleep and rest, the woman there told me that they had until 10 p.m. No, that was not my issue. I didn't ask for the music to go off, but for it to be turned down for the sake of their other guests, and I told her that I would then call the police to handle it, if the hotel would not. On top of this, the parking was all filled up, and the large fire pit for the area that was advertised would be available to us during our stay, was not due to the wedding event occupying the entire area from 8 a.m. when they began setting up to past 10 p.m. This is not acceptable. I was not made aware that there was a wedding booked, and that amenities promised would not actually be available. What was supposed to be a nice, peaceful lodging, ended up being hideous. Pacifica needs to know how this property is being handled and how unpleasant this lodging is with these wedding bookings. read more

My husband and I stayed here for one night unfortunately there were many things about the room that we were disappointed with... 1. The latch on the outside door to the minifridge was broken and would not shut. My husband banged his knee pretty good on it since the hinge was causing it to swing open. Not sure if the magnet was off or not but this was super annoying since it was right by the walking way. He hit his knee while walking next to it and it swung open back onto his leg. 2. Both USB charging docs that are built in the bedside lamps did not work. So we were not able to charge our phones. 3. The bag of logs provided in the fireplace took me 20 mins and 2 matchbox's later to get started. I used up the first match box so my husband had to walk up to the lobby and get another box.  4. The bed sheets were piled and very rough. Lots of balls which made sleeping very uncomfortable. When booking the room, the description said "fine linens" which it was not.  5. The bathtub has zero privacy and was open in the room. I felt like I was taking a bath in the living room next to the TV. In the photos online it appears to have walls on either side. Our room did not. 6. The sheer curtains had a large rip in them. It looked horrible and was bummed to be in a room that needed so many things fixed. 7. The TV was super tricky to turn on. We tried for several minutes both that night and in the morning to get it to turn on. I consider ourselves pretty savvy when it comes to stuff like that too and we both struggled. read more

Avoid at any cost. Good property but horrible service; actually there's no concept of service. And you pay for everything- You want wine glass? They said you have to buy them. You sant wine opener - good luck. They have 1 wine opener for 75 (or more?) rooms they have. They apparently don't do house keeping. But they say for 3 nights or more they will do house keeping (but they didn't for our stay). On day 2 we asked for housekeeping and new sheets. They changed the sheets but nothing else. They took away used towels but didn't keep fresh towels. On day 3 we specifically asked for full house keeping and guess was room was not touched. I think they lack basic sense of hospitality. We complained to manager and spoke to her when we checked out but that was useless too coz orher than verbal apology there was no compensation. Time to get some hospitality 101 classes for everyone there. Definitely on my block list, never staying there again read more

Ranch-style boutique experience across the street from the ocean! Cambria is one of my favorite places in the world. It's a quiet, small seaside village and the perfect place to visit when you'd like to get away from everything. I always enjoy staying near the beach and being able to take in the salty ocean air all day & night. This gorgeous ranch has been here since 1959! It's been renovated to offer you everything you'd need but still possesses that old charm that I love so much. There's a variety of room types and we chose to stay in an ocean view lone star cabin. The space is gorgeous with cozy details. Loved the wood burning fireplace, soft king size bed, vaulted wood ceilings, and clawfoot bathtub. You also get a large 50" HDTV, separate shower, light up bathroom mirror, and wood for your fireplace. The only thing I'd change if it was up to me is to remove the red painted fence behind the cabins and expose the ocean even more. Each cabin could also have its own private patio back there overlooking the beach. A few other details to note: there's a solar heated pool, outdoor fire pits, and lawn games. The front desk sells marshmallow kits too! read more

Really amazing location with a super cute surrounding area. The area is pretty small with not too many people and nice gathering areas where you can sit around a bonfire with your family. The room itself is cute and cozy! It's a little small, but perfect for spending time with your family. There is limited space for bags and clothes, so pack sparingly. The room is pretty clean and the bathroom is a comfortable size. The lighting in our room was bright during the day. They could provide more lighting for the nighttime, but it wasn't horrible. Our room is backed against the pool, so I can see how it can get loud. Walls are also a little thin. We came here during the weekdays and when the weather was around the 50s-60s so no one was swimming. I would like to reiterate how amazing the location is! Such a short walk to a variety of trails and only a 10 minute drive to the Cambria village. My family really enjoyed walking along the paths down to the sand and also to little viewpoints with benches. read more

The place is situated away from the myriad of inns and motels along Moonstone Beach Drive. Our room was quant and rustic and very quiet, a great weekend getaway from the city. The wood was already provided for us for our fireplace and we got to use it on Saturday night (so we didn't need to find a Duraflame vendor). The stand alone bathtub was unique. You have to get use the fact that in can be rather dark in the room at night (to me that created a rustic ambience). They have outdoor gas fire pits with Adirondack chairs for a wonderful time to chat around the fire. We expected more of a full service restaurant adjacent to the hotel, but it was adequate for a quick breakfast bite. Overall the place was charming and we will come back again. read more

My wife and I booked a room for one night at Moonstone Ranch through an online service. The accommodations were as to be expected consideringing location and price. When we got home, we noticed that the Moonstone Ranch had ALSO billed us for the room. We spoke to the online service that we originally secured the room and rate with, as well as emailed the billing confirmation from MoonRanch. The online service advised us that the Moonstone Ranch is liable to refund us and that they also had forwarded payment to Moonstone Ranch. We contacted the manager of Moonstone Ranch and provided him with the billing statements. It's been 4 months, and no reply or credit has been received by us. If you book with them online, make sure you check your account statement prior to checking out. read more

We loved our stay and thought the property was absolutely beautiful! It was spacious, dog- and family-friendly, relaxing and quiet AND the staff was incredibly accommodating. The front desk clerks we're particularly sweet. My husband and I got married just before the pandemic so we finally decided to do a mini-moon, so when we told them our story they just made us feel so special Breakfast delivery was also delicious! The only reason my husband and I give this a 4-star rating is because of how bare the room was -- 1 roll of toilet paper; only a hand soap bar, body wash and lotion; no in-room drinks (coffee or otherwise); no robes; we had to call for a bottle opener and the staff waited till we opened our bottle of wine because I guess there was only 1? I know these sound like #firstworldproblems (because they are) but when you're paying so much for a stay it would be nice to have, say, some bath soap for the amazing claw foot rub you specifically booked your room for. Still, we definitely plan to come back and stay longer to enjoy the full experience and to ensure a place like this survives the pandemic recession. read more

We wish we could have got some more time to spend at this cute resort. The rooms are very cozy with a fireplace in it. Location wise its the most convenient place I have ever been. Its exactly at Ca-1 highway (still super quiet inside). They have cute beach access where you will be able to see the beautiful Sunset. Also service and staff is cute and prompt. Perfect place for couple and family. Cute little spot.... I'm trying to remain grateful in this moment as I manage my disappointment. I gave up an ocean front cottage for a sliver of an ocean view. They are sweet people but if you come the central coast like I do for some cooler temps and an ocean front experience with nice people. You will get everything BUT the ocean front. Don't be fooled when they tell you it's ocean view, it isn't. AND you are at the very tip of Moonstone Drive where you hear traffic noise on the front and back end. It's cute, but for the price and location, you can definitely do better further down the beach. I'm going to have a good time anyway, oh.... The bed is too soft too... you sink into it. read more

The ranch is a cute hotel, good location to walk across the street and follow the trails. The room we had was small, the small heater took a day to warm up the room and that was leaving the bathroom door closed to minimize the space. They have huge thick comforters on the bed so you stayed warm at night. They supply coffee in the room but no tea. Tried to eat at the cow tipper for dinner but they had a private event. Ate breakfast there, small menu, good food but pricey. And 18% gratuity automatically put on the bill. read more

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly!! The Good: Oceanpoint Ranch is an adorable hotel in a great location. While there is no ocean view from the property, it's the last hotel on the strip and is accessible to everything Cambria has to offer. Hearst Castle, the seals, Moonstone Beach, great shops and restaurants are all so close in proximity. The grounds have a little something for everyone. Lots of grassy areas, roses, a game room, heated pool, putting greens and my favorite was making s'mores around the fire pits. The rooms are nicely decorated and offer a refrigerator and Starbucks coffee at the flick of a switch!! The Bad: What we didn't enjoy was that the rooms had a strange damp, mildewy smell which I guess is par for the course while Southern California has gotten so much rain. The other ding was the 4 days we stayed at this hotel, not one person from housekeeping entered our room. We finally asked a staff member if we could have our room made up and we were told we would have to ask the front desk a day in advance. The Ugly: Our room had a terrible ant infestation!! They marched daily from the sink all the way clear across the room to our trashcan which had empty water bottles and remnants of our in room Starbucks.a little pest control and daily housekeeping might have helped cut back on the problem however regardless of us dumping our trash daily, we still had hundreds of roommates during our stay... read more

This is a nicely renovated property along beautiful Moonstone Drive in Cambria - the rooms are clean but noise is a problem in the front rooms facing Moonstone Drive. Noise is not from traffic but rather from the young children allowed to run a muck around the lot and in the two play areas and indoor arcade. This is a wonderful place for children but when you are paying almost $400 a night to stay parents should be held accountable to watch their children. The night we were there children broke the croquet mallets beating the plastic cows that are supposed to be a fun way to lasso. Within 90 minutes this groups of children had every shuffleboard disc, cue, croquet balls, and croquet hoops all over the green playing area - parents were talking at a firepit. My niece and I went out to enjoy some peaceful toasting but it was anything but peaceful. We went out early the next morning to play shuffleboard and found everything was left just the way it looked the night before. The indoor arcade looked like a tornado had blown through it. We walked the beach and left. Enjoy this beautiful property by securing a room in the back lower end of the property or a cabin. The canteen was lovely for breakfast! read more

What a wonderful place near such a beautiful area near Cambria! Dog friendly, clean rooms and just a quick walk down to the beach. From some rooms you can see and hear the ocean! We come to Oceanpoint ranch a few times a year. We have always had pretty good experiences, but this time I splurged for the corner cabin room as a treat for my husband that has had a stressful year of work. Upon arriving to the hotel the concierge told us that there was a private event that night up top by the office and there would be a wedding on Saturday night. Little did we know the wedding would be right outside our room... literally, right outside! The area outside our room was occupied all weekend with vendors, guests, before the wedding and the night of the wedding was awful. Music was so loud with heavy bass. Bummed that what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend turned into a bad house party. My sea evening bath was disturbed by Nicki Manaj and a loud DJ. Super disappointed!!!!!!!!! read more
