Stayed here for 2 nights recently while exploring the area. The room had a really strong musty smell as soon as you walked in, and some of our clothes smelled even after we left. There were also a lot of brown stains on the carpet. The room was updated nicely. Very small. Bathroom door is literally right at the foot of the bed in the queen room. Unfortunately the curtains in the room were thinner and not blackout, and there were very bright lights outside the door. This made the room extremely light at night, and we had difficulty sleeping. The location was at the very far south end of town, so you did need to walk quite a ways to reach most things. The sidewalk did not extend all the way to this hotel, which made it a bit precarious walking in the street. read more

This is a motel. We love motels - you can park right up against your door or up the stairs to your room. No worries about lobbies or elevators or a ton of people wandering around. It's at the east end of Main Street. We walked to a bunch of stores/restaurants, although at night you'll have a short block where it's pretty dark and there's no sidewalk. We did fine though with a cell phone light. I read a bunch of reviews before choosing this place. I was a little worried about the customer service because of it. But everyone has a different experience so I didn't let that stop us. For sure the lady at the front desk is no nonsense. I saw her the next day cleaning rooms as well so she's very involved and I'm sure has been wronged many times. This is understandable when you work with the general public. We had a great experience. We stayed for three nights and no problems at all. She was very accommodating and friendly. No bad experience. As far as the room: We stayed on the second floor (with a balcony), which overlooked a beautiful stream below and a grassy hill with cows, plus I could hear turkeys. At night you hear frogs croaking, which was so cool. Everything was really clean. Which is the most important. One thing I'd like to note. Since there are only two chairs, one of which is not comfortable to lounge in at all. It's not the most comfortable room to hang out in for long periods of time. There's no couch and coffee table so if you bring food in, you would have to set it on the desk and move the chairs around. I wish there was a more comfortable seating area. Other than that the bed was good. It's a little soft for my taste and my back had a little discomfort but if you like soft beds, it's great. But this room was a great value for the price. And a great location as well. It faces south so you get the morning sun, which is so nice to sit on the patio and drink your coffee. There is a small microwave, a nice size refrigerator, and a Keurig coffee maker with two tegular pods and one decaf. read more

Overall it was great. Stayed here for one night after we went to the Cambria Christmas Market. It was a short 5-minute walk to the shuttle bus to the Market, so the location was perfect. Quiet spot and we slept well. Only 2 suggestions: Please place additional security on the door with either a door chain or a security latch. All the doors have is a deadbolt. Another suggestion is to have housekeeping place the trash can in the bathroom right next to the toilet and not directly underneath the wooden shelf that is in the complete opposite corner from the toilet, and sticks out from the wall and has towels on it. I hit my forehead pretty hard on the shelf when I bent down to throw something away in the trash can that was placed underneath it. read more

"Creekside" is literal, there is a beautiful creek behind the motel. It was a great little place to spend the night. The room was clean and it was well kept. We were driving down the coast and stayed here on a Monday night. The bed was comfortable and the creek and woodsy area behind the motel was pretty cool. You could hear the frogs in the woods and it was amazing to listen to. Plenty of parking and easy access to the room. We had a great stay here. Will stay again when in the area. read more

I booked a Queen-sized room at Creekside Inn for 2 weekend nights via Agoda. I called the inn ahead of time to verify our reservations and had no issues. But they were very clear over the phone that they have a no pet policy and no smoking policy, since Agoda has misrepresented them in the past. The Creekside Inn is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants in town. I arrived early Friday afternoon, hoping I could park the car and check out the town until it was check-in hour. Check in is from 3-4pm; there was no one in the office until 3pm. Their parking lot was mostly empty, but we decided not to risk it and found street parking instead. Check-in is at the small office room on the right end of the building. I had to provide my ID for verification purposes and a credit card they could charge in case of damages. They asked again if we have pets or smoked before giving me two tap-activated room cards. They're pretty serious about no pets or smoking! My hotel room was the first room on the bottom floor nearest to the office. The room was cute and modern! I didn't smell any off odors. Upon walking in, I see two chairs by the window. On the right of the room is a queen-sized bed arranged horizontally against the wall with a nightstand on each side. Each nightstand had a lamp with plenty of outlets and usb ports. The bed was nicely made with 4 white pillows and white cover and sheets. To the left of the room was small flat-screen TV on the wall and a console stand fitted with a small microwave and mini fridge with a keurig on the top of the stand. There were hangers, iron, and hairdryer to the right of the TV stand. And there was a desk on the left of the TV stand. The restroom was at the back of the room with a sliding door. It was stocked with one box of tissue paper, two toilet paper rolls, 1 hand towel, 1 small towel. There were 2 extra face towels and 2 extra body towels on the shelf. There is a lotion + soap dispenser to the left of the mirror. The shower was approximately 3.5ftx3.5ft walk-in style with a sliding curtain. There was also a body wash and shampoo dispenser on the wall. starting with the negatives first... (-) coffee- the complimentary keurig pods were bad tasting... (-) storage- there is no actual closet or storage space or safe (-) hard to sleep in- lots of light in the morning even with the shutters closed (-) thin walls- you can hear people walking or talking, and car doors closing (-) no pets- you will have to go elsewhere if you've got fur babies with you (-) no room service- they only clean rooms by request after 4 days (+) air conditioner- the room would be freezing without the air conditioner (+) restroom- small window and large backlit mirror (+) peaceful- quiet at night, didn't hear people walking upstairs (+) no smoking hotel- room did not have any off-odors (+) overall- a budget friendly stay in a clean remodeled room. And oh, there were no complementary cookies with check-in. But-- if you're craving for cookies, the Red Moose Cookie Co, in Cambria, cookies are to die for! No fuss simple stay. Eat dinner at Madeline's and breakfast/lunch at the Spot !. We stayed here for less than 24 hours. Cambria seems to be the closest town if you're visiting Hearst Castle which is 20 mins away. From there, it's another 40 mins to Paso Robles. The building is an L shape with the check in office at the front near the side walk. Tiny office with a Keurig machine. When you walk in the hotel room, the sink and closet is what you see first. It's outside and separate from the toilet and shower. We stayed downstairs so it's a shower not a bath tub. Not sure if all rooms are showers vice bath tub so keep this in mind if you have little ones and wanted to do bath time or a bubble bath person. Very nice remodeled contemporary room with new carpet. We got a kind bed. There's a balcony with a patio to the back. Very peaceful and serene of greenery where you can hear birds chirping and see wildlife like squirrels. (+) The room has a microwave, mini fridge, desk, two chairs, iron, hair dryer, Keurig. (+) Plenty of lighting. There's a window above the shower and the sliding patio doors have plantation shutters. (+) No shortage of outlets. The two night stand, the desk lamp, below the tv, and along the walls. (+) The key card is a wireless tap method. (+) Given two complimentary cookies at check in from a local bakery. (+) Anti-slip shower mat (+) Ice machine and vending machines are at the corner. (-) No digital clock. The microwave doesn't have the clock function either. (-) No black out curtains just shutters (-) Memory foam bed was soft. I'm petite 118lbs and I was sinking which gave me back pains when I got up so imagine if you're heavier. (-) They reused the sleeves that held the keycards. It had the room and WiFi code on it. Overall, very clean, safe, we didn't hear foot steps from upstairs or snoring. Walls seem thick. It was a 10 min walk to town to Mojo's Village Bean for coffee according to Google. If you walk fast pace then maybe 5 mins so we drove. I would stay here again. read more

Nicely appointed rooms. Staff was friendly. The room I was staying in was on the ground floor. Constant noises above as you could hear heavy footsteps and flushing of a toilet. I wish I could say it was a better evening and stay as it's a cute hotel. But for me I was unable to get some sleep because of the guests above. No staff member at the front desk to contact to amend or check on the situation because they don't have one after 6:30 pm. I wish i could say it was a better experience for me as this is a darling place but it wasn't. read more

The management staff ( who said her name was Samantha) was so rude. Due to a sudden loss in our family we confused our reservations and forgot to cancel understandably due to our circumstances. We tried to explain to the Hotel staff and her exact words were 'Your loss is not my problem'. We understood the hotel cancellation policy but were under duress and tried to explain our circumstance. No sympathy from staff only curt words and rudeness. Ended up staying at Ocean Point Ranch who was so kind to us and even checked in with us to see if we needed anything. I don't usually write reviews, but I know that the reviews that I read when searching for hotels for vacation really helped me to decide where to stay. There was parking right out front of the hotel, even if you couldn't find one in front of your room you still had a view through the window. Parking was free, which was great. The rooms were very clean and nice, it smelled good in there, the water pressure wasn't very good. The air worked really well in the room. The only issue I had was that when it came time to check out, I had to call the hotel to get someone there to help me and then the same lady answered and said she would be right there. She came and the only thing she told me was to leave the keys in the box and then walked away. There was no "thank you for staying" or "have a nice day" It was kind of rude. Thats the reason for only the 4 stars. read more

Headed back home from Hearst Castle, we were looking for a convenient spot in Cambria to spend the night. The Creekside Inn fit our budget... but we were delighted to find the location to be easily accessible to the quaint restaurants and shops... plus our room was recently remodeled and had a charming patio and view of the creek. No complaints about the bedroom itself! It was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. We enjoyed having a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee machine. However, the shower was so messy. The thought of a "walk in shower" sounded luxurious, but ended up being a water frenzy. It's important to consider they don't provide room service, so most of our towels went towards cleaning up the flooding of water after showering and by our second night we were out of towels which we even tried to avoid by reusing them. On another note, we traveled here to celebrate our first year of marriage and half past 9pm we decided to listen to one special song from our wedding in our car to avoid disturbing anyone nextdoor to us , as the walls are extremely thin. Less than 50 seconds into the song, Samantha (the manager) approached our vehicle upset and completely overreacted for us playing music, claiming it was past 10pm (it was 9:30pm) and accused us of not even being guests there as she interrogated us about which room we were staying in. She did not leave the front of our car until we got back to our room. Even at check in, she was not welcoming or friendly whatsoever. 3 stars for the room, 0 stars for Samantha! read more

no customer service!!! reserved a room with king size bed, showed up and my reservation turned into a queen size bed. went to creekside website, king size room was avavailable and i was refused a swap with a " too bad" attitude. lady working the counter was evasive and un empathetic with the situation. very disappointing after booking in advance and driving over 4 hours to a room that wasnt what i booked. not even offered a partial rebate for the inconvenience. was suggested a refund and to go somewhere else on a 4 day thanksgiving weekend. as nice as this motel is. the experience itself ruined any future stays at the creekside inn. read more

To be clear: this is a motel setup, not an inn or boutique hotel. AND the rooms on the backside are great - get one of the Kings on second floor. Just renovated, spacious and nice sliding door to a balcony which gives you a view of trees and green hills. Woke up to cows mooing and roosters. Room has a microwave, mini refrigerator and Keurig. Great location as a base. Near to town, Moonstone Beach and Highway 1. Bonus: ice machine that fit my small filler to fill. Very nice front desk person (S?) made sure I was comfortable. Great value. Staying here put us within walking distance of everything but the beach itself (as it's on Main Street's south end). As a result we were able to fit in all that we wanted to do on our short weekend. The decor is fresh due to the recent renovation. My family enjoyed coming back to a spotless, air-conditioned room after being out on the town. We had a lovely stay. Our room was quite roomy and very clean with modern amenities. Plenty of usb outlets to plug in our multiple devices. Keurig machine with coffee pods which happened to be the variety we use at home, so we enjoyed our morning coffee with the complimentary cookies they provide at checkin. Loved the sounds of the flowing creek, frogs and crickets below our balcony. We would definitely stay again when we plan our next trip out. Oh, and the area was WONDERFUL in every way! From the towns people greeting us as we strolled the neighborhood. To the various restaurants and shops that we visited, people there are just kind and courteous. read more

The rates seemed good and it took a bit to book the room. When I spoke with whomever to confirm the reservation, the subject of my 10 LB service animal came up. The animal is licensed, registered, chipped, trained and travels with a doctors letter and photo ID. This lady was pushy, rude and aggressive. She asked me what the reason for the service animal was, which is not allowed, and told me I had to do paperwork. Fine , the animal has taken 4 international flights with me. I can do paperwork. ... But when I started to mention my reason for needing the dog, she immediately interrupted me and said we don't accept that reason, and wouldn't let me speak. I sure hope no one was in the lobby when she was speaking to me because it was embarrassing for her and I felt ashamed and angry for myself. I was not in a situation where I could discuss my "reason" nor frankly is it this strangers' business to throw down on me as she did. I said..ma'am...I need to get off the phone now because this whole thing has taken me off guard and her response was - should I cancel your reservation..? I sure hope this Woman is the owner of this hotel! Not the tone or attitude one deserves after booking the best room available and calling to confirm. No thanks. read more

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Very clean and quiet, even during the 4th of July holiday. Our room on the second floor had a balcony that overlooked the small creek. Mother deer and her 2 fawns strolled up and down the creek bed and you could hear the frogs "singing" at night. Peaceful surroundings. Samantha at the desk was very friendly and welcoming. Room was very nice and comfortable. Sister made reservations but made a mistake by only reserving a single queen size bed. Host was accommodating and gave us the double Queen size beds. Beds were very soft and clean with 4 large pillows each. We liked the keurig coffee machine because it provides a full cup of coffee per pod. They also provide a tv guide so we didn't have to guess what channel we were on. Our only complaint was with the ac/heating unit there was no manual to explain how it works. Luckily I was able to go on the Internet and look up the model and get the directions on how to run it. It was also very quiet. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. read more

We stayed here for a night a few weeks ago on a trip up the coast, and I was a little nervous about it given the wide array of stars being given, but we paid about a hundred bucks to stay here, and every other available hotel I could find in Cambria for that night was either *universally* badly rated instead of sporadically, or inching up towards $200, so I decided to risk it. If this hotel had been as expensive as other nicer (way more expensive) hotels, I'd be a lot less kind to it, but given we just needed a clean, quiet place to sleep, it gave us that and saved us like 80 bucks, so I'm not going to complain too much. The room definitely felt a bit old, but it was clean enough, checkin and checkout were quick and painless, there's plenty of parking for the number of rooms, the wifi worked great, rooms come with a small perfectly functional fridge and microwave (funny how expensive hotels always nickel-and-dime you, but cheap ones generally throw in everything you need complimentary), and the bed was a little hard, but could've been a lot worse (I've stayed at hotels where the bed was so hard you couldn't sleep well, and this was not that). It's conveniently located to the highway but was still super quiet, and it's right down the street from the best sandwiches in the area, Cafe on Bridge St (also down the street from a great little wine bar, Fermentation, and a couple great coffee shops.) So I'm not going to complain too much - I'd totally stay here again if I were looking for a place to stay in Cambria and the relative prices were the same, and hope we didn't just get lucky last time. read more

This place should be a last resort only. If there's nothing else within 100 miles, then you might stay here. The net value of the entire rooms furnishings barely exceed the nightly room rate. Very tired. The mattresses are so bad you'll be hard-pressed to get a good nights sleep. The TV is terrible. Rest of the furnishings were purchased at a local secondhand store. read more
