Great location, overall good service and good food. When dinner arrived there were a group people that had no sense of manners, yelling & screaming. We called for the manager after we could not hear each other at the table. Other tables requested to move and the table next to us kept looking at us frustrated with the same experience. The manager, we think his name was Douglas, but honestly I could barely hear from the group continuing to yell, told us he was not going to do anything about it. He didn't ask if perhaps we wanted to move until I told him that others left. I've seen toddlers behave better in public than that group. My point is that if you have a group that is disrespectful to everyone around them, as a manager, you should make sure that you have a solution. Move the group or move those that are clearly impacted and telling you. Three tables complained, with us. Our server, Christina, was great. She made up for it by taking us outside for dessert. Not sure if we will be back though. The main course was spent wondering why anyone would make such a scene at such a nice spot, and hoping they would stop, it was so frustrating. read more

The best beachfront restaurant in Broward county! Born and raised in south Florida, I've had some mediocre, over priced food just because of the beach view. This place had great food and a warm ambiance and it's not even completed yet! After reading other reviews, my wife and I started with the crispy Thai shrimp appetizer. I would order it again for sure. The taste was unique and delicious and they actually gave us a good portion of shrimp! For dinner we had the mahi and the crab cakes. Both very well cooked, great flavor and great all around dishes. We opted for no drinks on our first outing but many looked good and we are eager to try them next time we go. For dessert, nothing tickled our fancy on the menu but we had seen others around us get and enjoy the options (namely the key lime cream brûlée). The only real downside was that there is no complimentary bread but they offer a Florida bread basket for $4. I'm of the mindset that unless you are selling some amazing bread, it should be included in the dinner. And if the bread is amazing and worth the price of admission, it needs to sound better on the menu. Other than that, a great place to eat. We will be back soon! read more

Stopped in for dinner at Oceanic and was overwhelmed at how big and beautiful the building was from the outside as I approached. This spot is literally right on the beach. There's a ton of outside seating overlooking the ocean with a giant gorgeous bar with plenty of views. They have valet or street parking, and also a nearby garage so very easy and pleasant. The decorations are rustic modern with no expense spared. The menu is primarily seafood although the hostess mentioned that the steaks are also a favorite among guests. My date and I sat at the outside bar which by the way has HAY Straws! That's right folks no more of those melt in your mouth paper straws we all despise. Game changer. We started with the artichokes. The dish comes with two halves, wished it included more (standard is usually 3-4 halves) but it was delicious. Very light, fresh and lemony. For dinner we shared the beef carpaccio appetizer - amazing!!! So much fennel and delicious fresh flavor. We also had the seared sea scallops which came with four scallops atop a bed of lentils. I was satisfied with the meal but it isn't huge. I'm a big eater so I would probably order something more filling next time. Check this place out! New spot not to be missed. read more

When I rate, I don't just do so on food, but upon my overall dining experience. With Oceanic that's a problem. The food and service I had was all of a solid 4 stars plus, if not 5, but my experience overall was horrifically horrible; just one of the worst I've ever experience in any restaurant. The menu of Oceanic is truly impressive with many innovative as well as unique offerings. For my meal I started with their "Little Gem Caesar" with, at my request, anchovies, and I couldn't have been more delighted. Every section of each leaf of romaine was fully covered with one of the most delightful handcrafted of dressings. I also thought for $10, an easy on the wallet bargain of a price. Then for my entrée I went for their 8 ounce filet mignon to be done Pittsburgh in style with a cool red center. When served it was Pittsburgh style perfection personified. The char was delicious and the cut of meat near prime in quality; a total 5 star. Now for the downsides of dining at Oceanic. First off, it's new, having only just opened. Hence, loaded with those "just opened business bugs" The entire place is just beautiful, but unfortunately I sat in the main inside dining area which was obviously constructed with no regard to acoustics. Though less than 20% occupied the noise level was akin to that of being seated on the winning side of a high school basketball game; near unbearable for conversation or dining pleasure. Then for the worst of incidents, I got stuck in their elevator which jarred me so severely as to knock me off of my footing. Luckily I wasn't injured, just bruised, but then more from being on blood thinners than actual injury. However, as a point of law, you take your victims the way you find them. They may rest easy as I have no intention of legal action. But they may consider this to put them on notice of their reckless operation of a dangerous instrumentality. And worse their callous follow up of failing to even ask how I was or exactly what had happened. Just a mere meaningless insincere and rather insulting "Sorry 'bout that" comment. read more

My boyfriend wanted to come here and since it was on the beach I was happy to go. I have never heard of this restaurant and he has a knack for finding restaurants I've never heard of. We valet parked right in front of the restaurant so that was really convenient. The restaurant is really beautiful. The tables are well spaced out. I like that because it is not crammed together where people can eavesdrop on your conversation. The bar outside looked really nice but we did not actually go out there. The hostesses were very sweet. We ordered the salmon appetizer which was really delicious. It was different from any other salmon appetizer I've ever had. The salmon was high quality. The dill yogurt was very good and was a new twist on the usual cream cheese dip. We both liked this appetizer. We also asked about bread and were brought a huge bread basket. This is not complimentary nor were we told there was a charge. That is fine because the bread was pretty delicious and I really liked the large cheese cracker. It was not listed on the menu. My boyfriend ordered the swordfish. His was a daily special. We were both pleased to hear the fish we were ordering was caught locally. I like when our local fishermen can support restaurants locally and that we get to eat fresh fish. It is a win win. Unfortunately, he hardly any rice with his meal. He really liked the rice but there was nothing much to it. We both agreed the vegetables were nothing special at all. This was something very similar to what I can make in terms of vegetables. He thought the swordfish was okay but nothing out of the ordinary. I ordered blackened grouper. It was a daily special. It comes with some sort of rice and vegetables. I am not a huge fan of rice but this one was pretty good. Our server said I could not substitute anything for it. I could have ordered a side of something else but figured I would just go with what they serve it with. A lot of times that is best anyways. I received my meal took a bite and did not particularly like it. Then, I remembered that I ordered the fish blackened. When the server finally came around I asked her if this is blackened. I assumed it was not because it did not look it at all. She said no it was not blackened. It appeared to be grilled. She agreed that I had ordered it blackened. She did not offer to have it remade. She quickly walked away before I could say anything and said she would be back. A few minutes later I asked a different server to send a manager over. He said okay but nobody came over. I was getting very annoyed and ended up just eating about half the fish. I did not think it was that good and probably would not have thought much better even if it was blackened. Our server did come back. To give us the bill. I was really put off by that. All she said was to have a good night and thanks for dining with us. It is a shame because this restaurant is really beautiful and looks classy but my first impression leaves a lot to be desired. This is not an inexpensive restaurant at all and food should be prepared how a customer requests it. I would recommend double-checking with your server to make sure the kitchen will cook your fish the way you prefer it. read more

When I think of Pompano, I tend to think old, outdated, and boring. Oceanic brought something beautiful, modern, and luxurious right on the water. The space is gigantic, so I'd imagine this is a great venue for showers or rehearsal dinners. The views are lovely. The food was DELICIOUS. The ahi tuna nachos- omg. The mojo shrimp, the crab cakes, and everything I ate were terrific. Now I have food to drive to pompano for. read more

Oceanic on opening night. I approve and recommend. My buddy and I decided to do the calm before the storm thing and try the place out. We didn't know it was opening night, got there 6:30, was not crazy, sat outside at the bar. Warm but gentle sea breeze. Got progressively windier as the night went on. But still quite nice. The place is gorgeous -- super expensive buildout. Our Bartender and server was Kazz. Nice young chap with the glasses in the pics, very attentive, knew how to pour a stiff drink. His first big restaurant job. Bobby's bone dry martini had to be redone because it got too diluted with ice but no big deal. His manhattan was nice; both of my girly drinks were good. We decided not to do appetizers, only mains, and only seafood: New Orleans style Shrimp and Grits, Seared Diver Scallops, Crabcakes. Everything was cooked perfectly, enjoyed everything immensely, but we had some nitpicks, which we brought up with the FOH manager who took it to heart. New Orleans Shrimp and Grits: First of all the grits are perfect, coarser type, perfectly seasoned, nice big lardons of bacon in it, with ideal chewiness and smokiness. Shrimp is big beautiful jumbos cooked perfectly in a New Orleans BBQ-style prep. HOWEVER. As a "New Orleans" dish it was missing any piquantness of cayenne. Not quite enough Worcestershire or black pepper in it either. We had them bring a bottle of tabasco. They brought it quickly. That fixed it, mostly. Scallops: Beautiful day boat scallops. They are cooked on point. Don't know if they were sous vide, could have been. On top of lovely De Puy lentils. Mediterranean style preparation on the lentil salad. Scallops were missing acid, the sauce/butter prep needed lemon badly. We asked them for lemons. They brought them quickly. It fixed it. Crab Cakes: Beautiful big jumbo lump crab cakes with zero binding filler in it, no breadcrumbs. Held together with mayonnaise mixed with a tad of mustard, had brunoise of bell pepper and I think onion in it, accompanied by remoulade. Again, had no cayenne heat in it. TOO MUCH MAYO. Could have done half the mayo and also needed to increase mustard on both the mayo and also the remoulade. They can fix this. I suspect the conservative spicing/seasoning may be due to the fact this is older, wealthier clientele. The only young people in here were the servers. So ok, bring the tabasco bottle, bring the lemons, and halvsies on mayo and boost the mustard and some cayenne. OK dessert. We were steered towards Fat Elvis. You need to order him. Chocolate banana mousse, Dark chocolate ganache, nutter butter crust, and BACON. This dessert is pure evil. Yes, they have a more intense chocolate dessert but definitely get this one. We didn't get to experience dining room service, but I saw the runners flying around like crazy. The place was lit up, very busy by the time we left. The private dining room upstairs is huge; it is a ballroom for medium-sized functions (140 people). The outdoor terrace bar is gorgeous, as is the patio area. This is a destination restaurant that happens to be casual. Serious South Beach vibe. Way better than next door at Beach House Pompano for the money. Grown-up. read more

This restaurant was aesthetically pleasing with a very relaxing yet upscale vibe. Our waitress was very sweet, and even though we went during lunch we mentioned one of the dishes featured on the menu located outside was what we came inside for. We didn't realize that menu was their dinner menu. She kindly told us she would ask the chefs if they would be willing to prepare it for us anyway and they did! I don't remember the name of the dish, but it was a seafood pasta with blistered cherry tomatoes, spinach, zucchini, and a beurre blanc sauce. I wish I had a picture to share. Wow! What an experience. You would never know that they just opened over a month ago. Seamless experience. Really genuine, friendly staff who all seemed to work together so effortlessly. We live here, so we visit a ton of restaurants on the beach.... this is for sure our new favorite. We ordered the Sun-kissed Shrimp appy which was delicious. Followed by the Yellowtail snapper special, blackened, and an amazing salad with beats topped with a spectacular Salmon. Don't believe me? Here are the pics to prove! Oh, we didn't even listen to all of the desert options, this Banana Cream, Chocolate mouse, with bacon crumbles was deadly (should be illegal). I am in town photographing clients from Utah (kristiemontrois.com). My brother (a bartender at another hotel in the city) and his wife suggested we try the Oceanic for brunch. Right off the bat, our experience was a pleasant one. We were guided to the lounge as a waiting area for a table, but in its own right has a comfortable and stunning view of the ocean. We decided to cancel our wait and have brunch in the lounge. Our server, Robert, was jovial and attentive to our needs. He was relaxed and made sure we did not want for anything. The restaurant manager was also attentive. He visited us at least twice to ensure we were well taken care of. The food was incredible. My brother and I ordered a medium rare steak. The steak was prepared so well, we were able to use a butter knife to cut it. The flavor was delicious. My sister in law ordered chicken and waffles. Unfortunately, her bacon was overcooked and not edible. But, otherwise it was delicious. My brother had a small issue with his mojito having a stem and the drink was a little bitter. But, Robert corrected the matter immediately. Our valets, Chris and LaDon, went above and beyond. I was photographing my brother and sister in law after brunch and had left my camera in the car while dining. They went and got my car brought it to me and took it back to the spot. Then as we were leaving, my car was readily available without having to ask. Serious attention to detail. In would definitely return. read more

distaster...and this is painful to write as this was our favourite restarant since they opened many years ago....we are locals....we loved this place...the disappointment today was beyond unacceptable and after finally speaking with the manager just now after leaving several messages, his response? Not an apology, not I'm sorry...just 'thank you for your phone call?". Seriously? I ordered my usual meal without dairy and the server specifically asked do you have a dairy allergy? And I said yes, but was not overly concerned as I order the same thing every single time with never an issue - it's pasta! It arrived with obvious cheese on top and buttered sauce.... and when I asked her she said, well maybe it's just breadcrumbs? Shall I ask the chef? After waiting such a long time for the arrival on a Monday afternoon (not busy!) and absolutely starving...(my fault), I just said no it's ok....big mistake...it obviously had dairy and I left the entire dish...also it was my husband's 75th birthday and I didn't want to embarass or have any issues that day....after arriving with a reserved reservation 2 weeks old with our specific table and server requested as always....and when we arrived we were told, " oh, that table is reserved!". We said "yes we reserved it!". she placed us at a different table against a pillar not under the ceiling fan which we requested....the table we did request? It remained unoccupied for 1 1/2 hours....and the original server we requested did come over and said "oh why am I not with you? I shrugged my shoulders as to not embarrass my husband who already noticed I was not eating my meal....just the very stale bread with an $8 extra fee....so after an almost $200 lunch bill (mine uneaten) our server came over and said, "shall I wrap it up?" . I simply said no thank you - mind you she was very nice but didn't handle this corrrectly...we departed and our original server saw us and looked at us and I simply mouthed "disaster"....nobody came over, nobody cared....we just cancelled Mother's Day...the manager's response (after 2 phone call messages afterwords,) was ridiculous and condescending....I was asking for no recompense...nothing...he just simply didn't care and said after my heartfelt comments, "thank you for you call?". are you serious? not even an apology? After being loyal customers since their inception? Pompano is hot and popular now....go elsewhere....it's such a shame...they're going the same route as Houston's....keep up guys....customer service is everything...I hope you live to be 75 and don't experience what you put us through today.....such a shame.....never again.... read more

This beautiful beach side restaurant gives you all the feels of being on a vacation when you're realistically just a couple minutes from home. The beautiful architecture (done by RWB Linares Architecture in Boca Raton, FL), the considerate placement of turtle lights, the private areas, and the lovely views just all make this restaurant so amazing. Did I mention how amazing the food is as well? It is some of the most amazing seafood I've ever tried. I personally got the ribs, which was absolutely delicious, but of course I had to peck at my family's food to try it all since it all looked delicious. read more

The service at Oceanic was impeccable. Danielle our server was very efficient, smiling and very helpful. The menu had wonderful choices. My husband's whole grilled Yellowtail Snapper was succulent. It could use have used a little more salt even though he never puts extra salt in his food. The are no salt and pepper shakers on the tables. He did request some and Danielle brought them right away . My granddaughters shrimp and grits were good sized and the grits very creamy. My crabcakes were just that...crab and nothing but very little binder. So perfect. Other than feeling like we were at a championship basketball game the evening was wonderful. The noise level was unbearable. Sadly we'll never go back even though we can walk from our apartment to the restaurant. read more

The building itself has quite a unique atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly and warm. There is definitely something for everyone on the menu, I specifically had the beach burger and it was delicious. Wow went on Wednesday afternoon for a ladies lunch. Nice entranceway we were seated immediately but we sat at the outside bar a great view . Our bartender is such a doll, very attentive full of stories plus he had a trainee, ,we started with a drink or two and then we ordered the dinner crabcake duo, which came with arugula salad , the bartender was spot on and said , did you want the lunch appetizer with only one ,but we chose to go with the dinner and it came with a little arugula salad on the side. Plenty of crab not much fillers. The bar started to get busy. We then chose to have the lobster and rock shrimp sliders. Small bit plentiful. A manger did stop by and asked us how things were going . Nice touch. Again Kazz did make it happen with his conversation and tips of what happen around the Pier. We then walked around to see the place very nice , looks like what you would expect on the beach open and airy .
