Interior is cute, quiet and clean. They have karaoke downstairs. The tempura was good, light and fresh. The fried chicken wings - cheese were disappointing. I have ordered this type of chicken wing from other restaurants in the past and it is always a cheese type of powder the coats it. This was cheese melted on top, not even a sauce or powder,, and that does make a difference for the dish as it had no flavor. Was tempted to turn around but I've already reviewed Red Chili and I have to keep up my Yelp status you know. Glad I stayed. Despite its name, the sushi was so-so. Think of this place as a Korean restaurant. Almost all of the patrons were speaking Korean. The beef bibimbop in a stone bowl was great. The stone bowl was unusual in that it was very flat which created a better , I'm not sure what the right word in Korean is, crispy rice layer (what they call soccarrat with paella). This location is giant! I arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday evening to meet a fried. Parking lot and restaurant were pretty empty. We were promptly met by the greeter who let us choose our table. There were maybe two other small tables with people so far. The menus were a little daunting as they had separate Japanese, Korean, and Chinese menus. My friend and I both ordered a Korean dish. I ordered a Yellowtail Scallion roll to split and the Jjam Pong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and my friend ordered the soft tofu stew. While the wooden ladle was a nice decorative touch, I do wish they gave me a regular spoon as well to enjoy some of the broth. My friend just liked the stew okay. A small side of kimchi for the table was served with the meal. While we were dining, a large group was seated in the adjoining room section. We could see an order of Korean style chicken wings come out and they definitely looked and smelled awesome. I know now what to order next time! Overall, clean place and staff attentive and friendly. Yes! I finally got around to trying the newest of the two ocean sushi, restaurants and there was not one thing I can complain about. We arrived on a Friday around 1:30 PM and we're immediately seated. The restaurant is very large and tables are spread so that you can actually hear each other's conversations. The menus are a little confusing because there are so many items to choose from , so I advise to check them out before you arrive. One of our party ordered a lunch special, a sushi box. For $10 the box came with soup as a starter, and in the box, a salad, some dumplings, fresh sushi, a roll, rice and tempura vegetables. this by far was the best deal of the day and I believe it was on special marked down from $15. There are specials on the board as you enter so give them a look over. My husband and I ordered sushi for two. Imagine our surprise when after our miso soup starter, we were presented with a boat the size of the table full of sushi and spicy tuna rolls or was it salmon, regardless it was delicious. There was so much sushi that we had to take some home, not a very big problem to have. We did not have a long wait, but I think it was due to going to the restaurant during a downtime. Service was great and attentive, and the bathroom was clean, which is something I always look for. I will definitely return as the menu is vast and contains Japanese, Korean and Chinese dishes as well. Heck, I could probably eat here every day and always find something new to try. read more

Went for the first time a little before noon for lunch on a Wednesday with a friend. Beautiful and tasteful exterior and interior decor and very clean. Large parking lot. Two sweet and smiling gals greeted us and one took us to our table. After perusing the extensive lunch menu we both decided to get bento boxes. One was pork and the other chicken. They came very full with tempura veggies, wontons, and rice which left enough for another lunch for both of us. Food was flavorful, tender, and delicious. Very reasonably priced, great service, and pretty quiet with only one other patron while we were there. I hope more people go because it is a nice spot and good food with variety of options and I'd like to be able to continue to go here! read more

I've tried the Ocean Sushi in Liverpool and was excited to try their new location on the Blvd. The employees were very kind and quick - they served us dumplings on the house that were so yummy! I got Crazy Roll and Firecracker Roll that were both yummy. The Firecracker came with a little show which was fun. My aunt got the beef bowl and enjoyed. We went to Ocean Sushi 2 it was our first time here, we've never been to their first location in Liverpool. We went around lunch time it wasn't busy yet. The menu was a bit overwhelming but not too bad to navigate. They did have a lunch special but we opted for regular menu. I saw good reviews on Korean fried chicken wings I think it was. I didn't see them on the menu so I asked, I believe it was the owner he said they're revamping their menu was adding it to the menu with two other flavors. They made it for us with soy garlic sauce. We order seven sushi rolls as well. The sushi was good but nothing too expressive just standard, my husband and I both agreed. I didn't care for the spicy crab salad on the cherry blossom roll, it was dry to me. The highlight was the soy garlic wings. They were crispy and flavorful and will definitely order again. They were pricy but flavor and quality made up for it. They brought us a basket of complimentary edamame due to the wait on the sushi rolls. Overall my husband and I agreed we would be back, maybe not order as much sushi rolls lol. I definitely want to try their ramen and bibimbop. read more

I came during their soft opening, because I've been eyeing that "coming soon" sign for so long. The dining room is really huge with multiple rooms. Plenty of room for big groups or events, I imagine. The staff was very attentive. The menu is huge and I probably took a little too long deciding (lol). A ton of different options ranging from sushi to Chinese cuisine. Their special rolls seemed pretty unique from what a lot of other spots in Syracuse serve. I don't remember exactly which ones I ordered, but they were gorgeous and very delicious! The sushi is at a slightly higher price point than some other local spots, but it's done very well. They have soju cocktails on the menu which I didn't try, but would like to eventually! I snuck downstairs to peek at the karaoke suites, because that's the most exciting part of this new spot. There was a bar downstairs and a lot of cute neon lights. They have a few private karaoke rooms that you can rent out and sign in with your friends. Lots of seating, tons of song choices (in multiple languages), cool lighting and LIGHT UP TAMBOURINES that make you feel like a wizard. I came here the other day with some friends who highly recommended Ocean Sushi but I was a bit hesitant because of the buffets that used to be in this establishment. I am a bit of a food snob, and tend to be very leery of eating raw fish in establishments that I haven't gone to before. I walked in to a very different restaurant that I had seen in the past which was a great surprise. We were seated immediately by a very pleasant young lady. Water came to our table in cold thermoses which was really nice. We order 2 bottles of wine and 6 rolls that were all freshly made and absolutely the best sushi I have ever had! The bill came and we thought they had made a mistake. $110 for everything! Of course it didn't occur to us that it was half price sushi night so nice but what a nice surprise! Came again a week later with my sister who was in town visiting and also very particular about the restaurants to patrons. We got the seaweed salad that was perfectly, lightly dressed, and the texture was spot on! We ordered a bottle of wine and several rolls that were again amazing. BTW...the playboy roll comes out and they light the tray on fire right in front of you. Not sure what the purpose was but gave it a little smoky flavor which was so good. The menu is extensive. I have tried sushi at lunch. I gave one more try with Korean noodles and broth. Weather you call it Japanese or Korean cuisine, this place is below the standard. Sushi is Chinese-buffet grade. You can tell tuna is colored. Yellow-tail is just gummy. Korean broth soup is just a hot & spicy broth with MSG. Jajiang noodle is soaky, the seasoning tasted more soy sauce than black bean paste. Also with excessive MSG that it gives you a long aftertaste. I appreciate authentic cuisine. But I am not that picky. The reason I gave this place a second try is because I wanted this new place to be one that I can revisit time to time. Despite all the recent trendiness and popularity nationwide, Syracuse remains the worst city to enjoy Korean and Japanese food. read more

Just had a fabulous dinner at Ocean Sushi. I did not have sushi, but others in the party did and everything was fresh and looked very well prepared. I had a Korean Bebimbop, which was delicious and very satisfying. Staff was very friendly. With such a large party (19) they were a bit slow in getting out the sushi dishes. The meal was served with a Miso soup started and some small sides of yummy kimchis, and ended with an ice cream cup. Unexpected additions, but very nice. Prices were very reasonable. We shared the beef bibimbap & bibim naengmyun (one cold and one hot), followed by the general tso's (super light chicken), & the following rolls: ever popular California & Philadelphia rolls, the Mexican roll, spicy tuna, jalapeño, & a cherry blossom. Everything was tasty but fairly standard for sushi, l'd love to try more of the Korean dishes to see how they stand out. And, 1000%, returning for a Karaoke night! We did karaoke, and the first hour was free, but we were unaware of this and the additional cost afterwards. The waters costed $30 all together, and the karaoke costed $150. We have always loved quality of the ocean sushi on route 57 in Liverpool but living on the east side of town we don't get over there often. I ordered take out over the phone because nothing that we wanted to order was available through their online ordering system. I ordered 3 avocado rolls, 2 sweet potato rolls, an eel cucumber avocado roll, and an Alaska roll. When my spouse went to pick up the order he learned that they made a lobster roll instead of an Alaska roll and charged us for such ($16.99). The eel cucumber avocado roll was "not as good" and 1/3 of the avocado rolls were inedible because the avocado was brown. The sweet potato rolls were fine. I appreciated that they packaged the vegetarian rolls separately from the ones with meat. We will probably give this spot another try (or two) before writing it off. read more

I'm very particular about food quality and taste, and I can confidently say this is the best sushi spot in the greater Upstate NY area. Growing up in Syracuse, I've always searched for sushi that matches the freshness and quality found in NYC and other major cities, and I finally found it here. The cleanliness was impressive, the staff was exceptional, and the food exceeded all our expectations. As food lovers, we were amazed by the freshness of everything. We tried the golden California roll, spicy scallop roll, sweet potato roll, Philadelphia roll, and jalapeño bomb. We also got the scallop nigiri, crab rangoons, beef fried rice, and Korean fried chicken. I know it might sound dramatic to say something is the "best you've ever had," but the fried chicken and the crab rangoons are truly the best we've had and we travel very frequently where we are constantly going out to eat and trying new restaurants. I'll definitely be returning. I considered keeping this gem a secret, but it's too good not to share.
