I went to Ocean State Job Lot in 2004. I recall thinking it was some unemployment agency. After dinner at a restaurant in the area, I stumbled across this location. The best description of an Ocean State Job Lot is what Big Lots used to be like until it started focusing more on furniture and moved away from its core business model. Even though I do not frequent this retailer, I will stop if I am vacationing or on a business assignment and spot one. This location was clean and well stocked with plenty of items I had never seen before, like Kit Kat made by Nestle, which is predominantly seen in Japan and Canada. In the United States, Kit Kat is owned by Hershey, thus the flavor options are limited. So, of course, I purchased some unique flavors; even though I had enough clothes, I kicked up several New Jersey-themed t-shirts in the font style of the TV show Friends, which friends well received.
