She said these scanners pick things up all around them. It happens a lot. So, she said she would credit me. WARNING, do not pay if there is a discrepancy because you will only get a credit that must be used in 30 days. It is their policy not to make right the equipment failure. No "goodwill came my way." Now I'm forced to spend money I don't have and just be grateful I didn't use a debit card to put my checking short. The manager was called and had no empathy, just said sorry, nothing I can do. Most of us shop here because we need to save and hope for a chance to own something we can't afford from stores. Some of TJ MAxx shirts are not much more than what Goodwill charges. Certainly not 39.99. So Goodwill, reconsider your policy and in the very least, get equipment that works for your hardworking clientele.
