The first few bites genuinely tasted like a strawberry shortcake. It would be cool if they could layer a bit of cream in the middle since it's only on the outside, they seem very nice and I will request it the next time I go. Taste aside, I do recommend getting their snow cones in a cup. The bowl makes it a bit harder to eat, but at least it looks pretty!

This is a very traditional snowcone truck. They have pretty much the classic flavors and they also have some that are so-called "natural flavors" which is what I tried. I got half lime-half mango. Honestly, it's still pretty much tasted like the sugary syrup that most snowcones are made with. But I guess this syrup didn't have any artificial coloring or flavoring which is why they called it "natural." I would definitely recommend getting a large because it's worth it for the size. The color changing spoons they give you are also fun.

Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5…read moreAmbiance: 2/5 Overall: 4.2 My group got the fresh fruit shaved ice with strawberry ice cream and coconut pudding. The shaved ice itself was really nice and fluffy, with the condensed milk topping being VERY sweet yet not overpowering. The fruit toppings we got, for the most part, were good. The pineapple and cantaloupe were both okay, though I think they both could've been fresher, but the strawberry and mango were both really good and complemented the shaved ice. I also really enjoyed the strawberry ice cream on top. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it added another dimension to the dish. The coconut pudding, though, was quite disappointing, not tasting like much and overall just feeling like a random and unnecessary addition to the otherwise really good dessert. The ambiance here was the main issue. It is a little bit barebones and not very decorated, but that didn't bother me. What did though was the piercing high pitched noise of the electronics, which made it really hard for me to focus, and the flashing lights, which just made me feel really disoriented. Still, this place is a hidden gem in the Dun Huang Plaza compared to everything else around it, and is definitely worth a try!

Pretty much anything you'll need to complete a dish. The produce section may not be big, but it's satisfactory. On some occasions they'll have weekend pop-ups with tastings. The employees are helpful, and the store itself is clean. Something to be aware of, the line to checkout can be very long and hectic. Especially on weekends and during peak hours. They still have a great selection of seafood, and I was also impressed by the variety of Japanese snacks. Since it was a weekday, the store was pretty quiet. There were also several promotional items near the front, and I was able to pick up a few candies at a good price. With tariffs and rising prices these days, everything seems to be getting more expensive, so I was especially happy to find a couple of good deals. I'd definitely swing by again if I'm in the area.

It's always soooo dirty whenever we come. We brought family and it was just so gross. Everyone was using some spray cleaner we found on the counter to clean their own tables, and sometimes I don't want to be doing that when I come get dessert. Why are we cleaning and scrubbing down our seats before we sit??? Please Nu owners if you're reading this- I don't want the tables to be sticky anymore your desserts are so good but it's getting to the point where I want to go somewhere else because the inside is just sooooo dirty. Please!!! Maybe just start using disposable bowls for your dine in desserts as well? It's cleaner, and we don't have to stack dirty plates in a tub over the trash can. It still has that "hole in the wall" vibe, and it's a pretty small footprint though they somehow pack a ton of 2 seaters and 4 seater tables in there so there's actually a decent amount of seats. Lots of takeout business too. Now I hadn't been in a while, and for my recent visit, they had installed large electronic kiosks so you can order and pay without any human interaction. They also bring your food to you (I remember going to a counter to pick it up). Star Snow has gotten fancy! And the prices have definitely gone up but it's still relatively affordable. Now, you're probably thinking "blah blah blah what about the actual food?" Well, it's great. Delicious. The beef noodle soup is one of best you'll ever have (comparable to Noodle Kitchen in Spring, TX and Shang's in Las Vegas), and the fried tofu appetizer is spectacular. Warning: it comes out HOT so give it a minute unless you enjoy burning the inside of your mouth. I loved every bite of both dishes and I would order them again. And again. And again. So what are the downsides? Again, if you're a HOG, you know - it's the Dun Huang center parking. So packed. The center has so much good food and drink options. Just bite the bullet and head towards the garage and park on the roof. That's what I did because I had no choice on a Saturday for lunch. And once you're done, don't head back towards Bellaire (it will take you 10 min just to leave the lot). Sneak out onto the Beltway feeder. That's my pro tip for ya. Lastly, I'm not sure exactly how long this location has been open, but I know it's at least 18 years based on the oldest Yelp Review. When a restaurant survives for that long in the Dun Huang center, you know it's legit.
