Came here for King Salmon and Seabass. Both tasted amazing. Used the Seabass for my ceviche.

How great is this place? It's the kind of place so special you don't want to ruin it by writing a Yelp review that causes everyone to stop buying the cruddy fish they sell at grocery stores and come here instead, causing you to wait in a long line only to find out that they're sold out of that local sea bass that you love. Fortunately, practically no one reads my stupid reviews so that's not something I even have to worry about. So I'm gonna just go ahead and tell you about this this wonderful fish shop. LOL! First off, let's talk about quality. The fish here is as fresh as it gets. Like straight off the boat fresh. They sell lots of locally caught fish, but they also have fish from far away. But whatever you choose it's always hella fresh. High quality fish like this isn't exactly inexpensive. Depending on what you are buying, it can get a little pricey up in here. But considering the freshness of the fish, that's to be expected. To help you stick to your budget, every Tuesday Ocean Pride takes $2 off everything in the case. And there's more than fish in the case. They also offer shrimp (omg that shrimp is good!) and scallops (the big meaty kind), as well as clams and mussels. Next to the case they have a huge saltwater tank with live lobsters. When I was a little kid, I was scared to death of lobsters. I was afraid they'd pinch my toes. That's why I never owned a pair of sandals when I was growing up. Now lobsters are scared of me. They always cower like little bitches in the corner of the tank when I walk in the store. Yeah, you better hide! Ocean Pride has a very nice selection of grocery items you might need to prepare your fish, including Ponzu sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, unagi sushi sauce, mirin, tonkatsu sauce, furikake, sesame seeds, pickled ginger and even salad dressing. They also sell tempura batter mix, as well as tea. They sell medium grain rice, too. I always buy my rice here. If you have a dog, you can buy your pup some nice salmon skin treats here too. Woof! Now, on top off all this, the customer service here is top notch. If you don't know what kind of fish to buy, or how to cook your purchase, don't worry. The man behind the counter will help you out. Just ask! His advice never fails. Ocean Pride has a loyalty program for repeat customers. You get your card punched every time you visit. I can't tell you what you get when your card is complete because I am constantly losing my damn card. I mean, I have been a customer here for over ten years and I've never managed to hold on to a damn card long enough to find out what the reward is. Another sweet thing about this place is they have a weekly email newsletter. You definitely want to sign up for the newsletter! Every week they highlight a different fish and share a couple recipes for it. Oh yeah, I should point out that they offer curbside service if you need that. And with a minimum purchase, they deliver, too ($50 minimum order for Oxnard and Ventura residents, $100 min order for those that live in Ojai and Camarillo). Mikey C says: I highly recommend Ocean Pride!

It was great until I found worms in my recent ahi. Fuggggg NO. I thought I found an alternative seafood spot for when my favorite place a few miles away was out of ahi...

I'd been doing Instacart orders from them but first time physically inside this weekend to check them out. The inside was super super clean. Major points there! In the time I was shopping around they had plenty of staff working, floors being mopped and all of the aisles were well organized and pretty. This market is a pretty standard Asian goods focused grocery store. I found about 85% of what I wanted here. I wish they had a premium sushi section and some more Hawaiian imported goods (aside from juices and sauces) but otherwise I was able to find everything I was looking for. Their hot bar is also solid. A wide selection of items to pick and I felt the pricing was reasonable. Actually throughout the whole store the prices are good compared to other grocery stores right now. I had a full bag of items for $50, good luck elsewhere getting those kinds of prices. I didn't have too much of an interaction with the staff while there, but again, lots of people working and keeping this spot in tip top shape. Also the woman working the register who checked me out was very nice. A great supermarket and I'll definitely be back more often now since checking them out.

My friend and I arrived at 8pm, checked into the event with a free ticket she downloaded from another app (I unfortunately for got the name of the app). It was pretty busy already with folks enjoying the DJ's tunes, filipino food and overall vibes. I bought the traditional Halo halo dessert (see my pic) and it was decent. Through out the night there was free gifts, contests and lots of dancing. Overall fun family event to enjoy. Seafood City is located in a strip mall. Lots of free parking. I occasionally shop here for speciality asian items that I couldn't find at Island Pacific. Prices are a bit steeper here. Service is decent here, for both the food court and supermarket.

The fish was FRESH. Perfectly crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. Also got burgers for the kids and hush puppies. The kids burgers were cooked nicely, not dry. For over 25 years, this spot has remained a "go to" in the community, and we love seeing these old school treasures continue to thrive. From the moment you walk in, you get those nostalgic, old-school vibes. Loved all of the decor and pictures of fisherman throughout the place. The service here was awesome. Super friendly and welcoming, and the gentleman at the register gave great recommendations. He knew the menu well and was able to help me out with some suggestions. Honestly, the menu is so extensive it was hard to choose, but here's what I went with: Fish & Chips (2 piece plate): 5/5. The batter was light yet perfectly crispy, not overly heavy, and the fish itself was fresh, flaky, and high quality. Paired with a solid tartar sauce, this is a must order dish. The French fries were classic and I loved their coleslaw. Grilled Thresher Shark Plate: 4.5/5. This one was a standout for me given how hard it is to find shark on menus nowadays. I actually grew up eating shark, so this felt super nostalgic. The staff highly recommended it, and I'm so glad I listened. The grilled shark was mild, tender, and full of flavor thanks to their delicious balsamic glaze marinade. If you've ever been curious about trying shark, this is the place to do it. I'll be back again for this soon. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying and the best part? It doesn't break the bank. Prices were reasonable and portions were generous. Definitely check them out if you haven't already, a great old school restaurant in Oxnard.

GETTING HERE:…read more Ventura Crab N Spice is located a few doors down from The Habit on Telephone in Ventura. The footprint is the Winco shopping center. REVIEW: First timer here (what.) and it was so good! Quiet, not too busy on the day we went (during the week). I remember in my baby years of Yelp I used to note that a restaurant was "good" if it was busy. Post-shutdown and currently 2026, it's OK to me if it's ghost town inside. :) We ordered the Clam Chowder Bowl and Sweet Potato Fries. GREAT! The chowder had nice flavor and was thick, and the clam pieces were tasty. The bread was warm and soft, so full of flavor. Service was good. Love the vibe inside, too. Love the decor and the entire vibe. As much as I love seafood, I can't wait to go back to try their other menu items. Thank you for a great meal. Highly recommend!

There was no wait, and we stood there for about 10 minutes without being helped. Finally, a waitress came over around 8:05 PM and told us they were closed at 8 and couldn't seat us. That doesn't make sense--if you close at 8, you should still be seating guests before that time, especially when they've been waiting and there's no line. The lack of communication and basic customer service was frustrating and unprofessional. It wasn't about the timing it was about how it was handled. Standing there with no acknowledgment and then being turned away last minute is just bad service. Definitely not the experience we expected.

Once arrived we were greeted right away by the owner and staff and was seated right away. Luckily the restaurant wasn't that busy yet. Right of the bat service from Samantha P was fantastic and very friendly. As for the food we ordered 3 different appetizer and 2 main seafood dishes to share. Appetizers: Aquachiles- They were freshly made that morning and the was fantastic. Clam Strips- They were fresh and nicely battered. Portions were on the small side. Delaware Bay Oysters- Fantastic and so fresh. Very clean tasting. For the main dishes we ordered: 5oz Blackened Red Snapper- The snapper was grilled perfect. It was flaky and moist. 4pc Alaskan Cod Fish & Chips- I ordered it half Beer Battered and half Panko Fried. The panko came out dry but had a better crispness to it. The beer battered is the way to go. The fish was moist and flaky and the batter was nice and light as well. Plus the chips ( Fries) where amazing. I believe they were double fried. It was crispy on the outer layer and creamy inside. All in all we did enjoyed our Mother's Day lunch at Fisherman's Catch. Until our next visit.
