Elise is just a wonderful person and made the trip special. She makes a breakfast out of this world and the inn has some great animal life. A few bobcats and she has nursed some wildlife back to health. Walk to the rural more private beach is less than ten minutes. We will most certainly be back!

Aquinnah is far from the other towns (30 min drive) so plan accordingly. The liquor stores do deliver with enough advance notice, and there are a few restaurants not so far away, but you are out in the country. Love sitting in the hot tub at night watching the stars. This is an old house so you might hear noise from other rooms or when breakfast gets going, but I travel with earplugs & a mask so not a thing for me. Elise is welcoming & has tips for everything you can think of. Free wifi, amazing water & sunset views (except from the downstairs stone-wall room) and blissful calm. There is no AC but mostly it's not needed, and mini fridges in many rooms, bring a small cooler for a day at the beach, a beach towel, good walking shoes, and de-com-press.

However, if you are still exploring the island after check out, you can leave your luggage at the inn. There is unfortunately no parking included, but there is street parking outside the inn.

We knew that being in town would involve some evening noise. We could hear the music and yelling and partying from the nearby bar from both bedrooms (windows closed and air conditioning on). The room with the twin beds also had a loud generator like noise go off a few times throughout the night (noise sounded like it was coming from unit next door or below and it literally vibrated the walls. While all the local bar noises quieted down once everything closed for the night...we were woken up pretty early the next morning by presumably the same bar emptying their glass bottles (very large quantity) at around 630am the next morning. Quality of sleep in this particular cottage was poor. Other than that, we were very pleased with the accommodations and appreciated its central location to the shops, restaurants and ferry.

The kitchen is well-equipped, the new gardens and potted plants add much to the grounds and the external environment of the Inn. Cuttyhunk is a fabulous place to get away from life's distractions and enjoy the natural world - there in abundance! Turn off your phone (cell service is sketchy there at best), leave your email habit behind and spend a relaxing vacation soaking in the unique New England small Island culture; it is good for your spirit! It had a very comfortable living area and dining area as well as a gas firepit and plenty of seating outside. There were also places to safely store our bikes. Rooms are spacious, very pretty, and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The in-room wine refrigerator got plenty of use. The owner of the inn was very knowledgable and helpful, and also an accomplished woman and great conversationalist. We would definitely return to the Carlise.

It's very old and creaky, so I would definitely recommend a room on the top floor, although the stairs are tight so getting luggage up is tricky. The breakfast was a nice touch. Keurig coffee all-day. Cookies at night. Service was friendly and attentive. My one BIG complaint is the lack of blackout curtains. It was painful to be woken up with the sun every morning. They should offer masks, if they aren't going to add these.

After…read moresome research this was the place I knew I needed to start my vacation , and it was fantastic... We choose to stay in an AIRSTREAM, yes an Airstream! For some reason this seemed fun and it was more than fun... We pulled into the AutoCamp and it's really a really nice property. You'll park your vehicle in a lot and then check in at the lodge. The staff gave us our keys and a map to our airstream. Also filled us in on the entertainment and goings on at facility's. We loaded are gear onto the carts provided so we can move our gear around... Found our camper with ease. Outside our Airstream was table and fire pit should we have wanted to enjoy an evening fireside moment.. Wood was available for sale at the lodge. Inside was a queen sized bed with small tv for viewing. Our shower was great, I mean you're in an airstream yet it was hot and kinda powerful. Now it's summer time so you're gonna need AC or you'll broil in this thing. Yes on the AC and this blew cold air like an attic storm.. My thoughts are you could literally live in one of these if needed should the zombie apocalypse happen. Now the AutoCamp has some other ways to enjoy your trip. You can have a cabin / trailer or for a person whom enjoys a TENT Experience well they have that as well.. Can't say enough positive things about The AutoCamp cause we had a blast. Also note it's super close to the ferry docks so you can travel to Martha's Vineyard for the day. Will come back for another experience I guarantee it...

The bed is definitely not a king and the bathrooms could use hooks to hang up items. Could hang TV's on the wall and update so guests could stream their own subscriptions. I would give it a C+ overall but just a few changes could upgrade it as location is perfect.
