Martha's Vineyard, MA (as Amity Island)…read more When I hear of Martha's Vineyard I only know to associate it to Presidential vacations and retreats but there's so much more charm to it and I want to go back! Edgartown was the first town we visited at Martha's Vineyard. Located on the eastern side of the Island, Edgartown is a quiet, lovely village with a deep history of its New England whaling past... we enjoyed some shopping at local souvenir shops. We had lunch at the Seafood Shanty and stopped by the Ice Cream and Candy Bazaar for some ice cream and chocolates. This is the town where they filmed some of the scenes from Steven Spielberg's 1975 blockbuster "Jaws." The original sign used for Amity National Bank was displayed inside the Edgartown Nat'l Bank. We hopped on the VTA Bus #5 that took us to the Town of Aquinnah. It is the least populous town on the island. Here we were able to view the the multicolored clay cliffs of the Gay Head Cliffs and its surroundings including the Gay Head Lighthouse. That lighthouse was featured in Jaws too. Lastly, we got off the VTA Bus #13 at the Town of Oak Bluffs located at the northeastern shore of the island. This town is contrast to the old world charm of Edgartown and the vast fields at Aquinnah. Oak Bluffs is a vibrant and happening town. We saw the the Flying Horses Carousel but we totally missed the Gingerbread Houses! ... now I want to go back to MV again and see those pastel-colored cottages. Btw, there are no actual vineyards on Martha's Vineyard and the island is only accessible from the mainland via ferry. Review #3034

We rented a luxury home for a significant price. We were locked out of our home with my toddler after bedtime because they gave us the incorrect key and not offered so much as an email apology let alone compensation. Further, they had poor communication post-rental and it overall left us quite disappointed. We won't plan to rent from them in the future based on this experience.

The location is ideal and nicely located in the island. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly and is maintained neatly. The staff here is super friendly. Their response time to any service request is pretty quick too. They had fun events over the weekend. They had a DJ party on one day which was so cool and fun! The common area is so nicely decorated with string lights giving it a cozy feeling. They also have community fire pit, so a fun way to interact with the other campers!

Also, the trash not picked when said it was Tuesday. It looked like 2 weeks worth of it!!! It would have be better for no realtor at all. No help!! Our family has stayed here many times over the years, but after this recent interaction, we won't be coming back. We booked a stay for next year, received a confirmation email, and had a deposit withdrawn from our account -- only to have the deposit refunded days later without any communication whatsoever. When I called to find out what happened, Julia told me there was a "website issue" and that we never should've been able to book because next year's rates haven't been set yet. This directly contradicted the confirmation email, which clearly stated our rate was locked in. When I asked if they could honor the confirmed rate -- a basic standard in most reputable businesses -- Julia became defensive and irate. She told me, verbatim, that if I thought she was a terrible business owner, I probably shouldn't stay there. She was rude, condescending, and completely dismissive. Julia may claim the business has "integrity" and a long history on the island, but it's clear the current management does not reflect those values. This place might have had a good reputation in the past, but it's absolutely not the same under her leadership. A hospitality business with no regard for basic courtesy or professionalism is one to steer clear of.

Above all I have to say, the management was the best part! You can stay at a place that has everything you need and more, but if the people running it aren't accommodating or lack communication, you'd never want to go there again! If you are looking to just chill in the beautifully landscaped yard and read, or enjoy a nice meal on the BBQ, this property is great for that too. The owner, Platt, and caretaker, Timothy, were both wonderful. The whole rental process is very well organized, not a detail is left out in house manual, and communication with a Platt and Tim is easy and prompt. My family and I had a lovely time staying in the West Wing and would definitely rent again and recommend to others. Maybe we'll try the East Wing next time in order to enjoy those great porches!

We booked property #718 located at 60 Old Purchase Rd almost nine months ago. We are a young family of 5, three children six years and younger, that has to put in a lot of time for planning and frankly saving for a trip like this. When we arrived we knew we were in for a long week ahead. The house was a complete beat up, run down, tired mess. We arrived to a house with no hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels, useable pillows, mixing bowls, Saran Wrap/tin foil/ziploc bags, trash bags, cutting boards, missing furniture, do I dare continue? We let the broker Paula know how upset we were and frankly there was no sympathy nor help offered. Someone dropped off two pillows, but that's where the help ended. We notified the company of a towel rack ripped off the wall and that wasn't rectified either. We were supposed to be at the house to have the caretaker access and fix the damage, but we hated the house so much we were out the door at 10AM and didn't dare come home before 5PM. We weren't going to be coordinating someone to fix damage we didn't do during our vacation. At the end of the day, all we needed was somewhere comfortable to put our feet up or a good night's sleep, but that wasn't even possible with the conditions of the mattresses and the couch and chairs. We love the beauty of this island that we have been visiting for nearly 7 years, but this last trip might be the last for a while.

I booked a Katama beach rental house through them that was…read morefalsely advertised online -- condition was very rundown and it had a pretty gross bug problem. I needed to spend several hours of our family's summer vacation cleaning the house myself. When we sent through photos/videos of the condition to our Sandpiper rental agent Judy Murray, she agreed that it was unacceptable and that we should look for alternate accommodations, even offering to help. Judy confirmed in writing that "the owner would refund our money." Therefore, we booked last-minute accommodations for the back half of our stay and moved out of the house. Afterwards, we were refunded for 15% of our stay with no explanation. Then, they went radio silent on us. Judy was totally pleasant to us throughout the process, but in the end, she didn't keep her word and didn't take accountability. DO NOT USE SANDPIPER and definitely do not book 19 Navy Way in Edgartown.
