Highly recommend! A very cute and cozy inn right at the center of town. A great location super close to restaurants, stores and coffee shops. Nearby are great restaurant like Backyard BBQ, Stubby's, The Corner Table Cafe and Stop&Shop. Also very close to the Steamship Authority port; less than a five minute walk. The inn itself is charming and beautifully decorated. The owner, Ian, is so sweet and helpful. Check in is at 3 pm and check out is at 11 am. However, if you are still exploring the island after check out, you can leave your luggage at the inn. There is unfortunately no parking included, but there is street parking outside the inn. read more

I've never been to Nantucket so my husband and I planned a short trip after Christmas, I looked for a place to stay and this was the first and only place I looked at, It was calling me so I booked. Aside from not getting the room I requested, it was all I hoped for. The room I did get suited me better anyway as it was nestled in a cozy corner on the second floor. This place has eclectic décor, lots of nooks to hide away and it was so warm and inviting. The location is top notch. I did not have a car and I was able to walk to everything that I wanted to do. I was a bit bummed that so many places were closed and food and shopping was hard to find (I wish businesses updated their web pages better) but, I did find plenty to do. it was relaxing, beautiful and quiet. Jenifer was so helpful and had lots of suggestions. I would love to come back again and if I do, this is my first choice. Thank you for a great comfortable stay. read more

My son Martin and I made a spontaneous trip to Nantucket Island to see if we could find barn owls. We are wildlife photographers and barn owls can be hard to find on the Massachusetts mainland. I booked the Chestnut House because it wasn't that expensive and they had someone nice and helpful answering the phone. I couldn't believe how wonderful the place was when we got there. Absolutely charming and clean and at the top of the stairs was a hand made owl rug made by the owner's father which was a sign to me that we were going to be successful. We stayed in room 5. The first couple of shots are from our room but I ended up having a conversation with the owner and she let me look around at the other rooms and told me the story behind the house and all the art. It turns out that her father and mother met at art school and they created almost all the art that's on the walls, the handmade rugs and her brother created much of the stained glass pieces. Also they were super covid-19 conscious at the hotel and for themselves as well so that made me feel infinitely better staying there. Also the owner had all sorts of knowledge of birds and where to find them and Martin fell in love with all the gorgeous animal sculptures and carved decoys around the home. Whenever we go back, we will be staying there. read more

The first floor reeked of cat urine. That unmistakable smell assaulted my nostrils the instant we entered. We were told that while a cat does reside on the premises, it is "not allowed in the guest quarters." Perhaps the guests are also peeing on the floors because the acrid odor was there as well. We arrived at 3pm to check in, and waited over an hour because the suite was not ready. Word to the wise... avoid Suite #5 like the plague!!! Bed was unbelievably uncomfortable... mushy, squeaky and unsupportive. The sofa bed was just abysmal. My daughter reported that it "felt like sleeping on a sheet thrown over a pile of metal rods" and one end was perceptibly lower than the other. Absolutely unacceptable for a guest house charging upper tier rates! Due to the age of the structure and inconsiderate guests in the suite next door, we were subjected to near constant door slamming that sounded like gunshot. Suite itself was minuscule, and we also did NOT receive the suite we had chosen online. Since it is NOT a bed and breakfast, at the very least, a coffeepot and microwave in the suite would have been greatly appreciated. It did have a mini fridge though... YAY?!? The bathroom had a loud, grinding exhaust fan/light combo which was absolutely useless in venting any moisture. The TV was on a table NEXT TO the couch, which makes for a very awkward viewing angle if you plan to watch tv. The ONLY positive aspect of this property was the superb location within the historic district... walking distance to great dining and historic sights, biking distance to many other sights of interest. However, to discover many of the Nantucket's hidden jewels, renting a Jeep is critical. Thankfully, there is so much to discover on this majestic isle that we spent relatively little time in the suite. However, will definitely stay elsewhere the next time we visit. read more

The good... This is a charming inn near downtown and the ferries. The rooms are a nice size and have their own bathrooms. Lots of cool artwork throughout the building. Lovely woodwork. Comfy bed. The maid was friendly and cheerful. The price is Nantucket-reasonable. The so-so... The small courtyard would have been a nice place to sit if only the lawn had been mowed and the cigarette butts cleaned up. The young man who answered the door seemed to be bothered by our presence. Not friendly nor helpful. The bad... Very loud business nearby that stayed loud until 2am. A mystery screen door that kept slamming in the wind all night long. No breakfast or coffee in the morning. Will we return? Quite likely. The price makes up for the rest and it was comfy and convenient. read more

This is such a charming little inn. We were greeted by a kind young gentleman who runs the inn. Our room had a king bed in the bedroom, a separate living space with a couch and tv and a private bathroom. It was super clean and really well maintained. They allow children, which is great and they were kind enough to provide a pack n play for our 10 month old. It is located in the heart of downtown and is within walking distance to everything. Breakfast is not an option here but we were made well aware of it and we were given discount vouchers to other places in the area. For the price and location of this little gem, we will most definitely be back! read more

Nice simple house right next to downtown and steamboat! Rooms have there own bathrooms. When we were here they were doing work to the exterior making it impossible to relax. No breakfast/coffee included. Maybe that's why we received a discounted rate? However they didn't explain that to us at all when I made the reservation. read more

We loved, loved,loved the Chestnut House! We stayed in the separate cottage, The Willow, which was adorable. Very clean, eclectic furniture and local art. The king size bed was wonderful after a full day on the beautiful island. We had a full sized kitchen but only used it for coffee in the morning because we were given daily coupons to surrounding cafes to use which more than covered our cost. We walked from the ferry on arrival and being late, 7PM, were made feel more than welcome by the young man that answered the bell. Very convenient to the visitors center, town and restaurants. The Chestnut House is a relaxed, casual, friendly B&B to stay in. The prices were reasonable, the room was nice and clean, the bed was comfy, they had free beach towels and a blanket for us to use, and we loved the kitty pictures. Also, Jennifer was wonderful! A lovely and welcoming place. We arrived by bike before checkin and were able to leave our bikes and bags so that we could visit the island. We were notified when our room was ready (early) and then offered towels and blankets for our visit to the beach. There are other wonderful amenities offered for those checking out but not departing immediately. Our room was very nice, and offered every amenity we needed. read more
