Room is clean and cool (it's July), and the bed is very comfortable. Also, Gail is super nice - highly recommended!

Giving 4 vs 5 stars because I Wish there was some wiggle room in the 30 day cancellation policy. We happened to be on island during a huge rainstorm and the forecast was bad when we took the ferry over and went to worse after we arrived and there were no ferries leaving with wind gusts at 40-50 mph. We would have preferred to postpone our trip but would have lost a significant amount of money. We tried to make the best of it but we were quite miserable and drenched much of the time. I would stay here again.

Immediately called the Hotel and Hotels Tonight to cancel the reservation, impossible to get anyone on the phone at the front desk to answer (you can only reach the reservation line which is off site), finally got a text from the manager Kara the day of the check in asking what time I was planning to check in. When I informed Kara that I was not coming to Nantucket that weekend she agreed to cancel my reservation but not refund my money back to me. I called Hotel's tonight and they agreed to the refund only to find out that the hotel refused to refund the money back. I called Kara back and she said she refused to refund the money back to Hotels tonight and said "we are a small business and we need to make our money", after arguing for hours back and forth with her she then told me I needed to speak to her General Manager Alicia Hehir. I called her multiple times and she refused to call me back. Finally I had American Express Centurion call them to dispute the charge and they agreed. This hotel lacks compassion for their guests and needs to be run much better. Their management is not responsive to their hotel guests and lacks sympathy for people who have Covid.

The staff from the maitre d who has been there for ever to the bartenders and servers, all top notch and friendly. I've dined with reservations for more of the fine dining feel, but also have casually rolled up to the bar and enjoyed the more relaxed vibe, but still great food. Again, Nantucket is expensive, but I find that the meal, service and ambiance warrants the price for a fun and memorable night out. Enjoy the walk back into town and soak in the fresh air!

The rate was spectacular, and the inn was even better, but the restaurant and bar is to die for! 5-star. Where to start? The staff is excellent, professional, exceptionally pleasant, and very accommodating. Our room was huge! Clean. Well stocked. Nice clean bathroom. We had tea in the common room in the afternoon; able to chat with other visitors - relaxing and quite pleasant. The restaurant was to die for. We made our reservation on Resy a week before. Everything was just incredible, starting with a mussel appetizer, cod and polenta/spinach dish, to the chocolate soufflé. The next morning we crossed the street to attend services at Saint Paul's Episcopal. Came back for a quick breakfast down stairs; the coffee was top-shelf, eggs perfectly made, and fresh fruit - can't beat any of that. We left our bag at the Inn, and went in town to shop, sip coffee, and take it all in. Picked up our bag and dropped it off at the Hyline building. Had lunch with local friends at Brant Point. The day, hotel, dinner, church, and lunch was all serendipitous. No negatives. Ship's Inn is one of the absolute best and well known inn and restaurant on the island.

Cute inn, great location! Must be able to go up lots of stairs to stay here…read more We enjoyed our stay at the inn and the fact that we chose a king room with our own spacious bathroom. It's very old and creaky, so I would definitely recommend a room on the top floor, although the stairs are tight so getting luggage up is tricky. The breakfast was a nice touch. Keurig coffee all-day. Cookies at night. Service was friendly and attentive. My one BIG complaint is the lack of blackout curtains. It was painful to be woken up with the sun every morning. They should offer masks, if they aren't going to add these.

My husband and I stayed at Carlisle House last month on a 25th anniversary vacation. We booked our…read moretrip 5 weeks in advance and were surprised by the cost ($759/night) considering it was mid-week and no longer high-season (it was late September). Before booking, I did call to speak with the owner about the price and was assured that the rate was correct and unchangeable for that time of year. As we had already taken time off, we could not adjust the dates of our trip so we went ahead with the stay. The inn itself is fine and the support staff were lovely but my caution is about the pricing policy. The owner was out of the country during our stay so I waited until she returned to address this issue with her by email. I was then told that "rates are based on demand", "pricing is dynamic" and "we cannot make adjustments to pricing after a stay". On our arrival and during our stay, only 2 of the 13 rooms were booked (so much for "demand"). On our final night there, 3 more rooms became occupied, 2 of them close to 11pm during what the inn calls "quiet hours" (very noisy in a 250+ year old house), but checking the website that night, we could see that rooms just like ours had dropped over $200 in price (however, not for us). By 3 days after our stay the room was $324/night and within 2 weeks it listed for just $249/night (less than 1/3 of our cost). The inn was fine but not what I would have expected for $759/night. The continental breakfast is similar to what you might get in a chain hotel, pre-packaged as I learned when I had an allergen-related question. We've traveled many, many times for our anniversary...... sometimes arriving to chocolates and a card, a small vase of flowers, or even a small bottle of champagne with 2 flutes. This was the first time there has been no acknowledgement and for our 25th anniversary, no less (and yes, the owner was aware).

There were a couple seating arrangements outside, one which was a deck sitting area off the lower level and the other was a sitting garden/green space with nice Adirondacks chairs. The Inn Keeper Kara was fabulous. She made sure everyone was taken care of and had everything they needed for their stay as well as provided recommendations on where to go and things to do/see. It was my birthday getaway and she even went above and beyond and put a birthday sign over the fireplace with a nautical themed candy display of lobster gummies, etc. The house keeping staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The owner Karen was there as well and we had a very nice conversation about her ownership of the inn and island itself. I would highly recommend this Inn to anyone and can't wait to come back in the future! Thank you, Sherburne Inn! Mackenzie

It's tucked away on a quiet street but minutes from all of the action downtown. All of our favorite restaurants and stores were under a 10 minute walk away. The inn has so much character and was recently remodeled so it feels clean, fresh and cozy. The common spaces are just lovely and we loved the outdoor seating areas that collected sunshine. Our room (the king petite) was impeccably clean, spacious and beautiful. We had a in-suite coffee maker, water, a steamer, plenty of hangers, slippers, robes, a hair dryer and lovely restroom amenities - they have Malin + Goetz products. The towels, bedding and mattress all felt luxurious. There's a community refrigerator available, reading materials and an ice machine. They have beach chairs and towels. The daily continental breakfast was so lovely and had different items each day. They have coffee, tea, water, sodas and snacks available 24/7. In the evenings, they set out little treats for guests to enjoy. The manager of the inn, Kara, was truly such a JOY to speak with and made sure we had everything we needed. She felt like family and made our stay even more memorable. Overall, we were thrilled with the Sherburne Inn!! Can't recommend it enough. One thing to note, this is a bed and breakfast and not a "traditional hotel" - more of a cozy, home - which we loved!
