Having had the worst manicure in my life somewhere else, and in need of somewhere good to have my nails done for my upcoming wedding, I was lucky enough to see the nails on a friend at our condo pool. She could not speak highly enough of Linda and how well she did nails, and her French manicure was exactly what I wanted. I went twice. The first time to meet Linda and make sure it wasn't a fluke, and had a regular manicure. She was friendly and professional. The salon was very calming, with colors I personally like: a yellow entryway, and a beautiful painted a mural of the ocean and regional birds.( as a recent transplant, I cannot get enough of them!) I Made an appointment for the next week, one day before my wedding. I have never had acrylic nails, because I am a physical therapist and they would get in the way, plus I am very active and my nails don't tend to grow long. I had no idea what to expect, even though several of my friends and even teenage daughter have/had them. She was insistent that I was happy with the length and shape. I wanted the pink color, and silver to dress it up. The entire process was fascinating, and Linda was kind and patient as she answered my barrage of questions. I've been here twice (both times as a walk-in, and both times for a gel manicure) and even though this is a pretty no-frills environment, the quality of the manicures have been great. I believe the lady who did my nails this time was Tina (I was getting them done for a trip and wanted them to be perfect!) and she did a wonderful job. It's been over a week since I had them done and they still look great - no chipping, no peeling. She took her time, shaped my nails nicely, but most importantly she didn't flood my cuticles! My biggest pet peeve when I get my nails done is when the nail techs flood my cuticles with polish and then they inevitably start lifting, getting snagged on things & peeling off. That's not the case here and both manicures I've gotten here have been perfect. I will continue coming here since it's on my way home from work. The price isn't bad either! Absolutely zero customer service ability but maybe a good option for someone needing a service last minute and quickly. Came to this salon because I needed an apt before going out of town and my regular salon was unable. I called specifically asking if they had any techs able to do "hard gel" a technique that not many techs know yet. They assured me yes. Waited 15 minutes after my apt time to be seen only to have the tech try to give me an acrylic fill on top of my hard gel... convincing me it's still gel. WAS NOT GEL. I was however in a rush and needed to be out in an hour (after I ended up waiting for 15). To accommodate the techs did my nails and toes at the same time, finishing both services in less than an hour. So this is the second time I have been here. The first was for a pedicure and it was fantastic!! I have an ingrown toenail and as a nurse, being on my feet all day makes it super painful. (Gory detail!) the guy actually dug it out and trimmed it up nicely. Plus, he was so careful and gentle it didn't hurt!! It felt so much better afterward!! Today, I saw Linda. I have been having professional manicures and pedicures for over 15 years and Ocean Nails is the best! About 5 years ago I moved from Tampa Bay to the panhandle due to work. I never found anyone there that came close to the quality of work and professionalism that I have had with the staff at Ocean Nails. While I was in the panhandle, every time I returned to Tampa Bay for a visit I would schedule an appointment at Ocean Nails. When I moved back just over two years ago, I have never gone anywhere else. I have observed the entire staff as they have worked with elderly customers and people with disabilities and have never seen anyone treated with anything but the greatest respect. I fully trust them to only refuse to do a procedure for a customer if they believe it would not be in the best interest of the customer, not for their own satisfaction. If I could post this review with no stars I would. My mother was a biweekly customer at Ocean Nails for many years as she worked at Publix in the same plaza. She was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, a rare degenerative neurological disease about 6 or so years ago and had to retire in December of 2015. This disease has taken every bit of independence from the strongest woman I've ever known. She is unable to care for even her basic needs alone and relies on others. Like most women she likes to look and feel good and enjoys getting her nails done. I took her to Ocean Nails in the afternoon on July 24, 3019 to get the color changed in her fingers and toes. The 2 women I spoke with refused to do the service stating ti wa too hard. I'm not sure what it too hard about painting the nails of a woman who can barely move. I'm sure they do the nails of young girls who may have a difficult time sitting still. They denied to perform a simple 15 minute service for a woman with a disability. Discrimination is against the law and people with disabilities are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Act. Shame on you Ocean Nails. You need to educate your employees! read more

I went to Ocean Nails to get a pedicure for my upcoming cruise. I decided to try the gel so that it would last 3 weeks through the cruise. I got the upgraded pedicure which I knew was $28.00 I knew the gel polish would be a little higher but was not told how much. When I was told the total $53.00 at check out I was shocked but what was a going to do I was done and leaving. I should have been informed of the cost when asked which pedicure I wanted then be told the gel was this much more. I could have bought 8 bottles of polish and done it myself for years to come. I was charged different prices for the same services on 2 different occasions. I was charged more for a gel manicure because my nails were long.I asked 5 other nail salons if that was their practice,and they all laughed hysterically. The price for a gel manicure is set at one price at all salons I returned for a 3rd appointment-prepared to pay more because I really liked the nail tech (but not the owners) and when I arrived at my appointment on time- I was told that my nail technician refused to give me a manicure,,and I could chose someone else. I tipped this nailtech 20% each time for her services...so I am not sure what was up. Beware...I have since heard that this is a common practice....and they barter on the prices...and are not consistant.' I went to another salon nearby...and told them the story...infact I told the story to everyone I saw today..because I was in such shock that they refused my business cause I called them on their bad business practices and customer service. The female owner even tried to offer me a lower price than she normally charges for a haircut to get me to come to her...and told me when I return for the haircut to remind her that she had promised to do it fr me for $50 and not her regular price. That must have been what she did with the first mani-pedi,but on the second mani-pedi ,she was not there, Her husband was there and charged me a higher price than the first time...and argued with me..that I must have been mistaken...well I am 77 yrs old,but what neither of them knew was that I meticulously record all my income and expenses on a daily basis on my computer....and have held the position of national treasurer for a non profit organization for 15 years,ran my own business for over 40 years,grossing over 1 million dollars annually since 1977. I came to Florida on vacation from New Jersey. I used to live here 6 years ago and I would always get my nails done at this place and it was ALWAYS reasonably priced. I walk into this place with my best friend after I had told her so many good things about this place I ended up walking out MAD AS FUCK. My experience today along with hers was FUCKING TERRIBLE. I asked for a fill in and a pedicure for the both of us. Mind you my nails were already fucking long and pointy & my best friend's nails were long & coffin. I know that anywhere you go if you get your nails extended or cut, you get charged. In my case I had neither done. No extension and no cut. I get seated onto the pedicure chair and I start picking my colors. The only guy that works there was the one doing MY nails. He was talking shit the whole time about us to this girl that was doing my friend's nails from the pedicure and up to the fill in. He rushed my toes, did an ugly ass paint job, didn't cut my cuticles, NOTHING. I know I had more nail than he made them look. Done with that. Now moving on to the fill in. I asked for sharp ass pointy fucking nails to the point where they could hurt someone and he couldn't do it. He kept leaving them round. I got frustrated at that point and asked the lady that was doing my friend's nails to make my nails pointy because this fucking guy couldn't. So this guy caught a slight attitude with me while this lady fixed my nails. I sat back down for him to finish them. Not to mention this place is supposed to be cheap, right? Normally at least to every nail salon I've been in, the people who do my nails tell me how much the things I want cost so they make sure that I still want to go through with doing it. NEITHER OF THEM DID THAT. Having been to this place precviously when I lived here, I have never in my life had to pay $134 for me and my friend's nails ANYWHERE I've been. This guy told me my nails costed $30. I heard that come out of his mouth. I FUCKING HEARD IT. Me and my friend got the same fucking treatment. Hers were $30 too but, when I went to pay the lady who did my friend's nails, she changed the prices and told me it was $134. I'm questioning her now and asking her why the FUCK it's that much when the guy said my nails were $30. I pay the lady and walk out into my car and I'm sitting there until she leaves the store because this was around closing time. The lady stuttered when I asked her why it was that much. I ask my friend to grab one of their menus and we're both sitting in the car calculating our nails. I SHOULD NOT HAVE PAID MORE THAN $90. So I get my ass out of the car and my friend follows. We both walk back into the store where it's only the guy who did my nails and I say the same thing to him. "It doesn't make sense as to why I had to pay $134 close to $200." He was shook and I asked him for prices and he gave me completely different prices from what this lady told me. Now I'm thinking to myself here that they both spoke their language to each other and planned out to charge us MORE THAN WE SHOULD HAVE PAID. I was arguing with this guy and this guy had nothing to say but he gave me the card to call the boss and told me to call her the next day. I said "NO, CALL HER RIGHT NOW AND YOU BETTER GIVE THE PHONE IMMEDIATELY TO ME." That way he wouldn't have spoke his language telling his boss to say the prices they made up to make him look like he was right. He was SO fucking scared at that point. I talked to the boss and she also gave me different prices then the guy spoke his language and she changed them to what he said. This bitch told me she couldn't do anything for me but give me only $10 back after fighting with her over the phone and telling her that THEY DON'T MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE AND THAT THEY'RE FUCKED UP. I'm only staying in Florida for 3 DAYS. I spent half of what I had to spend for this trip on me and my friend's nails. I wanted to cry at that point because now I have $60 left to my name for this whole trip. I am very, VERY MAD. They made my first day being in Florida absolutely TERRIBLE. I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER COME TO THIS PIECE OF SHIT PLACE AGAIN AND ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE THAT I KNOW THAT LIVE AND VISIT HERE, MARK MY WORDS, THEY WILL NEVER STEP FOOT INTO THIS POORLY RAN, DISGUSTINGLY MANNERED PLACE AGAIN. The first couple times I went here I was happy with how my nails looked but recently they have been so bad I'll never go back. The acrylic has been uneven and lumpy, and the length of each nail has been noticeably different from one another. Linda and her staff are always friendly and are very welcoming to the needs of the customer. I always get a mani and pedi and the cost has been the same for several years. My experience with Linda has been exceptional and as a result several family members and friends have changed over to her salon for their needs. The décor has been updated, the chairs and all equipment are fairly new. They do a lot of business there, appts and walk-ins.. I look forward to my once a month "special" day. Usually I just roll with just about anything but this time was the most horrible experience ever. As every typical working mom trying to find time for ourselves is quite a challenge, so half the time I was strolling n there last minute or with my daughter, and it is usually around five or six when business is a bit slow and not so hectic in there. Now I am a firm believer in second chances but OMG this place is a nightmare! both times asking me why nobody can watch my daughter whom by the way was quite and in my lap the ENTIRE time, which is not any of there business seeing how me being here is putting money in your pocket! This last time I was looking for a specific color which is always gel and supposedly well should be easy to find for them seeing how they are labeled. The lady brought me back every color but the one I wanted and then had the nerve to start shouting that this was the color I wanted I was completely astonished by this but politely said no thank you I will go with this color which was not what I wanted at all but at this point was just ready to leave because they were all laughing and speaking in there language! S pissed off! So the lady begins polishing my nails and then proceeds to tell me that this particular polish was an extra $15...! I always spend a lot and tip very well!
