With Yomana's techniques, I woke up this morning and noticed the tension in my neck and shoulders has been reduce dramatically to almost none. I use to think deep tissue and hard pressure was what helped my body/muscles but after seeking out a different type of massage, I'm floored. Her techniques are subtle and small but the result is HUGE. She is caring and personable. She asked me my goals for the massage and where my body needed the most help. After the massage, she also helped bring attention to my breathing and even the way I was standing which is a cause of the tightness on one side of my body. Her space is clean and welcoming and she has taken all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If you're looking for a different approach to physical well-being, look no further than Spring Street in Newport, RI. Thank you Yomana!

So when I tell you that I have lived in pain, I have done so for a very long time. With my only treatment option since then, were pain medications. While I would not normally preface a review with such personal information, it lends itself to how healing of an experience Soul Retreat Massage Therapy has been for me. When the VA informed me that they were no longer going to support these medications, I was taken back a bit. Possibly even offended, or worse.. abandoned. They suggested Massage Therapy, and my little voice was saying "Are you kidding me with this?! Seriously?!". I went to my appointment, not expecting much to change and already had it in my mind how I was going to tell the VA thanks for the waste of time. But this was never going to be the case for me. Then came Donna.. We sat and spoke about my injury, and where the pain was localized and how it would spread from my back, and down my arms. She had tailored her therapeutic massage to target these areas, and she explained everything. How I would feel the next day. What she did not say, was that this grown man would cry. For the first time in over twenty years, I was pain free. Without medications or contraptions. She is a true god send.

He had the cure, kids - him and his magic needles. For some, acupuncture is a scary thought. Not for me. I totally believe in its powers and I totally believe it got me well. Mixed with herbal supplements and plenty of rest, Acupuncture got rid of my horrible pneumonia and all the gloriousness that goes along with it. I called Dr. Mark at the hight of my illness. I sounded so horrible on the phone, the man took pity on me and scheduled a time to see me that day, which was his day off! We spent a few hours together, discussing my symptoms, what I had done prior to seeing him, and my life in general. He was calm and kind and reassuring. I was totally comfortable. He then did some cupping, which I had never done before but was quite intrigued by. It wasn't nearly as painful as I had predicted, and I loved the way the heated cups felt like they were pulling every toxin from my ailing body. Then we got to the acupuncture. Now, I will tell you in all honesty it isn't painless - there are a few areas (on my body, at least) that are very sensitive and you can feel the energy coursing through your body when he inserts those pins, man. Thankfully, he's very chatty and explains everything which is such a comfort to inquiring minds like my own. Within a few hours, I felt better. Within a few days, I felt much better. I went back a week later, we did more treatments and continued with the herbs and rest and now I am like a new woman. Acupuncture also helps with stress, insomnia and digestion. And cramps. And headaches. And just about anything. Dr. Mark is my buddy now, and I look forward to seeing him when I do... Needles and all.
