If I could give no stars, I would. About a month ago, I made an appointment with Gioia. I spoke to…read moreher more than once on the phone and the appointment was set. I arrived 10 minutes early, and the sign said please knock if door is closed. I did. I ended up waiting 30 minutes before I finally left. The door was locked; apparently, she wasn't even there. She never called to apologize. Actually, never called at all. This is about as rude as it gets, especially for a business person.- I still suspect that maybe, when I called her the night before to "warn" her that I was fat, and that's what she'd be dealing with, as the reason she never showed. It all worked out in the end, though. I found a great massage place in East Greenwich, and I was able to go the next day. It was wonderful! I guess some things just end up working out for the best, because I'll continue to go there in the future! :)

I have been to several massage therapists over the years. Several muscle injuries from vigorous…read moreexercise has lead me to search for someone that knows sports massage and can go deep. I was so so blessed to have found Gioia. She was a recommendation of a friend. Gioia has a tremendous knowledge of the anatomy of the body and puts it to great use. In addition, she is very strong in application as well. I always leave better than when I came in and I go regularly because her treatments and instruction allow me to work through years of mistreatment of my body from the high impact of weights and running. She also helps me to relax from there stresses of the week. Finally, she has a tremendous personality, is very friendly, and the ambiance of the room with light music and aura really aids in causing relaxation and peace. I highly recommend Gioia. You will only be sorry you had not found her sooner!

I was really excited to get my 90-minute session from this place. I like that the massage…read moretherapist spoke softly and deliberately. However, I really enjoy massages where I am left to my own thoughts so I can truly savor the relaxation. I liked the massage enough but I probably would still try others. And no, not because I am one of those serial discounted massage aficionados, but because I enjoy a more serene experience. Further, I doubt that I experienced the 90-minute massage, all told. Sure, I arrived about 5 minutes late (my bad), but on top of filling out a form, I had to sit through what felt like nearly 10 minutes of conversation.

Let me tell you I left that place feeling like a new person. Doing this review months later so cannot remember the name of the staff that did my massage but it sure you will have a positive experience with anyone there. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area again.

I am used to enjoying Thai massages--here in the US and in Thailand. When I lived in Los Angeles, I…read morewould typically treat myself to one at least once a month. You can imagine how over the moon I was to find this place in lil' Rhody. Thai massages are dry massages and involve a lot of gentle stretching and some acupressure. I typically leave energized and not sleepy. The massage quality is at par with what one would expect for this modality. I have no complaints here. The only setback is the service rate. This place, perhaps due to lack of competition, is pricey. This has prevented me from coming regularly. That said, if you've never had a Thai massage before and are curious about what makes it different--while not planning to visit Thailand soon, or any other state where there are more spas offering this service--then do visit Thai Tranquility Bodywork. It's worth being familiar with Thai massage, and this place does a good job.

I was super skeptical when I pulled up to a really ugly brick building right next to the airport,…read morebut they have done an excellent job completely transforming the basement space into something totally luxurious and relaxing. The 60 minute float was the perfect amount of time for me. I did fall asleep at some point which was nice. I was super sleepy and relaxed for the rest of the day. The float tank also does a great job of relieving minor aches and pains because you can stretch with no weight on your joints. I wish that I had thought to turn the lights off in the room before I started, because there was a little bit of light seeping through the cracks of the float tank. You can have the option to turn the lights and spa music in the tank on or off. My skin was super soft afterwards because of the epsom salt, but you might want to plan to do this on a day when you don't have any plans afterwards, because my hair was kind of funky for a while afterwards. The person at the counter was really friendly and did an excellent job of explaining everything. They provide a towel, q-tips, ear plugs, and anything you might need. The cost was $55 for one hour as a new customer. Definitely hoping to come back here and I've been recommending it to everyone!
