Came here to look at cars. The car I was interested in was around $28-29k with a $36k out the door price stated on the cars sheet. They wanted me to pay $740 each month for 6 years. Thats around $53k. Almost $18k more than the OTD price stated on the cars sheet. I also have great credit by the way. I said no multiple times & each time I threatened to leave, they'd make my monthly payment go down but NEVER showed me an interest rate or out the door price. Left the place feeling peer pressured & harrassed. The salesman also had the audacity to text me & try and frame me for taking the car keys I test drove when I left the keys with them. Two stars so this review doesn't get lost in the many, many one-star reviews! The 2017 Honda Fit Starter Button is the first (and only) item ever to break (every two years), Honda has issued an unlimited recall/repair for this part, at no cost to the consumer. When my wife called/towed the car in when it broke, she told them it was the switch, as it had broken twice before. Ocean Honda put the car on a computer diagnostic machine ($600) which indicated no fault with the battery, then they replaced the battery ($400) saying it had "tested marginally"and returned the car. The car would not start the next morning, so their service guy drove to our house and decided the switch was broken (without their $600 fancy tester) and towed the car back to the dealer, and replaced the switch. No further charge! Feeling very frustrated at the repair shop due to their not listening to her initially, she Yelped Ocean Honda about excess charges for the repair, including replacing a perfectly good battery. They had just pocketed an easy $1,000 on a recall... Ocean Honda sent her a snarky note and a refund check for $1.00. I kid you not, she still has the check on our fridge to remind us never to call the dealer when there is a problem, we now call Rusty's Honda instead. read more

What a terrible dealership. The car I bought was listed at 41k and I ended up paying 52k, and that was kind of a surprise. Plus they sold me an expensive maintenance package that can only be used in a few places in California that are hundreds of miles from where I work and live. When I asked to cancel it, they wouldn't at first. It took me a few weeks. They still haven't returned my money. The worst part is that they told me it had my door auto-lock set up so it would lock whenever I walk away, which was a total lie. My car got broken into a month after I bought it because auto lock was NOT set up like they said it was. Thanks to their bullshit, about $4000 of equipment was stolen from my car right before an important trip, including an $800 guitar, all my work clothes, an inflatable SUP, a radar detector, and an expensive custom music banner I had just received. Took my car in for a free warranty repair on 29 JUL 24 - this is after I had taken it to a reputable mechanic to have about $2200 of maintenance and repair done. I was told that my transmission fluid was dirty and needed changing - my valve cover gasket was "puking" oil - my brake fluid was dirty and needed changing and that my coolant was low. When I tell you I literally had all of these items serviced 5 days prior to this appointment I was baffled to hear this. I immediately felt as though getting more of my money was the only concern they had - I have since scheduled an appointment with my trusted mechanic to ensure they do not create issues for my car. I was also approached by their sales manager as my warranty had expired and they wanted to try and sell me a new car with a new warranty. This place is gross if you ask me - I will never buy a car from Ocean or take my car here for service - especially since there are so many better options throughout the county with local businesses!!! read more

They posted this add listing all the things that didn't play a factor in you getting a car and when I got there they all played a factor they stated you don't need credit your job is your credit that was a lie they went based off my credit and gave me a 14% interest rate. They said 0 down that was a lie the said I had to put 1k down then changed it to 3 or 4K down. They stated payment as low as 289 a month I was quoted 600 a month they stated they state bankruptcies repossesions late payments ect and none of that is true. This dealership really needs to go by what they say and not give people false hope I've been dealing with them for 4 days and been getting the run around or no responses back the GM keeps saying he'll give me a call no call I ask for the corporate number they don't have one read more

let me start off by saying that Jakob the sales rep was very good and personable young and energetics. This review is not about him. It's about the financial guy Travis trailer. I do believe his name is I have tried to contact him twice with no response I've had issues with the car that I bought. The first one was I assumed I was buying a pre-certified used vehicle with everything working properly and my AC does not work. Also my antenna for the stereo was not there. I also explained to him in the very beginning that he made a mistake on the miles of the car he put 60,650 miles or thereabouts and it had 68,000 miles, so at this point I was not sure if they sold me the proper car or not. I also trade it in my nightshade CHR with all the bells and whistles. And got lowballed on my trade-in. I blame myself for excepting it but then they highball me on the Subaru Impreza that I got. Biggest issue I have is that I have low tier insurance where I can only drive 6000 miles a year. And at this point it shows I've done almost 10,000 miles. This is going to affect me immensely with my insurance and I thought forged documents were illegal so I am leaving this review to emphasize that I will never recommend anybody. Yesterday, I went to look into upgrading my 2019 honda crv and had the worst experience there ever.I dont know what happened to that place that turned the salespeople into such jackles. I used to work with Rodney who seem to really actually care about me and what I wantes what I could afford and tje would do their best to get me into the car I wanted or something close that was in mt price range. But yesterday I went in, and Rodney was no longer there. I sat down with someone named Jeff. I just felt from the start that this person did not have my best interest in mind. And then I just got worse when Peter the finance guy got involved. I do not recommend this place to anyone. There are other places to go. Please go to other Honda dealships, not this place. They were trying to convince me that an almost 1000 dollar monthly payment for a 2025 cvr ex was a great deal. Peter was trying to cut me a check for 3000 that I could do what I want with it but he highly recomended that I save it and use it towards my monthly payments so then I would be paying 750 a month. The only thing I need to say is that i did go in there with not the greatest credit score and a very low down payment but with that being said I have been getting cars from ocean honda for almost 15 plus years. I have spent a good close to, if not more than a million dollars, with this place in that time with what myself and my family have spent with this place. It was just very sad how I was treated yesterday by jeff and peter. Maybe there should be some extra training involved. The worst part was when Jeff asked me to have my dad co sign for me and whe I said he was diagnosed with dementia and wasnt in the right mental capacity to so that he still asked for my dads information that showed me that he was not listening at all. Love these guys! They got me in as a walk-in as I was stuck from out of town. It wasn't much of a wait and they were so careful, patient and concerned. It turned out the problem I came in for wasn't the transmission but my unfamiliarity with the car. But he also took the time to diagnose an older ongoing problem that turned out to be serious and told me what to do to drive safely until I got back home where car repairs are cheaper. Patient, thoughtful and knowledgeable. (I'd asked elsewhere about the sound the car was making and was blown off.) He wasn't trying to upsell me as he knew I was going elsewhere to have the work done. Didn't even charge me anything. Good people. Very unfortunate experience we had here. We test drove a Honda Passport RTL with a good sales rep - I can't remember his name but I have no complaints regarding his service. However, their sticker price was more than 12k over MSRP adding crap like nitrogen filled tires and a high dealer mark up etc. We told him we were not going to buy a car that day since we still want to test drive other vehicles but we could go over numbers with him. We asked what he would be able to get us as an out the door price and he said he'd get his manager who basically gave us the same price that was on the vehicle with all the markups plus he added extra fees and a close to 5k warranty giving us an out the door price of over 71k for a vehicle with an MSRP of 47.1k. We said we are not going to buy today as we want to test drive other vehicles but we will be comparing offers so this 71k is the price we are going to use as your best out the door offer. He said for us to go shop around and come back with the best offer we get. We then went to the Toyota dealer in town, found a vehicle at a fair price and made a purchase a few days later. We really liked the Passport even though the mileage wasn't great but their sales tactic was beyond off-putting and cost them a sale. If they had quoted a reasonable out the door price, we would most likely have returned and bought that Passport. After entering personal information, including employment info and my SSN to make sure I could qualify, my deal was approved online only to have their online sales rep, "Dillon" tell me that he would not honor the deal. TOTAL SCAM!! Dillon kept repeating that legally he didn't have to honor the deal because a disclaimer on the site says the deal is subject to dealer approval. I initially brought my 2015 Honda Civic in back in November. I asked for them to run diagnostics on it and also mentioned something seemed to be off with how it was driving. I was sold a 90,000 mile update package for roughly $1600. While I had only briefly mentioned my car making a clicking sound and sometimes, taking a few attempts to turn on, I thought this was something they would realize when starting the car or running diagnostics on it. None of that was addressed, but I thought if I needed to I would just bring it back in a week or so if it continued. Fast forward to January, my car needed to be towed in because my wheel locked to the point where it was impossible to turn and the guy who towed my car was shocked at how worn down my keys were. It turned out that I needed a new ignition kit and keys for a cool $1400. When I spoke with Eric Mendoza, I specifically mentioned my issue I had with my car making clicking sounds and to PLEASE check the starter. They had to order a part and had my car for six days. He reassured me multiple times that the starter was working well and there were no issues. When I went to pick my car up, they left plastic trash in the vehicle with dirty gloves, and I had to also immediately go back because the lights and blinkers were not working. Due diligence goes a long way when this is someone's second time bringing their car in because you can't do a solid job the first time. I expected better. A few days later, after I had been reassured that the starter was in *great* condition and had no problems, I texted Dustin because unfortunately, it took me 20 attempts to get my car to start. I was told that a video would be helpful to diagnose the problem. Apparently me telling them that it took 20+ times to start my car wasn't enough! They needed footage. Not only that, but when I asked why they hadn't looked at the starter at any point during the SIX days they had my car, I was given the poor excuse that it would take time and effort to take the piece apart and see what the issue was. I finally brought my car to Ron at Advanced Auto on Water. They charged me less than half of what Ocean Honda quoted me for, and did it in HALF a day. Do not bring your car here -- there are MUCH better mechanics in town. read more

I had a horrible experience with Ocean Honda Santa Cruz , I've been talking with the product specialist Rodney Bray for about three days , he even said that he came on in Monday to help me with the deal , I did although have a great experience in the beginning, but after i had taken the car home i realized that i couldn't afford it. I then text Mr.Bray saying that I couldn't afford it, and if they could come and pick it up.Attached is the text msg i got back from him . I drove the civic to Ocean Honda , i walked in around 10am .I asked to speak to the GM .Mr.Carranza , i was told that he wouldn't be in for a couple hours.I don't know how i spoke with saying that I couldn't initially afford this car at this time. The gentleman i was speaking told me that there's laws against costumers returning vehicles, and that returning it wasn't a option for me. This is where things went south and why I'm giving them one star .I was there until about 2:30pm , I was there that long because I was told time and time again that i had to complete the legal documents which i haven't even signed, the only thing i signed was a proof of transfer for the civic, i didn't even have insurance or tags for the civic. It seemed to me like they just wanted the sale and didn't care what i had to say , but i was really straight forward saying i couldn't initially afford it over and over. During my time at Ocean Honda , my wife and I were over hearing some couples that were trying to upgrade there civic and the sales person was giving them a run around on how much more it would be!!! Isn't when you upgrade to another car , mean that you trade in our old car and pay the difference??!!! As you come in the showroom they are either on you like sharks circling for the kill or completely ignoring you. I had done my research. I knew what USED car I wanted to look at. The first day I prevailed with the young salesman and he went to look for the car. 20 minutes go by. I see him chatting with the other salesmen. I'm thinking WTF. Finally he leaves the showroom. More minutes go by. I'm getting cobwebs. When he comes back with the car he says I'll go with you for the test drive. During the test drive he admits he had to jump the car because the battery was dead. Red flag. During the drive it's apparent that there is an exhaust leak. Nevertheless we like the car and say if you guys fix it we'll come take another look. The next day we are flooded with texts about other cars. I told them I am working so don't text because I can't answer. Then they say the car has been worked on so come take another look. We go there the next evening. Same thing. They can't find the car. Minutes go by and finally yet another salesman comes out and says the car didn't pass safety test and has been wholesaled. Again WTF. How come they don't know anything about their inventory that we have specifically asked about? After that they try to talk us into a new car lease and the other salesman (general manager) is over there on the computer saying he's looking for other cars. Next thing we see is the general manager, who was supposedly looking for other cars, get up and walk out the front door without so much as a good bye. WTF. So disrespectful. They have lost a customer and we'll never go back! We advise everyone to avoid this old fashioned shark pond like the plague! I needed to replace my wife's Honda Fit. It was going to a new home where it was needed. I wanted to replace it with a Honda HRV. The MSRP was around $25,000. Then they added: Paint Protection$2k, Auto Alarm$2k, Nitrogen in the tires$300, Dealer Documentation$2k, other add ons $3k; plus additional dealer markup(due to parts shortage $4k. New Grand total $40k. The salesguy was polite and said that people were happy to pay the $40k and that Honda parts are in such short supply, people were happy to get a Honda in Stock. He also said that there was a big sale during Memorial day and he was sure he could get 10% off. I was thinking: "I am being gouged." Now there is no doubt that Honda makes a good car, But $15k over msrp and a bunch of 90% margin dealer Junk fees? I was "meh, I am not your average idiot to be taken advantage of." I went over to Suburu and bought a CrossTrek $32k list (better quality than the HRV) that same evening for MSRP; no junk fees, $89 dealer documentation fees. plus normal sales tax. Suburu treated me well and with respect. Oh, Honda was polite, but they subscribe to the "greater fool" theory. I guess I will be buying from Suburu for my next car as well. read more
