I just purchased a 2021 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 on January, 7th 2024. It was a great experience purchasing a car from Ocean Honda. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Their team was amazing. I drove from 3 hours a way and they were willing to accommodate me and meet a little early before they opened. Victor was great through the entire process. He contacted me shortly after I inquired about the vehicle and immediately sent me a video of the car I was interested in. He was very communicative and insightful/informative. He didnt make me feel pressured or harrased as some car salesmen do that can push customers away. His patients and understanding made me feel comfortable and inclined to give him my business. As this was a used car, he was very honest about the overall condition of the vehicle and any minor damages it may have had. He included pictures of any issues and was transparent, instead of being misleading, saying everything was great to get me in the door. I appreciate the honesty as I understand any used car is not going to be perfect. He made sure to address any issues/concerns I had with the detail department and did his best to get them fixed. From my experience in management and customer service, I got the impression that he is a great manager. He was willing to work with me and be negotiable on some items. I noticed the back bumper reflector was broken and he was willing to ship a replacement to me as well as reduce the estimated cost of labor it will take for me to get the reflector installed. He was also willing to reduce the costs of the ELO-GPS price to make the car doc maintenance membership more affordable for me to add on. Thank you Dylan for your great business acumen. Adrian was also pleasant to work with in finance. He made everything super smooth and was very informative as well. He is good at what he does. He was very sociable/outgoing and genuinely cared when my son started coughing and brought him water. He made the finance portion and paperwork signing as painless as possible. He was even willing to ask Dylan a couple of questions/requests I had as well as help me negotiate the ELO and car doc pricing. I have been in the customer service and management side of things for several years and I must say I was impressed with this dealership. Even though I was there for only 3 hours or so and just met them, they felt like friends I have know for a long time. I saw a small number of bad reviews when looking them up before going there but I'm now convinced those bad reviews are either from people with no patients, are hard to please or difficult or just hate life LOL. I understand the add on fees may be a little higher then some used car dealerships. But you get what you pay for. The car I purchased went through a full multi point inspection and tune up, had new brakes front to back, and all new tires. The car runs practically like its brand new. Also, my paint will be protected for 5 years and the 5 year maintenance program is a bargain in the long run compared to what you would pay for maintenance out of pocket. You may pay a little less somewhere else at an independent used car dealership but you won't get the same long term quality in your vehicle as you will get at a licensed Honda dealership like Ocean Honda. In conclusion, if you are in the area or live near Soquel looking to purchase a vehicle, I highly recommend you stop by Ocean Honda. They will take care of you. He reached out to me not long after I dropped off my car with recommendations and patiently listened to and answered my questions. We decided to move forward with all of his suggestions and my car feels like it works better than when I first purchased it new; I'm not too sure how they did it but they did. Let's just say that I went to 4 other dealers in town during my search for a used car, and I had a positive experience with those 4, but not at Ocean Honda. I did finally find the car I wanted, somewhere else in town, at a decent price, with easy communication and feeling good about it. I think big dealerships need to change their habits, and Ocean Honda needs to re-evaluate their habits for sure. Do their tactics really work? At all the other dealers, which were not attached to a big dealership, when I asked for the out the door price, I got it immediately and the mark up only included taxes and fees (about $2,000 over), and not a couple of thousand or more over that in mysterious charges. At other dealers in town, I was handed the calculations and a copy of the CarFax report. I had straightforward, not pushy, discussions about the cars. Not so at Ocean Honda. I really felt like I was getting the run around. Not from just one person, but a few. My second visit, I agreed to test drive another car and was curious about the actual price. I waited forever for them, as before, and when they finally brought the paperwork to me, the price, like my first visit, was thousands more over than just taxes and fees I expected. When I got fed up and I demanded they get the credit report I had originally come in for, I was told they couldn't give me everything. I said, "Well, give me what you can give me. It's my report, I have a right to it. I have been asking since I first got here." When the guy went back ( again: "...just a few minutes. We'll get that for you...")., the price calculations were snatched away so I couldn't study them while I waited. I regret letting them run my credit during my first visit BTW, but I was new to this and thought it was needed to get the final price, though they knew I was paying cash. When I started telling them, after a long, long wait, that I was sick of this and just wanted my credit report, they once again left me to wait "just 5 more minutes" (again). When he returned finally with my credit report, he pointed out that the calculations on the price, as well as my credit report, were stamped "For Internal Use Only". My hands never actually touched any of these papers. At least I was allowed to take bad photos of them with my phone. The questions I was asking were coming from my father, who is a master mechanic, and wanted to know what had been done from brake service #1 to start thinking about what needed to be done for this future brake service #2 so that I could appropriately advocate for myself since we didn't see these service notes in the service record. This was not afforded to me and after he went on a long tangent about how he has worked for '20 years!' at a number of car dealerships (like this was supposed to impress me), I just chose to end the interaction because he stated I was "going in circles". I had a bad experience at this place. I came in wanting to test drive a car to compare it to another car I was considering. I was pretty sure about the other car (different manufacturer) so I hadn't done as much research on Hondas; I just that new the Fit would be the most similar. The salesman, Jeff, seemed friendly at first. But he seemed to not understand what stage I was at in my buying process. He kept asking me to give him very specific budgets, needs and parameters for what I was looking for. That's reasonable - they need to understand what a customer wants in order to know what to show them. But rather than meeting me where I was at, he tried to make me feel stupid for not having all of the answers already. That struck me as odd and it was off-putting. For a minute I thought it was my fault for not being more prepared. I was clear that I wanted to test drive the Fit, so I did. Unexpectedly, I really liked it. I had done a lot of research on the other car but not as much on the Fit, so I wanted to think about it more and do some more research, including looking at what other dealerships were offering it for. Jeff adopted a faux-puzzled attitude about this that was condescending and seemed engineered to make me feel like an idiot. He openly questioned my reasoning and said that if I liked the car I drove there was no reason why I shouldn't get it. Normally, this would come off as simply an absurd statement, easily dismissed; but the tone in which Jeff said it was as if he were talking to a child. Why on earth would I NOT shop around when buying a car? I was bewildered and annoyed. Several times he left me waiting at a table while he went off and did something unspecified. It was not busy and whatever he returned with certainly didn't account for the time he spent away. I've heard this is a tactic car salespeople use -- I'm not sure how or why it works, and it certainly had the opposite effect on me. Being kept waiting, needlessly, when I've already indicated I'm not ready to buy is disrespectful and leverages peoples' instinct to not be rude against them. It's obviously an attempt to make people feel isolated and powerless. Gross. I understand that their agenda is to close a deal, but I cannot overstate how much the pressure campaign and manipulation tactics backfired in this situation. If I had been weaker-willed or less informed, I can see how these tactics might have succeeded in coercing me to buy. I think that is unethical, and sadly reinforces the negative stereotypes about car salespeople. I would respond much more positively to someone who respects where I'm at and makes themselves available if I have questions. Buying a car is a big purchase and a complicated decision. When a salesperson doesn't acknowledge that I quickly feel suspicious and defensive. By all means, make your case! But then kindly back the f*ck off. read more

If you want to pay double what you should, then this place is okay. Paid $670 to replace the door lock cylinder and replace one of the keys. Paid $756 for valve adjustment. Paid $295 to have six spark plugs replaced. Paid $251 for transmission fluid flush. Paid $112 to replace cabin and engine air filters. One bad experience here was the one time I took my car here and was informed that I had a leak in the rear main seal and that it would take 6+ hours of labor to fix (I can dig out the paperwork). Taking the car to Greg's engine room I was told it was not a leak in the main seal at all, that it was a different leak and would be a less than one hour repair. My guess is they were not being honest. read more

Tony Carranza specifically is a jerk not to be trusted! After 2 separate lease agreements and leaving the said leased car at the dealership this is considered a null and voided contracted. I lost my 2014 Honda Civic because I was forced to use this car as payment to "break an early lease agreement"!! It was less than 24 hours!!! Tony Carranza had every opportunity to find a feasible solution that would make us both happy but his greed got the best of him. I was a long standing loyal customer. I had financed several cars with them before. You would think this would matter or that they would care about this... no. They don't. I was charged. $6500 dealership mark up fee (due to low inventory) and a $6000 lease fee... like how does this make sense?? I told the sales associate a number of times I didn't understand all the fees. He ignored me. I told the finance guy that it didn't make sense... he said he is just a "paper pusher" and he only inputs the numbers given to him by sales..??? I was told by the sales manager that "this was above his pay grade" when I went back the same day to get answers. They are all awful. I will never set foot in this place again! My wife took my 2022 Honda Ridgeline with 8500 miles into Ocean. I was out of town. When cold the transmission would jerk when you drove first thing in the morning. The transmission did not act up for them but they did reset a sensor. The transmission in not jerking now. That is all good what is not they charged my wife $105. When I called Alan Serrano, service rep, as to why they charged for a new vehicle problem he stated they could not get it to act up so they are charging for their time. Even though they did reset a sensor. I have never been charged for repairs on a vehicle under warranty. Update: After Management saw my review they contacted me and informed me Alan had made a mistake and I should have never been charged. They were very apologetic. They refunded my money paid. My wife and I had two bad interactions with the folks at this dealership. The first time, I spoke with a salesman over the phone who said if we were at the dealership before 5:00 pm, he would personally show us the vehicle we were interested in and talk to us about the price. I leave work early, pack up the kids and we all get to the dealership at 4:00 p.m. only to find out that that the guy has left. I get it, emergencies happen and things come up and that would have been my assumption until the new salesman said that the first guy never works past 4:00 p.m. I expect car dealers to not be the bastions of truth, but I was unpleased to have to start the whole conversation over again. The next guy assured us that they could match any price we could get because of their being part of a huge dealer network. When we came back a week later with a written price estimate from another dealer in Morgan Hill, they simply said they weren't interested in doing the deal. They didn't make a counter-offer or propose any way of keeping our business. Unfortunately I didn't look at their mediocre Yelp review rating before dealing with them and it cost my a few hours of my time. They are doing a major disservice to the local economy, as I wanted to give the tax revenue to my community. So much for that. There are half a dozen Honda dealers within a one-hour's drive radius of Ocean Honda: you will have a better buying experience at any of them. Do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere. read more

Bought a brand new Ridgeline here , 6 months later had a blow out on a tire (sidewall), when I called , "no problem , bring it in , its under warranty , 60,000 miles" I bring it in and ..... "so sorry , we only warranty tires on brand new vehicles for 12,000 miles , you have 14,000 miles" !!! No one in their right mind would buy a brand new tire with 12,000 mile warranty. Ocean Honda built a reputation in the past, those employees no longer work there. Would never buy there again nor let them do ANY service work. Alexis was knowledgeable, explained things patiently to me (I'm not very knowledgeable about cars), worked hard on my behalf, kept the price as low as possible, and kept me in the loop about the repairs. 2008 Honda Fit with almost 200,000 miles. Brought my car in - much worse than I expected. Needed new coils, cylinder heads, and more. Very expensive to fix (I'm low income), and who knows what else may soon go bad in the engine? I started thinking (with dread) about looking for a used car to buy. Who knows what problems may come with a used car in my price range? Alexis called me in about an hour - he'd found a used engine (about 50,000 miles on it). The price of replacing my engine completely was about the same as the repairs. And came with a 1 year warranty. I asked about the condition of the rest of the car - was it worth dropping a new engine into. Alex asked the person who was working on my car, who inspected it to verify the condition of the other parts of my car. It was worth dropping in the engine. I jumped on the opportunity. They found a couple of other problems, which they fixed. Cleaned the car inside an out before returning it to me. I now have an engine with a quarter of the use of my old one, a warranty, and probably won't have to do anything but oil and tires for a long time. Upon arrival the rep said, "You're gonna be mad at me as it sold this morning! I was going to text you." I said, "You just texted me! Let me guess you have something else to show me?" Low & behold he had another car pulled up out front for me to drive! Not the year or color I wanted but I drove it to consider. When he told me that they would give me $2,000 for my 2015 Volvo XC60 with 80k on it I left! That morning I had looked it up generically on Kelly Blue Book and saw that it was worth over $8,000!! We bought our vehicle here in 2019 and had a good experience overall (the usual haggling over trade-in value, which ended with a satisfactory exchange). The service department was alright for the following year or so, when simple oil changes took up to two hours. Now it's early 2022, and no doubt the labor "shortage" has impacted this business as it has so many others. A couple of points worth noting, however: 1. When asked as to whether the service department might offer detailing service in addition to standard maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, coolant flush), the service desk representative suggested I speak to the service technician. Question: why is the service desk unfamiliar with what services are available? 2. Two hours after dropping off my vehicle today (note: this was the maximum time anticipated for the service) I called for an update. The service desk representative asked for my assigned technician's name, and I did not have the answer ready. I offered to give them my name, type of vehicle, and time of drop off. Their response was: "Well there are a bunch of Hondas in the back, so that wouldn't help." Question: what is your vehicle-to-tech ratio at the moment? 10 to one? I suspect that if I give you the year, model, and color, a fundamentally educated person could select from even the vast array at hand. That's it for now. I've spent enough time on this.
